We have all had fun dealing with everyday objects that are not made for the perfect people. Yes, we can buy some things made for us, but somethings just are not designed to be re-designed for use by us. Do you have a tip for dealing with those? That's what this is about.

One of the things that I have found is the good old-fashioned clipboard. You know, the kind with the big metal spring clip on the top for holding papers on it. It's not to bad at the bottom of the page, but due to the way we usually hold our hand while writing that clip usually winds up, at best, being in the way or it tries to slice a chunk of meat out of our hand when writing close to the clip. The method that I came up with for dealing with this is to just put the papers with the clip at the bottom of the page. Usually I leave the clipboard set-up that way and let everyone else compensate for awhile.

Interesting topic.
Whenever it comes to dealing with writing things down on paper I would put the paper on it's side and I'd write sideways to prevent my hand from smudging the paper. My mother is also left handed and she showed me how to prevent smudging by turning the paper on it's side. It's a little difficult to do at first, keeping the words straight and perpindicular to the lines. But eventually it gets easier. I don't smear on the paper anymore.

Yeah, I do that as well at about a 45 degree angle. Like you said it's tough at first, but with practice it get's better. I also print more than I write cursive since it's slower and gives the ink a chance to dry a bit.

I do it with a 90 degree angle. It's not tough at all, I don't remember when I started doing it actually, it feels so natural for me. When I was in high school the principle visited our class and she was surprised when she saw me writing with my notebook side ways, she couldn't believe that I was able to write with the notebook in the position.

I don't do that but for some reason the paper doesn't smudge

Learn to use the other hand? For some reason even though I am left-handed there are things i can't do with my dominant hand, like using the mouse, playing some instruments, and sharpening a pencil

It's called "Cross-dominance", just 1% (like ambidextrous people) has it.
