This was an ok episode, but I'm really getting annoyed with Nicolletta. She just so childish to me with regards to her unprofessional behavior. The cell shaded food was weird but nice, and at the end (and throughout much of this episode, especially Nicolletta with her hair back in that rag on her head) I was really reminded of how much I love Antique Bakery.

Ugh Claudio is a cute oyaji.

Nicoletta needs to get it together! I understand how she feels though. :|

Seriously. Everyone in this show is pretty cool except Nicoletta.
I mean, who randomly moves to a new city with no job or plan? If she was on vacation for a week, that would make more sense, since she'd make her case, get her revenge, and then leave. But NO! She moves there and forces her way to work at the restaurant and starts falling for one of the staff who has his own romantic issues(poor guy) and is not even cool or special as a character. I understand this was done so she'd have a reason to stay at the restaurant and stuff but it's a lame excuse.

But other than her, this show's pretty good.

Nicoletta went to the city with the intention of confronting her mother and step-father. This was a temporary situation, clearly, which is why she was staying at a hotel. After bargaining with Olga she stayed in the city, in an apartment arranged by her mother. This didn't sit well with her (being kept without working) so she bargained again and gained an apprenticeship. None of what ended up happening (moving to Rome, falling for Claudio) was pre-arranged. Whether you like Nicoletta or not, she didn't intentionally move to Rome without a plan. She stayed in Rome contrary to her original plans.

To add to what missdeep said, it should also be noted that it was Nicoletta's grandmother that suggested she go to Italy to get closer to her mother. Of course rather than get close she wished to out her mother. Luckily her plans changed for the better.

Good addition! Nicoletta's grandparents really just hoped for a resolution between mother and daughter, which is why they were happy to support her visit to Rome. ^^

Yep, very annoying indeed. But as for the rest of the characters, I really love them.

I'm still waiting for the mafia sub-plot, but it was still a great episode. I liked the ending where she told Claudio about her mother.

Why....does this show have to so good? D: Seducing?

I don't really have much problems with Nicoletta but I have high tolerance for josei/seinen leads. Maybe it has something to do with me having really low tolerance for shoujo leads on the other hand. Maybe I just feel that josei leads are a little bit more grounded to reality than shoujo so it's easier to like them more. P: Or something...

Why does Claudio have to be so cute? I do hope for a happy ending.

I'm slowly starting to like this series more. Not that I think it's getting particularly better, but I'm getting attached to it.

I like that we got to hear about the romances of some of the other guys. It really helped flesh out their characters, but also the general atmosphere that Nicoletta is in now.

Speaking of Nicoletta, she seems to me like a shoujo heroine dropped into a jousei series: wide-eyed and innocent, but now in a world where things don't usually go the way you expect. But it seems like that's more or less the series' point -- it's all about Nicoletta growing up or finding her place in the world. So I don't think you can really find fault in her for being young and stupid, since that's exactly what she's supposed to be.

oh, these little earthquakes

Lack of gratitude? It'd be pretty hard to be grateful to a woman that ignored you for 15 years because she loved a man more than she wanted to be your mother. She's not downright being nasty to her, and she's not taking it for granted either (getting a job) so I don't know what kind of gratitude she's supposed to be showing :)

As for aimless, it's makes sense. I mean, most people either go to college and struggle trying to find a job, or come out of high school and struggle trying to find a job. ^^

I'm enjoying this anime a lot, mainly because it's different and has a fresh feel for me. As for this episode in particular, nothing really stood out, except for Nicoletta's little confession in front of the herb pot.

I want more flustered Claudio :D

That's how I see it too :)

I find this series so charming and am really liking Luciano, such a tsundere. Lol how all his round-a-about efforts to get Nicolette to cheer up made her more depressed!

So the lovely Caudio reveals his true name and so the name of the show falls into place. Really looking forward to the next episode!!

By lack of gratitude I mean being thankful that she has a job and doing it without moping around. I understand the mommy issues, so that's not really the case. She just can't separate work from anything because of the mess she put herself in. I don't pity her.

I actually hope that Nicoletta is a mature woman, but she seem to be stupid for some reason, but that’s not her fault because she don’t know to do with her problems. However, I’m glad to see her work her job, and she finally have a confession to Caudio about her mother then he gave his full name to her at the end.

To me, Nicoletta is fine. She's only 21, so she's young. In fact, she's still trying to figure out what to do with her life. She's allowed to be reckless. As long as she's learning from her mistakes, I think that she's going to blossom into a mature woman.

I basically agree with everyone above who is defending/giving Nicoletta some credit.

On a happier note, fangirl squeeeel... Never have I been so smitten by cute oyaji(s) to this extent! Like, wow... such grace and maturity and gentlemanly manners! *sigh.

Nicoletta is too shoujo-esque for my liking. She's raining on my oyaji parade while i'm watching this.
Hopefully she'll start maturing now that she's having these conversations with Claudio.

Olga: "That's why I had to keep you a secret!" *laughs* "Sorry!"
That pissed me off, she's so disgusting.

Olga is a fucking bitch who deserved to have her life ruined the moment Nicolleta set foot in Rome.

The weird thing is that her mother completely abandoned her and it feels like the anime is trying to make this a normal thing. Other than that, i love the atmosphere and soundtrack.

Nicoletta doesn't actually bother me as much as she seems to be bothering others here.
I get tired of silly lovestruck airhead female leads pretty quickly but since Nicoletta's actually taking charge of her own life instead of passively watching, and she does have her own set of usable talents instead of being a damsel in distress, I don't dislike her.

Claudio is kinda moe (been thinking this since last episode) I am surprised. I can see why Nicoletta fell for him and support her. Loving it.
How can you hate Nicoletta tho, she's been a really fun protagonist so far.

I liked this show originally. But now this episode really sells its greatness. It's so nice to have a show with adults being adults, as hard as that can be. I'm sooo glad there are connections being made and those connections are honest and happening slowly. The mother connecting to the daughter is amazing. It was neat seeing Olga's workplace and Claudio's exwife. And the connection between Claudio and NIcoletta. She's so in an unusual situation. ALmost drwoning and unknown to her she's starting to live a real life, what she obviously has been wanting since a child.

It is really nice that Olga isn't just some mean bitch. And that she's really being honest and caring for Nicoletta. The talk they had, wow. Loving how patiently this show is unfolding...without rushing and exploding in big arguments.

Can just agree with most parts of your post.

Organic characters and their interactions along with the down to earth drama are working so well in this series.
