Rip free speech for my boy Amer.

You know I think the real problem with this show is that literally nobody was expecting this show to involve politics, and most ppl are annoyed that it does. Especially since assuredly the majority of MAL users are American so you can you really blame them with a buffoon like Trump in office lmao.

I see a lot of people refer to Valerie as the female Trump, but honestly... she looks, dresses, and acts eerily similar to Hilary Clinton (even the shade of her hair and eyes are the same as Hilary Clinton). She flip-flops on her politics and seems to have no attachment to any of her current rhetoric, she adheres to whatever's popular (ie listening and doing everything her adviser wants so she can be on top), she's got a warhawk mentality when it comes to Earth... Being tough on borders, closing borders, and so on was something Hilary talked about the first time she tried to become president. Valerie is much closer to Clinton than Trump.

Weird rant, I know, but each time I check out these boards o see what people think of the show, it's almost always filled with how people hate her because she's fem Trump, and it honestly just doesn't seem to be the case at all. It's even weirder with this episode... Crash the server is like Antifa stuff, and people are digging on that (start riots? Lol), but get that icky fem Trump stuff outta here. Do you want politics or not? Be consistent XD

Anyways, when anime/manga wants Trump in their media, it's very obviously Trump. This is very obviously like 2003-2007ish Clinton.
Crash the Server is more like giving authority a taste of what its given them. The fact you equate the disenfranchised standing up to injustice to Antifa says a lot about who you are.

I see no issue at all with the political aspect of the show. The entire show is about a future that envisions where technology and music can become intertwined (must as it is currently in our streaming era). But it is fascinating how it shows that same technology potentially having a role in politics and intertwining music and politics itself. It is all very Watanabe, in general, to intertwine a number of seemingly unrelated elements together to capture a sense of scale in his episodic style of worldbuilding.

Excellent show.

Ah...the Grammy Music Awards. Being nominated is a good thing in and of itself.

However, the politics backdrop is sure getting rough. And Tao sure knows how much it detriments him for his research to be used that way, and backed down quick. Jerry Egan's chummy business is leading ways to disparity to cut Tuesday's mom's lead.

Carole finally meeting her refugee friend Amer a.k.a Ezekiel. But the meeting went awry due in part of old memories that don't exist anymore. No matter how much of a life they both lived, their direction is the only direction ahead of them.

Ezekiel's rap song is damn cool, literally light into darkness. Opening up the consciousness of the world to stop everything in their way.

If this is Watanabe's shtick converging dífferent situations in the same timeline, please make the final 4 episodes coherent.

so Amer Souleyman did something horrible making song to make earthling
refugees look problematic than making how they really feel about Mars treating them
meanwhile the politics in mars gotten more complicated Tao gotten arrested and
female Donald trump (Don't remember her name I guest Valerien) children getting rebel and her relation to her children gotten worst because of political stuff and someone is controlling her
meanwhile Angela is on the lost, it seems she doesn't know what to do after Tao gotten arrested, she got her AI replica that looks creepy and her mama has an illness and it seems she wants to see her child got to win (achieve something in her expectation) before she dies (theory not spoiler) but Angela Don't want to be controlled or to be expecting high (or something I don't know about her)

When I think of people asking to start riots, destroy property, while giving a really bad name to their cause and the people that are suffering from it... I think Antifa. Amer isn't helping anyone out with his narcissism.

I came here wanting to say most of this. Trumpian politics are such a meme that we now associate any sort of immigration issue with him, pretending it's not a talking point anywhere else or never has been before. It's bizarre.

So the main question of the day is: Is Angela an immigrant as well? Would not be surprising after Dahlia's words there.

Also LOL @ people hating on the politics. It's a show mirroring our time. Pathetic that people get mad at shows that make them have to observe and think critically about what's happening in the world around them. Seems so many people would rather just vegetate in front of their screens and get off to all the pretty girls. Sad.

Wow, get off your high horse. That's the problem exactly. The show doesn't make you think. It just shows a political plotline about immigration in the most bland, generic, naive way that really has nothing unique or thought-provoking to say about the issue beyond what we already see in the news and media every day. This show IS encouraging people to vegetate in front of their screens, and setting a lot of aspiring artists up for disappointment to act like it's just as simple as magically running into a musical new best friend, magically running into a manager with big connections in the industry, magically winning a talent show you clearly weren't as good in and broke the rules of, magically finding a band that will play for you for free, and magically getting nominated for a grammy within a year of releasing your first single. This show is bonkers. Nothing in it is realistic at all, and as much as it seems they want to make people aspire and dream, I think they're doing it in such a stupid way that it isn't actually helpful. Carole & Tuesday never have any serious problems or setbacks. Everything just falls into their laps and they can just keep cranking out radio hits like it's nothing. Even when Tues got taken back in by her mom's goons and they broke her out of the mansion... and their manager/staff are the ones who got arrested, you gonna tell me that didn't make the news? The media isn't saying ANYTHING about the daughter of this presidential candidate being a new music artist who ran away from home?

It's just stupid. There may be some charming things in there, some heart, good music, and maybe even some lessons go be learned, depending on how it all ends, but the show is not smartly written in the least. If you want to see a smartly written political plot, check out Terror in Resonance. That show has a DEEP reflection on Japanese and American post-war politics (deeper yet if you know your history about the agreements the US and Japan made after WWII and Japan's limitations under the post-war treaties, also the diabolical truth behind Japan's unit 731 and what happened to the information they learned with that project). It's by the same writer/director so we know he can do it. He just seems to have missed the target this time.

I'm aware that everything falls into the laps of the main characters. That's not the part of the show I'm praising. I just think that people are so braindead to the current issues facing our world, or they don't want to think about them, or are ignorant to what's going on, or are falling victim to news outlets that hide or twist the truth, that's it's nice to see a show like this portraying it plainly and simply for them. Not everyone wants to think so deeply and critically about certain themes or messages in the media they consume, so a show that just puts it out there bluntly and in a way everyone can understand is, in my opinion, their way of trying to get more people interested and involved in the issues facing us all.

Like, I'm sure there are many anime fans out there who are aware of the state of our world, but I feel like this show is more so targeted towards those who actually just don't care about that sort of thing, because they're either too privileged to be affected by it or think it's not important. It's to wake people up to the issues in a way that they can appreciate and understand them.

Never thought I'd hear Denzel Curry in an anime, let alone him being the main voice of a full scene lol

Not a fan of the politics in the show but I guess they wanted another plot and not just focus on music.

I wonder if Dahlia is really dead or we'll see her in a hospital next episode. Tao and Ezekiel might work together, I would love to see that. Ezekiel's character design is cool and don't want to see him go so early.

Just four more episodes! Aside from Woolong, I wonder if they'll make any more Cowboy Bebop references in the future.

This politics subplot feels kinda heavy. They have 4 episodes left and it looks really hard that they'll fix everything since it doesn't obviously look like it's gonna be a multi season (it says it from the 7 minute thing that Gus talks about at beginning of every episode). I'm honestly kinda worried

So... Amer and Tao becoming homies and breaking out from prison when?

Overall, quite average episode. I still don't know what to think about this Ezekiel guy... I was honestly wishing his character to be less stereotyped and have more heart but well, I guess it's what it is. I was also expecting his song to be more meaningful rather than just an excuse to encourage people to start riots and as a result, to give Valerie more reasons to think badly about the immigrants.

Anyways, let's see how this new plot line will be handled. Hopefully, without any romantic development between Carole and Amer because it would look really forced. Though that slight blush from Carole gave me some bad hopes already...

Tremendous episode !, there were very exciting moments, both emotional and shocking. The authority on Mars begins to get out of control, a band of corrupt politicians control everything behind the scenes, and the ringleader of everything is Jerry's stupid. Damn bastard!
It was great to hear the nomination of Carole and Tuesday for the Mars Grammy, they deserve after so much effort.
Tao deserves my admiration, he remained firm to his ideals, apart from politics, despite the danger.
I will not judge Amer, Carole's friend, apparently suffered long before he was a musical artist, the sad reality of an immigrant. He tried to impact and leave a message to people through music, but pitifully, he was arrested.
This phrase "It's not a fight for music, it's my fight for survival," I thought it was very cool.
And finally, Angela has every right to decide whether to surrender or move on, her mother (father) only used her to fulfill her selfish goals that she (he) could not fulfill in her youth.
The next episode will be a mess.

The main storyline is not coherent and the direction is a mess. Angela and Tao are the only decent characters in the entire show but the overwhelming amout of pointless characters in the other side is annoying.
