I'm not really digging the new OP and ED tbh, I liked the old ones a lot, especially "Hold Me Now".

We're 13 episodes in already and I still fail to see what's so special about Angela. I like her voice but her music to me feels generic, plastic, and just boring. Maybe it's because I'm not into that kind of music, but literally any of the other musicians on the show I found way more interesting.

I liked the fact that Gus rejected the contract. I think it'll make the journey way cooler. I trust him.
We'll see what happens with this Tobe guy next week!

The miracle 7 at the beginning is still with us I feel like a lot of us are its children waiting for it to die.

Oh shoot. I sometimes forget that one day people like Ellen Degeneres won't be alive to host her own show anymore. I ended up laughing at seeing "Allen", but then I suddenly couldn't help but succumb to that chill brought about by the inevitable demise of all our relatively short-lived generations.

Anyway, I hope everything goes well! I can't even soundly guess where things will go at this point.
I'm glad that Gus is at least kinda looking out for them. Honestly, he's doing a lot more for them than it seems.

Enjoy your anime! | Witch Cafe Wisteria

Oh boy...stuff be brewin'. Also...is it me or does Angela sound like Ariana Grande in the end theme? In fact...is her character based off said girl? I certainly hope not...since Ariana Grande is trash level. Anyways, Gus rejecting the contract was a surprise but the music industry is full of sharks so maybe he is doing something good. Also...Tuesday's mom is....oof. She screams scandal.
Don't believe the hype.

Angela signed a contract with Brightest Records and presented her new song. Carole and Tuesday were in the laundry, Carole helped a man named Dann with his machine and later, he helped them when some guys annoyed Tuesday. Gus, Carole and Tuesday went to a meeting with Brightest Records, they saw Angela, after that, they met with Catherine to talk about the contract, but Gus ended rejecting her. Valerie (Tuesday’s mother) gave a speech, she has an assistant helping her and a guy (journalist) was taking photos, he later talked with someone else. Gus talked with the girls, telling them that he could be their manager, but they must look for a productor. Carole, Tuesday, Gus and Roddy went to the suburbs, they established and started to play, suddenly a man with an axe appeared, Tobe, the productor Gus is looking for.

Hey, I liked the other opening and ending. The story progressed, they rejected the contract and they’re gonna do it by themselves. For a moment I thought that Spenser was going to talk about the support to his sister Tuesday. That guy, Tobe, looks mad.

How so? The girls just follow Gus around and do whatever he tells them to, basically reduced to singing machines, not making any decisions of their own. And because we don't get to see Gus' thinking process it just ends up looking like a random string of events.

I don't think you're understanding it from a Japanese POV. While this anime is incredibly unusual in how it integrates so much from the Western world (the singers, dual-language YouTube vids/website, the references, etc...) it's still a show by Japanese and for a Japanese audience. They aren't as fatigued with American politics themes as Americans are. The creators and writers aren't American so I don't think they're forcing any beliefs onto their Japanese audience who don't care much about what Trump does anyway. There's a Japanese media fascination with him, sure, but when it comes to the average Japanese anime viewer I don't think they see Tuesday's mom as an outright Trump commentary.

Plus I think it's just bad timing. C&T as a series was probably written at least a year ago – this situation just lined up interestingly now that deportation is the #1 topic in American news.

I know their point of view is completely different (Japan is still very strict in who they let into their country and 92% people on the islands are native-born japanese) and I actually like they are not fatigued by such things as they are still able to make fun of it but it still feels cheap and shallow. They are literally making a comment on something they really don't understand well and it shows. ShiningLion summed that well on the first page. I don't mind seeing such references in the anime (like it was in Inuyashiki) but if it goes outside of one joke (like here) the show better has some solid ground to build on and Carole and Tuesday is not the case. I think it would be a lot better if they didn't make things so obvious as currently it seems whole 7 secons miracle is all about it which is underwhelming.

Also, as for the target demographics - Watanabe's series often tanks in Japan and Carole & Tuesday is no different, it's not really that popular there from rankings I've seen. I briefly went through some japanese comments that I found and while it is true they don't care much about the politics (although they are commenting on Tuesday's being basically Ivanka it the anime), they don't like the music and general approach the series have. They are basically finding it too boring and criticise that whole developement up to now had basically no meaning as we are back to square one. One comment I saw was disappointed about Carole and Tuesday not taking things seriously, like with their decision Money or Freedom and that they are forcing the responsibility on Gus and making solve everything for them. Most of them expected some solid drama, wanted to see the darker side of the music industry, yet they didn't get any.
And I can kinda understand their disappointment myself.

I liked this episode, although I don't get some of these twists. I mean, Gus cancels a huge deal and wants the girls to do everything on their own now. And then he finally asks a weird guy somewhere in the slums of the city for help... Well, I guess it adds to the excitement. The scene with Tuesday's mom was good though. It is bold to bring up the topic about the immigrants and relevent too like most of Carole & Tuesday's references. I am curious how her compaign will unfold and how it affects Tuesday's career. Well last but not least, Carole just had a chance encounter with her father at the laundry. Enough storylines to keep this anime interesting. Can't wait for next week!

Yeah, re-watching all the eps again during that break makes me realize how much autotuned Angela's voice is, except when she was singing a capella in that one episode. For some songs, it worked well, like "Light a fire". But the autotune is quite strong in this one. The thing is, she prob didn't even need it. But I guess it's prob to emphasize the difference between her (and the AI music generally) and C&T.

So the second half starts with an introduction of several potential, new plot elements. However, the way they were presented has already hinted at rather foreseeable roles. They will hopefully surprise us with something unexpected.
Carole and Tuesday remained passive as always and you could be happy if they spoke more than two sentences at a time. In fact, I've given up almost any hope for their character development by now. They seem to stick to their limited roles as weekly song presenters.

Wow this show started off so lighthearted and calming at first but I'm very down to see it evolve into a show that just exposes the hell out of Hollywood-style industries and racist politicians.

Also lol at the people crying about the show getting political. Almost every form of media has political undertones in some form or another. Screaming about it honestly just makes y'all seem like immature children who don't want to have to think of the state of the world we currently live in. Easier to live in ignorance and bliss, eh? Well no, wake up and smell the tea. Politics are important and this show is trying to highlight those issues.

really didn't like Angela's new song. Way too autotuned compared to the stuff she did before. Not really sure that is intentional, but regardless.

Army of Two was fantastic though.

The political angle set up seems to be pretty interesting to add to the narrative. I quite liked the little moment when Carole says "It sucks that kids dont get to choose their parents". A nice sentiment that unites the two characters in different ways.

Also, the humor was quite funny through the use of animation/art (the ego stroking contest between the managers had me dying lmao).

All in all, this was a pretty solid episode to set off the 2nd half.

Valerie is the Martian space child of Hilary and Trump lol

Anyways, I'm almost certain that Dann is Carole's dad but he probably won't admit it. He probably thinks his daughter has a better life in Mars. Of course, lots of people will claim to be related to Carole, now that she's slowly becoming more famous.

I can understand where Gus is coming from but it will be difficult. Kind of like how a YouTube can be famous but not rich. They have creative freedom but unless they partner with sponsors or companies, they won't earn much. The industry is cruel to independent artists.

I truly want to like Angela's songs but it's really difficult for me, given the generic and super repetitive lyrics. Just counting the times she sings ''fire'' in Light a Fire is enough to get pissed off. Now the new ending song, which is also about ''breaking chains'' like her last song, keeps repeating ''I'm not afraid of love, no more. I know it's dangerous, for sure''. If AI's make that kind of music in the future, please count me out. I have nothing against mainstream music, I listen to everything that sounds nice to me regardless of genre, but at this point, it's just lazy lyric writing :/

Great episode, I like the new ed but not the new op. I like the visuals for both. I already miss

(this video deserves more hits).

I think Dan is related to Carole in someway. He may not be her dad, but at the very least he knows/knew her parents. I bet Carole's parents abandon her because they wanted to protect her. Carole is a teenage refugee and the perfect target for Tuesday's mom Space Trump. Hopefully, Tuesday will learn to speak up by the time her mom goes after Carole.

LOL, this made me think of the little gem from 2016

I like C&T and Angela's new song. Tao playing with a Rubric's cube was funny. I am here for Tangela. I'm also here for crazy producer Tobe.

I also love that C&T and Angela's songs continue to play off each other.

Last episode Angela + C&T paths are intertwined they are Mar's Brightest

Carole (Loneliest Girl): Do you really want to set the night on fire?
You're my only way out.

Angela (Light a Fire): Oh, I was born to break these chains
Like a spark before the flames
Watch me light a fire

This episode they've decided to take different paths. Angela's path big studio and big money. C&T are going to take the more hellish path which won't be easy.

Angela (Breathe Again): I wanna breathe again
I wanna find my heaven

C&T( Army of Two): Carried each other to hell and back
Into a brand new dawn

The music while still being awsome, I liked the first OP and ED better, but C&T still sounded great with "Army of Two".

Hope this does not get overdramatic with the possible father and Tues' mother situation, a regular love drama is enough.

This is definitely the most important episode in the show so far as it relates to the plot going forward, foreshadowing included. First, to get the smaller things out of the way, the new OP is really lacking and will take some time getting used to, while the new ED is very interesting, as it’s sung by Angela and has visuals that really remind me of Psycho-Pass. Allen is, no surprise, supposed to be a parody of Ellen which I found cute. The new songs were great as usual, and I’m really looking forward to see them on Spotify eventually. NOW, with all that out of the way, here’s the scene everyone seems to be talking about: Tuesday’s mom and the laundry scene. Okay so, if the comment on illegal immigrants didn’t give it away, Valerie is basically a parody of Trump (honestly a Trump/Hillary hybrid if you’re asking me), which while I personally don’t mind, the show writers are really walking on a tight rope as it relates to the current political climate. Many people point out that Valerie, if elected, will likely deport Carole as 1. She’s an (illegal?) immigrant from Earth and 2. Would basically solve her problem as it relates to Tues. As a plot point, that would definitely keep the show interesting as Valerie (and Tao) are the biggest antagonists in the show, but I really hope it doesn’t stray into a preachy political message, because no matter how good the intentions are, that would severely date this show for future audiences. I highly doubt it’s going to get extremely critical of American politics or Trump in general, after all this show is still at the end of the day appealing to a Japanese audience, most of whom couldn’t really care about the domestic politics of another country. Hopefully this show will be able to tell the story without getting too connected with current events, or else, like I stated before, it would easily become very dated 5 to 10 years from now, which I don’t want since it’s so far one of the best animes of the year. One last quick point, unless the show writers are really baiting us, Dann is likely Caroles dad, which is going to be very interesting to see play out, especially if it likely ties in with Valerie’s political arc.

Was it worth it to wait two weeks to see episode 13? Yes, it was worth it 😁 The girls start on a new path towards their debut as singers, like Angela.
I do not know if thinking about what Gus did when he rejected the Mars Brightest record label was wise, or silly. Anyway, that makes it more fun and exciting 😁.
I wonder what other situations put Roddy xD next to them.

Is it my idea or the Dann type, from the laundry, is some family member of Carole? I think he's her uncle. The guy gave me a good first impression.

Regarding Tuesday's mother ... politics is trash. I hope that does not interfere with the music career of the girls. I am worried about what the journalist said "This will not end peacefully".

Personally, I prefer the first opening of the anime, but this one is not bad. I like the ending sung by Angela.
I loved the song by Carole & Tuesday in the suburb.
Hahahaha, the legendary music producer, is really crazy. LOL 😂. This will be very fun. With this story you never know what will happen 😁. To wait for the next episode.

The"7 minute miracle" intro is not such a big deal where I think it's worth criticizing. It feels like a nit pick compared to what you could criticize the show for like story or (despite me loving it so far) the music. It's just part of the intro similar to how Kekkai Sensen or Law and Order shows it's intro. You can always just skip it.

Not sure how I feel about the new OP. I can't figure out the rhythm they're going for so it just feels awkward. The new ED on the other hand: BANGER!!!

The episode was really good. I really liked it. Coming from the Mars Brightest arc which felt like a drag to watch toward the end to me, this episode felt like the show is starting to move at the pace I felt it originally started with. I'm interested to see where it goes with Tue's mother and Carole's family situation along with Angela.

And of course both tracks from Angela and C&T sounded really fucking good.

Some of the audience shots are adorable. The fan girls watching Angela last episode got me and this time there was a shot of little kids watching her debut song on their phone and that was wonderful too. Overall this was a fun episode, it showed the growth the girls have had, being recognized everywhere and being invited onto "Allen"(lol). We had Tao dodging Angela's conference and playing with future rubix cubes which was quite a great moment as we could see the serious Tao having fun. We had Angela challenge Tuesday and Carole again and they took it as cheering them on quite wholesomely, "let's do our best!!". We had the wonderful Gus sequences, "walk like you own the place girls, it's all attitude!", then butting heads with Mama, then challenging and rejecting a great deal with faith that he can get the girls to break out with freedom intact! "I rejected it!" >:)

Notably Angela represents constraint and money and fame. She has no control. She's doing this initially because she's been thrust into this life. She's not writing her music she's having it made to garner the most fans and she probably got a restrictive deal. Whereas Carole and Tuesday chose to do this, Tuesday fought to play music, and their great manager Gus("he snuck himself in there, how sneaky!" hehe) refused to accept anything but the best for their sake. It really is a path of freedom vs a commercial path.

Tuesday's mom is femTrump trying to deport the illegal immigrants on Mars. Red and white signs that may possibly be alluding to Trump's colors coming from a woman who looks oddly like Trump. She even has her cute boy on stage with her. Speaking of Spencer he's interesting in that the new s*xy reporter is suggesting there's some foul play with Valarie and despite being good of heart he goes along with her. Their relationship could be complex of course and he is complacent despite his kindness to his sister. The face scanning software to see who's supportive is super cool and scary.

Carole spoke more about her parents twice this episode, about how she doesn't want to meet them expanding her parent plotline. In the same episode filled with these ideas they meet a nice man named Dann who has the same eye color, hair color, and skin tone as Carole which makes me think he's most definitely her father. He's also a nice man who can kick butt like she can. Plus you know, earlier Tuesday wondered if they had a reason to send her away in a refugee camp or whatever and Dann was shocked to see her. I bet due to the state earth is in they had to abandon her to keep her safe and upon seeing her on television Dann came back to see her even if the approach is difficult.

Then.. the potential 5th member of the group is a screaming, angry insane looking man with a big belly and an axe. Gus did say Tobe would get pissed off whether he liked you or not! If he does happen to join the group then I would love it, we need more unconventionally-s*xy dad-aged characters in anime. That whole playing music in a bad neighborhood attracting everybody to run over was so cheesy by the way, hahahahahaha.

i'm more fond of the first opening, but i gotta admit the second ending by angela is probably her best song.
i have a heavy suspicion the man that carole & tuesday met in the laundry place is carole's father, hence his reaction to her and looking at her. and the political aspect that carole's mother is pushing in here might be that carole's parents had to abandon and leave her on mars because they came to mars illegally.

New ED is lovely.

Anyone else have grief with how upbeat most-to-all of the music is, especially the leading music? All this "now's my time" and "you and me are dabes" and "I'm gonna take the world" shit. Write something about how you want to die, stuff people can actually relate to, like me.

Uhm, why do I have the feeling that the whole "deport the immigrants" topic will be important later on? Man, I hope Carole is legal...

By the way, I wonder if somebody didn't get the hint of who this Dann guy might be... I mean, it couldn't have been more obvious.

Anyways, it wasn't the best of episodes but it was a decent way to start this second cour. Now, let's see how this crazy gramps will be able to help C&T.

On a side note, I'm not a big fan of the new OP if I'm honest. The first one was way better. And regarding the ED, it was good but "Hold Me Now" was so damn catchy I won't forget it so easily. "Army of Two" was also a pretty nice song, by the way.

So much happened this episode; it was a dense one for sure. The second cour starting off with Watanbe parodying Ellen was way funnier than it should have been. The two girls being as scared as they were to go on stage was adorable. I don't think they "messed up big time" either. It was a perfectly acceptable reaction to being on national television for the first time. Angela got signed for 20 million woolong, which, according to woolong.com, is approximately $190,000. Not bad. I don't really agree with Angela's choice of a debut single. Her other songs were better. Ten bucks says the karate master is Carole's dad. I honestly like that the draft got rejected. I didn't want C&D to get an easy way to fame. It's more interesting if they have to work for it. Wonder what these shady connections are the reporter was talking about. It wouldn't be too implausible either, with the mother already having been established as a shitty character. Tobe looks fucking nuts, I love it.

Quick side note: The new ED is awesome. I may like it more than the last one. Good shit.

Nice episode! I wondered how it would continue from the competition, and I think that they handled it well. Gus rejecting the offer was great, I'm glad he's still going his own way, he's a good character! The ending was awesome too, looking forward to more of Tobe!

I have a strong feeling that the guy they met in the laundry is related to Carole.

*Is Tuesday's mom basically Trump and Hillary fused into one? lol.

*Is Dann Carole's dad?

I think that Carole is in danger of being deported since she was originally from Earth, not Mars :O

I didn't like the new OP much :(

I'm 99% sure the guy in the laundry scene is Carole's dad or at least related to her

Tuesday mother sounds an awful lot like a certain person irl, I have this weird feeling that she is going to use Tuesday for some PR

Well with a producer like him you are sure to get some hits....
