You should never expect another season to an, anime that hasn't already been announced, especially if LN/Manga sales are still going strong. If the sales are starting to dip, then you can try to get your hopes up that the committee decides it's time for another 24 episode Manga advert. |
| Following the post above, this implies that White Fox is really open to make a third season of Re:Zero. The author of Re:Zero wants to see his whole story being adapted into an anime, it's not an advertisement for its source material. Season 2 has been very successful, especially in Japan where the first cour was #1 on Netflix for a while. The ongoing LN also has content for two more seasons, compared to back in 2016 when it didn't have enough content for the second season. The only thing that reduces the chances for a third season is that White Fox is in big trouble thanks to covid. They've been lacking in staff and it showed in season 2. If they can hire more people back, we have a fairly high chance for a third season, probably sooner than later. |
| We will find out next week by how they’ll adapt the finale. Season 1 ending was premature. Only for them to add back the actual ending 4 years later via director’s cut. We could theoretically predict whether we’re getting a new season or wait another half a decade for one. If it ends like the way the novel ends its chapter then yes, we will most likely get a new season......soon-ish. If it ends like the first season, probably not. |

| Several big anime shows are coming to an end or have ended recently, Attack on Titan, Food Wars and Seven deadly sins is ending soon. SAO could be entering its final arc as well. Re.Zero is ready to fill the void left by those flagship anime. Its extremely popular and given how well written it is it deserves multiple seasons. |

The story is planned to be 11 arcs long in total and every arc from now on should make for a double cour season (the first arcs being the shortest). So yeah, up to 7 seasons left. |
