Episode 7 adapts the latter half of Chapter 28 through Chapter 32. Not too many major changes.
- Manga: Jinguuji suggests destroying each village house, one by one. Shen asks if he calmed down yet.
-Manga: Shen mentions that the squid statue is life-sized.
-Manga: Jinguuji says that a squid that is big and even speaks is just so gross.
-The depiction of the Squid God asking for a girl slightly differs from manga to anime. The anime includes the villagers in a boat on the sea.
-Manga: Lou was wearing skimpy underwear instead of her usual outfit. This skimpy underwear will be bought up in a future episode.
-Ch 28's Author's Note: After running out of ideas, Author gives drink working a try. Recommends for people who are telecommuting. Uses "Oni-Lemon", which is Coca-Cola branded, Lemon-favored, canned cocktail.
- Manga: When presented with the squid, Jinguji thinks "At least it tastes good."
- Manga: When Lou get accused as a thief, she says "Doesn't the blessing of the mountain belong to everyone?".
- Manga: In a mini-comic after Chapter 21, Lou goes on a solo-travel, thinks about going to a crowded town first, then gets captured by goblins with low libido.
- Anime: Lou falls down a cliff during her journey.
-Anime: the squid legs can be chewed for a lifetime. But they cannot be bitten off. Jinguuji notes its long lasting flavor after fishing for three hours.
- Anime: The anime adds a scene after Lou gets eaten by the squid. Lou's assistant mourns the broken acorn she was given by Lou.
(Edit: this scene was from a mini-comic from Ch 48.5, oops)
-Ch 29 AN: Author watches Anpanman (children's anime) with her kid. Thinks Currypanman would be cute as a girl.
- Manga: Tachibana mentions that this will be his last sunset he gets to gaze at.
- Anime: the R-18 content is specified as blood, rather than just gray pixelation.
-The squid pictured in the anime during the line "Gigantic squid is scary" is slightly plumper than the manga.
-Manga: Tachibana's "I'm not gonna talk to you" line is illustrated with the simplified figures, rather than a flashback.
-Anime: Jinguuji tells Tachibana to try to focus and not underestimate himself during the flashback sequence. In the manga, he says that he's not focusing and blind to his own fault. This may be a difference in subtitles though.
-In the anime, the narrator mentions that Jinguuji didn't talk to Tachibana after that, rather than Tachibana thinking it.
-Manga: Before resolving to rescue himself, Tachibana screams "Where are you Jinguuji! Don't take what I take at face value!"
- Manga: While fishing for the squid, Jinguuji mentions that he didn't take any protein, but that shouldn't have affected him.
-Ch 30 AN: Manga was nominated for Tsugi Ni Kuru Manga Awards. Author asks readers to vote for Fabiniku.
-Manga: the village wives criticize their husbands for getting seduced by Tachibana.
-Ch 31 AN: Author ( not the manga artist) sketches image of Jingujii finishing the squid with the squid statue. "Because the manga is really blessed with the sakuga."
-The anime specifies that knife used to finish off the squid is Tachibana's unused Damascus knife. Also apparently cuts real well.
-Ch 32 AN: Author thinks the village probably reeks of squid. |
