When i left off on the manga, the twin theory was confirmed. To quickly explain the twin theory, there is 2 of them, Ciel and the other one. And it was the idea that Ciel had killed his twin in order to live and all that weird stuff.

Turns out, the Ciel we have been watching isn't the real Ciel, rather the 'lost' twin. The real Ciel from what I remember reading comes back with Lizzy. As far as the twins, the real Ciel is the one who is more out going, a leader, was suppose to own everything etc etc etc while the 'fake' Ciel we have been following he was the one who has always been sick, very shy, never went outside etc etc etc.

So while yes he is trying to get his parents back, he is also severely jelous of his brother, so much that he steals his identity and poses as him.

That is what I remember from the manga which been s few years since I read it so I can't tell you much more than that but it was pretty wild when it was revealed.
