It doesn't really fuck with your brain because the Syndrome's causes and effects are NEVER explained, and tbh they weren't the point.
I feel sorry for everybody who tried to find some meaning in Futaba's Quantum Theory rants.

So basically this Anime was just trying to sound smart but failed horribly. I don't get how this is so popular.

As long as it's enjoyable it doesn't really matter does it?
That's why you should always ripoff quality stuff so that even if you mess up, it's still very unlikely for it to be below mid.
I love Monogatari Series

Not really; they basically created a scenario where highschool girls manifested supernatural powers because they wished for something to change, and it did, albeit drastically. It's like your typical shower thoughts, brought to life. Mai wanted to disappear from the public eye, and she LITERALLY did. And so on.

I think the quantum explanations were satirical in a way, given the writer wasn't expecting us to buy it, but played along. That's a quirky and unconventional way to write, I'll give him that.

Yeah man when I watch the movie at first I gave it a 9 but after some more time I was like “did it fuck with my head or was the emotional shock enough to make me think it’s 9” so now I have it at 8

i agree, the character writing was good enough that they didnt need to over explain the puberty syndrome- so every scene with futaba is just straight waffle

i dont think it was satirical. if it was then im sure there wouldve been a better way to go about it. whenever they over explained things i would often just zone out

But that's the thing; the explanations DON'T make sense. That's the reason it has a Supernatural tag, not a Sci-fi one.

Either way, that's just what I interpreted and everybody won't feel the same way.

Why would he include a bunch of quantum mumbo-jumbo, which (according to you) should not be taken seriously

It comes off as witty and ironical, given that the world is undoubtedly supernatural, yet Futaba is trying to make some sense out of it. The MC in this case is clearly meant to be a stand in for the audience, because he takes everything she says with a grain of salt, thoroughly unconvinced. It doesn't take a lot to notice that. If you're taking it seriously, or have a problem with not taking it seriously, that's your interpretation of the media, and you can't really expect me to be on the same page.

I'd have no problem taking the quantum explanations from a non-serious perspective if it weren't for the fact that there's still no convincing evidence that they add anything meaninful to the story or even need to be included in the first place.

This statement sounds like an oxymoron. Why would you take them seriously if you felt they didn't add something to the show? Not everything about a show needs to somehow elevate the narrative; that's a very weird standard to have. Either way, I'm nobody to judge.

Parataxicalis said:

The quantum explanations are absolutely not witty. Specifically, it's not funny (in fact, I don't think it even attempts or pretends to be), and it's certainly not used in a particularly clever or insightful manner.
As far as humour goes, we'll have to agree to disagree. I wasn't particularly rolling around laughing either; but it was something I found amusing.

Parataxicalis said:

I'm also not convinced that this "ironic" contrast between the supernatural and the scientific you speak of has any real meaning or purpose in the broader framework of the story. The way you describe it makes it look more like an accidental afterthought than a purposeful inclusion.

I don't think I ever gave the impression I was trying to 'convince' people. I like talking about fiction in general, and this isn't even a show I'm very fond of.
And again, those are your standards. I can't imagine sitting through a show and expecting everything to add to the 'broader framework' of the story, as you said. Especially a show made for teenagers; male and female alike, to self insert.
Although I must say, calling it an accidental afterthought is quite the way to describe it.
