I just finished watching this anime, I kinda questioning what's the point of time travelling?
From what I know, Kohaku let the MC time travel to meet her younger self and have fun with its friend to overcome her depression??

Can she not do that in her present timeline? Based on the first and last episode she does have friends in that timeline also.

I am also not completely sure since it's been a while since I've watched it but I think that her grandma noticed it for a long time that she has had depression. The main character has tried to find a place of color for a while as shown by her expressionless face during the fireworks scene in the first episode. She might have lost hope around her and her grandma wanted to find a way to bring her back to normal by sending her to the past. The main character also wasn't as close to her friends or maybe didn't even have friends as shown throughout the season compared to her grandma's friends. This probably won't answer your question fully but it's the best that I can think of.

The point is that MC's grandmother due to pure plot convenience correctly assumed that time travel will cure her granddaughter's total colorblindness because emotions and feels or some shit. That's literally it.
It doesn't make any sense, I know.

This show is basically Glasslip 2.0.
It's just 13 episodes of random shit happening for no reason, so you shouldn't overanalyse it.

why do time travels need to have a reason? there are some shows out there cringeworthy enough to get to past with a mere handshakes

stop nitpicking!

Time loop (She has to) But also Kohaku’s best times were their time together, its only natural she would want to preserve that
Wataru doesn't care about the genuine thing

Yeah, kinda agree that it was for the sake of drama. It was exaggerated.

Also, it could, and should have been better with half of the running time.
Help! I need somebody. Help! Not just anybody. Help! You know I need someone. Helpppppp!

It's quite obvious, grandma had a good time with her friends when she was a teenager and that's why she took Hitomi there, so that she could experience it too, since she had problems that she apparently could not manage herself.

If that's the only reason, Its a waste! Can she not improve her social skill without time travelling???

Family will go to great lengths for their loved ones yo. Point is authors had to make it interesting somehow and the past is always full of shit to shake it up.

Chick needed a deep change of pace okay. That’s what was decided and we had to roll with it. Grandmother thought her friends from back in the day were a great example of friendship etc etc like making others live your experience because you want them to know exactly what you know.

Yeah whatever it was dramatic

Maybe grandma wanted MC to get to a time when things were simpler or less developed mainly less magic integration in everyday life. Plus grandma can help her more actively by forging deeper relationship with MC in the absence of the age gap.

Kohaku send Hitomi back to overcome her past, the reason Hitomi got colorblindness is because her self-blaming that make her hate magic,it made her unconsciously put magic on herself because unstable magic that related to her emotion. why the hell you guys didn't realized it? Bruh. Even some guy comparing it with glasslip. No one comparing this anime to glasslip, lol. It just nonsense.

The reason why she should time travel to the past was because Teenage Kohaku and her friends could help her, people with the same age could do better to help your emotion than elder, in Psychology world. And we don't need specific reason for why they're not doing it in the Hitomi era. Probably because there was too much bitter memories, so Time Travel could made her felt away from home. It also an odds for Young kohaku to become better Mage too. We don't have time paradox because this is magic time travel and not sci-fi. In the end it's still a solid story anime, it's not perfect but it's a good direction and execution.
