Meaning of the taoist motif in outlaw star.

Ive always wondered, not only looking at the logo ive seen the daoist symbol literallt strewn across so many places in this anime, almost like a motive, is there some kind of connection between taoist philosophy and this series?
It seems to borrow heavyily from daoist mysticism

I mean, I surely know nothing of the topic you speak of, but judging by what you said, doesn’t that just mean that there are many mangaka out there who are simply interested or intrigued by taiosim, hence use it in their works.

It's a show full of Chinese space pirate wizards, so there's bound to be some references to Chinese religion/philosophy. Whether or not any of the greater themes significantly tie into Taoist ideas I couldn't tell you.

well I mean for example, eden its an endless world takes a huge amount of stuff from gnostic iconography and theology, and another example would be Shoukoku no Altair taking a lot from the ottoman empire and some islamic themes.
