Subaru Instantly fell in Love with Emilia when he met her for the First time not to mention that Emilia is his ideal type of girl he wanted before he came into the other world

Emilia was the first Kind person he met who helped him though he was unable to save her he thought that it's his fault that Emilia Died and he couldn't do anything to save her
So he took it upon Himself as a sense of duty to Ensure that Emilia Doesn't die

PS: He also died multiple times in the beginning and also watched Emilia die before understanding what was happening to him

That's my theory Or reasoning Why Subaru Loves Emilia

fr bro when I completed the series long time ago I never considered once Emilia as a waifu for once its either Rem or after the last season most likely Echidna , still can't comprehend why ppl would like her.. not hating on her I'm mostly neutral about her

Because Emilia was the first girl he interacted with and the first one to show him kindness in the new world. If you remember the first episode or two, he had it pretty rough and she was the only ray of sunshine. Some people argue that if he met Rem or any other girl he would’ve fell for them, but given Rem’s personality I think that’s not really the case.

I’m pretty sure you watched ep 18 of s1 and she more than made up for it at least imo. I love Emilia but she’s never been my favourite because despite everything she hasn’t helped Subaru emotionally the way Rem did and she still doesn’t love him.

@Kitsune_089 Yes, I did, I'm fully caught up with Arc 8 of the WN, and again Rem > Emilia with the emotional support. Emilia did a lot, especially in s2, I'm not denying that, however, she was not the one to support Subaru at his lowest, that was Rem so my point still stands.

@Suryaaps, I agree. The Light Novels portrayed her much better than in season 1. Before reading the Light Novels, I was pretty indifferent towards Emilia and Rem. I just didn't care.

anyways “I love Emilia” isn’t Subaru rejecting Rem, it’s him resolving to be worthy of Rem (and Emilia). It’s a callback to the earlier line Rem gives Subaru about “the Subaru-kun that I love would never run away”

@JeXxTaR No I did not forget the lap scene. You're missing my point, I should've clarified a bit more and rephrased it to say that Rem's help was far more effective than Emilia's. The lap pillow scene was important yes, since Subaru was struggling with his repeated deaths and something he's still not used to, however, the entirety of ep 18 was about Rem supporting Subaru when he was at his absolute worst, which was not at the time of the arc 2 scene. Leading up to ep 18, Subaru lost Emilia's trust and no other royal candidate he reached out to was willing to help. He had no one to turn to and Rem was the only one to hear him out. Also, Rem decided to help Subaru of her own volition, after he helped her live for herself. Emilia pushed Rem towards being kind to Subaru but to say that ep 18 was because of Emilia is a far reach. Subaru saved Rem in Arc 2 and gave her a reason to live, Emilia had nothing to do with it.

I mean… Watch the show? He was the first nice thing he saw in the new world and being an anti social shut in, gravitated towards her and wanted to become her knight. When he rejected rem, it was after rem had said that she wouldn’t have accepted his proposal anyways since she knew he was trying to use her as an escape rope because of his trauma

People think Subaru fell for Emilia back in episode 1, but that's not really true. That's just him wanting to pay her back for saving him from the thugs. The lap pillow scene in episode 8 is when he truly fell for her. Believe it or not, Subaru's feelings for Emilia is much more than the "lol he's such a simp 1!11!!" BS.

True. Given that Subaru had never felt the touch of another woman pre-isekai, you would think that he would throw himself at Rem like moth to flame, and yet he doesn't? Why is that?
What you fail to consider is that maybe in his coom den, Natsuki Subaru fostered a type, a type which we can quite clearly see him hint at throughout the show. Author 'Tappei Nagatsuki' has placed clever hints and subtext in the story.

What an eagle-eyed viewer may be able to deduce from a few scenes of season 2's flashback, is that there is a figurine in Subaru's room. This figurine is of a silver-haired elf character named 'Alia' (explained in the novels), which is Subaru's waifu from an ecchi anime he likes. The figurine in question is of her wearing a one-piece swimsuit, holding up her feet so that both soles are visible. In the novels, there was an infamously long description of this figurine, and it's established that Subaru is very much a feet guy.

It's no stretch of the imagination then that when Subaru sees a girl exactly like his waifu - silver hair and all - that he pursues her relentlessly. The second reason he chose Emilia is that Rem is a maid. You can imagine being a maid requires a lot of footwork, so her feet are tired and worn, probably calloused from the labour. In contrast, Emilia is a princess and doesn't do her own chores, and is very sheltered. Subaru, being the rampant, deranged foot fetishist he is, elected to cosy himself besides toes as silky as whipped cream, whereas Rem simply lacks that.

With all this in mind, the answer is fairly clear. The LN goes into a lot more detail about this, and in Arc 8 Rem actually notices and buys a foot scraper to make her feet more dainty and appealing to Subaru. There's been no developments on that just yet.
