The reason Shinji beats up Takayuki isn't because Takayuki is a bad guy or he thinks his decisions are all that awful. Shinji throws a number of insults at Takayuki for all of those things but what actually makes him get physically violent is when Takayuki tells him that he should be the one to take care of Mitsuki - because he rightly points out that he has always loved Mitsuki and the real reason he came to lecture Takayuki at work isn't becuase of their friendship, but because Shinji loves Mitsuki and wants her to be happy.

The reason this sends Shinji into such a rage is beacause Mitsuki doesn't love him; she said as much a few episodes back when he tried to comfort her, and it's made even more clear by how she acts after they slepe together. Shinji knows that he can never be the one to make Mitsuki happy which is why he's yelling "it has to be you." He's not coming at Takayuki from a place of justice he's simply jealous that Mitsuki will never love him how much he cares for her, and she'll continue to love Takayuki no matter how shittily he treats her.

With all that said I hope Takayuki chooses Haruka, the only really blameless character in all of this. She's the one who really deserves whatever she wants.

Shinji mustn't be the smartest guy out there. Mitsuki cheating on Takayuki is not Takayuki's fault, and the decision to do so was something she made entirely of her own volition. Moreover, I think Shinji should be elated that Takayuki broke up with Mitsuki, since he already likes her, and because Mitsuki's an easy lay. Right now, Shinji has the chance he's been waiting for in the palm of his hand, yet he's getting mad at Takayuki?

I wish that everyone who’s insulting takayuki and blaming him for everything would explain to me what he’s done wrong exactly. All I can think of is kissing haruka(which he was supposed to bc they were hiding the fact that 3 years past so if he didn’t that would’ve been weird and hurt her which the doctor told him not to do) and not spending a bunch of time with mitsuki while being depressed. Which how can you blame him? With everything that’s going on I totally understand why he was acting the way he was. Then mitsuki let her doubts and emotions take over and even made it hard to be around her. I don’t blame her for having doubts but she never tried to understand his actions or how he was feeling. She just automatically assumes he’s more in love with haruka and is gonna leave her despite what he’s told her. I think he does have feelings for both but I truly believe he’s always gonna choose mitsuki in the end no matter what so everything she’s done is pointless and just hurting both of them more. I don’t think her emotions and him being distant justifies her actions but I do think Takayukis emotions and his current situation justify his. She first asked him not to visit haruka anymore just because she has doubts and then slaps him just because he still has feelings for haruka making it hard to be around her. She literally created the distance between them then she cheated on him because she felt lonely while he’s been depressed and dealing with a lot. Then after telling him she cheated she leaves him just because he didn’t get mad without even trying to hear his reasoning. She’s self sabotaging their relationship at every step but everyone blames takayuki just because he’s distant when he’s dealing with a hard time. I think most of what he’s done for haruka has been out of pity, guilt, and care. His real love is mitsuki. He had feelings for her before he started dating haruka and then he spent more time as a couple with mitsuki and really built a connection. I’m not saying either is perfect or either is evil but as far as I see it mitsuki is way more in the wrong than takayuki bc she is just letting her emotions destroy their relationship. Yes his emotions aren’t helping given his distance from her but as I said she literally caused that distance to grow wider than just him being quiet and troubled.
