The 12th and final episode of the television anime adapting Bukimi Miki's Shy manga announced a second season on Tuesday and revealed two additional cast members.

Saori Hayami (86) and Shunichi Toki (Tokyo Revengers) are joining the cast as Inori and Doki, respectively.

Produced by 8bit, the television anime began airing on October 3. Crunchyroll simulcast the anime worldwide with subtitles and an English dub, excluding Asia.

Miki began drawing the action drama story as a one-shot, which won the Newcomer's Grand Prize in Akita Shoten's Next Champion in 2016. The manga began serializing in Weekly Shounen Champion in August 2019. Akita Shoten shipped the 22nd volume on December 7. The manga has a cumulative 1 million copies of its volumes in circulation.

Yen Press licensed the manga in English in July 2022. The fifth volume went on sale on December 12.

Synopsis
Just as the planet approached its third World War, individuals with superpowers appeared from around the globe to maintain peace. They became the symbols of their respective nations, striving to limit crime and bring evildoers to justice. Teenage heroine Teru "Shy" Momijiyama is Japan's representative in the world of heroes. When a mysterious threat called Amalareiks emerges, Shy must work together with her fellow heroes to stop them at all costs. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Second season, huh? Well, I guess that explains why season 1 felt like a huge setup.

This is the content treadmill at work. People criticize Hollywood for using movies and TV shows to set up future content, but Japan is guilty of this, as well.

Didn't like it at first but it got interesting when they brought in Pepesha and her mother's backstory, hopefully S2 will keep up with the interesting stuff.

I heard that season 1 was originally supposed to get 24 episodes with it later being cut back down to 12, and looking at season 1 so far it really does feel like it needs those 24 episodes and luckily we're getting the extra 12!!

Very nice to see this I'm very excited!

Not a fan of this show, but I'm already starting to fear that a couple more years of such generosity and the studios will spoil me.

Figured this was in the cards when the show just kinda ended without the payoff you would expect. Wouldnt you know it I was right.
