THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Thought the travelling bard would become Hyakkimaru's teacher, but instead he just told him to stop feeling sorry for himself only to find some happiness and have it snatched away. Pretty dark so far.

The old man looks so ripped in this version, maybe he grew older between this series and the remake.

I really like how Mio is related to Hyakkimaru in a way in this version of the story.
The opening theme song is so damn catchy.

So in this version Jukai is an actual doctor and not just someone who could create prosthetics and the demons explicitly told Hyakkimaru to defeat them if he wants to live so he really doesn't have much of a choice. Mio's death still sad to see..especially in this one since the reasoning is a lot more shallow

(English) Hyakkimaru tells of his past with a girl named Mio and how important this was to him during his journey. The wars in Japan are violent and even innocent people suffer from this misery.

Hyakkimaru's past in relation to his adoptive father was also interesting. It managed to show the origin of the character in a good way.

I know this show's reputation precedes it somewhat, but dang I'm impressed so far.
