What did the one person who voted "other" say? Did I miss it, or did they just not post?

im also voting other. i think Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS (actually the entire nanoha series) is the best yuri anime of the past decade.. despite the fact that it is considered subtext..
i mean

i just love the very obvious feelings of love and the supersweet relationship btwn nanoha and fate.

my second place vote would be Mai Hime
the fact that

really made an impact on me..

Thats insane! SP got 60 votes!? D: was it really that good? I thought it was pretty mediocre cause it left so many things open ended...

KnM was the BEST ever! >:3 1st place for me

Maria-sama ga Miteru is great too! 2nd place for me...

if u read the manga, it was pretty much dropped in the middle of the climax.

KnM had no plot in all honesty compared with SP!... seems hard to believe that KnM had a better plot.

I think the title of the poll should be "What's Your Favourite Yuri of the Past Decade?" because that's what everyone has voted for.

Votes don't mean that the series is good. Right now, Yamibou has more votes then Blue Drop, El Cazador, CANAAN and R.O.D and Yamibou was just erratic madness stuffed with emotionally incestual angst.

Strawberry Panic, along with Marimite, are probably the most known yuri series to mainstream watchers and acted as a gateway for a lot of people. Thus many of the members here may recall lesbians, lesbians and lesbians, oh my! SP as being their first yuri or just the series that really stands out as YURI in captail letters. Depending on what you're after, there's no anime (or manga) that can beat Strawberry Panic! in terms of non-subtextual lesbians per square metre.

My vote goes to Kannazuki no Miko.
Candy Boy, Maria-sama ga Miteru, and Simoun gets a honorable mention though.

Oh don't mind me, I wasn't being critical of you. ^^; Just trying to emphasise the fact in general that the poll is more about favourites and popularity then it is about the quality of the series.

You would be surprised just how much people think their favourites are the best.

I am 100% certain that more than 89% of the voters earnestly do think SP! is a great anime, and it just so happens to be one of their favourites.

I voted Simoun
I know it's seen as a trap, but it's my favorite from the list.

Aoi Hana & Marimite would be second.

I also agree that the title should be "Favorite Yuri anime of the Past decade"

An anime being good on paper doesn't always make it good. The only true way to judge the quality of an anime is to look at how much you enjoyed it. Are you saying that an anime that's "deep" but boring to watch is better than an anime that isn't, but is fun to watch? By that logic, any SOL is a horrid pile of crap.

An anime's job, ultimately, is to be enjoyable. There are many means by which to achieve enjoyability, and to say that one way is by default superior to another, is down right arrogant.

That's the exact reason we're differentiating between 'best' and 'favourite'. You can enjoy crap and you can hate brilliance, but when someone asks for brilliance, don't give them crap.

Lucky Star v's Lain. Lain is god there for wins. You can't compare them, a side from the fact they're anime they have nothing in common, they're not trying to achieve the same thing. It's like comparing Six Feet Under to Sesame Street.

I'm totally guilty of that, with Y as shounen, especially Naruto or Inuyasha...

I enjoyed Candy Boy, Kashimashi and Strawberry Panic quite a bit, but I have to give my vote to Maria-sama ga Miteru, it's one of my all-time favorites.

Marimite's obviously my favorite, a lot of people criticize it for not having much romance; whereas I think its a good balance as for me the series was more about the characters instead of an emphasis on the relationships between the pairs of 'sisters'.

While not the best of series, Kashimashi seems to be one of the most underrated ones. I love how once Hazumu becomes a girl that he doesn't instantly know how to be a girl. It was really entertaining to watch her make mistakes and watching Tomari constantly correcting her.

I voted for Aoi Hana but my second choice would have been Marimite. Both of them are mainly focused on the relationships within the story, and these relationships are realistic. I enjoyed Strawberry Panic but it was mainly a parody and KnM had loads of cliches in it (Robots, Bishounen....) and so many other "yuri" rely on yuri goggles. Its nice to have the yuri relationship be the main relationship in the anime.

But thats just my opinion :)

well for me it always wille be Kannazuki no miko. nothin made that big impression on me. i felt i was gonna die in the end. when they were confessing to each other. amazing.
but one question where's Revolutionary girl utena? or at least a movie ? cause it is yuri you know? dementia + yuri= ;OOO

from the list i haven't seen ROD TV yet and i didn't like only Kashimashi.(weird, sex change with alien help? ;p)
i'm a big fan of Noir but i'm not sure if i see Kirika and Mirelle as something more than friends.

Sadly there's no anime for Asagao to Kase-san and many other nice shoujo-ai manga like Gokujo.

Sasameki Koto from the list. Anyway, this this list is already very old.

From the past decade, Watashi ga Koibito ni Nareru Wake Naijan, Murimuri! (※Muri ja Nakatta!?) is my favorite.
