i understand it me personaly have found myself strugle to watching it also but honestly the later part is give the story justice ( atlest for me )

the drama start to feel spicy and nice and the ending was nice

comedy wise ( boy IM gonna get a lot of problem) for me anime in general are just IM sorry but not really funny like the jokes is always some character do something stupid then the other yell at him/her.

while again this is not every anime IM talking here but alot of it just super repetitif and get used to many time and sometimes ITS just straight up cringe

so i unusualy just never hoping to laugh when i try to watch anime ( unles is comedy anime of course :v)

and i don't remember Toradora is have comedy in the genre tag at the first place

as for taiga don't worry she actually become only one that not anoying in the end of story ( like IM not joking her character development war chef kiss, heck even our main character is kinda anoyed me on the last 5 eps for being dense i still like him tough nice character)

no more smaking.. atlest only a little (i swear she geting beter ok )

overall ITS anime that leave you feel holow after finishing it even though ITS teknicly a good ending ITS give some weird feeling in my heart

i really hope you give it a try and not give up yet cus ITS maybe not the best anime or best romance anime but ITS an memorable story that i believe worth try but if you still don't like it after watching all of it maybe ITS not for you ITS ok maybe try again after some year it could be change you mind

This is masterpiece compared to 90% of romances in last few years. Go check ur eyes. Todays romance is so boring they just fill cute girl with no personality whatsoever and lucky guy who is amusing as wall and boom woyyaa first episode i love you, i love you too and that's it.

We probably shouldn't pretend like this is a masterpiece but you have to look at the time it was released, this was kind of groundbreaking for romance-comedy anime. Nowadays it's been outdone by a lot of anime with the same formula but that doesn't take away it's OG status.

The sound argument is that media is subjective. Most of MAL users like show and the tropes. It’s ok that people watch it and hate it, same for those who love it. Since media doesn’t have set rule of objectivity you can explain why “You” don’t like a show, but you can’t say it’s bad for a reason when people like it for that same very reason.

The right mindset when watching an anime is hoping that it will break your top 10

True, I was watching all popular shows on mal so I don't feel left out. I should have dropped it on ep 3 but now I have watched halfway might as well finish.

OP should watch chunibyoo. imo it's a better aged romance show from 2010~ era that is kinda similar to toradora. tsundere physically attacking the male MC is so very dated in 2025.

I recently watched toradora but I thought it's pretty good.

yeah IM agree if you say ITS not an masterpiece but to call it outdated is kinda to much ITS still nice watch in my opinion

and not gonna lie i don't really see any anime that similar ( romance anime that have heavy drama ) that beter than this ( movie not included) other than your lie in April and fruit basket

and again ITS not romcom its has no sign of comedy in the genre tag

Taiga is not even a Tsundere, but she will never lose that label huh? Just drop it already. Toradora still clears 99% of Romance anime and is like it suggests one of the best of all time. Taiga is only one of the best written female leads in Romance, but not many actually understand her character 😫

Don’t waste your time, Taiga is horrible and useless from start to finish. The characters are acting so dumb and irrationally especially later, it’s only saving grace was Ami. Even for it’s time it wasn’t anything special when Fruits Basket and Clannad existed, watch them instead if you havent.

I didn't like the FMC either tbh, so I get why it would be annoying, especially at the beginning, but I was kind of curious enough to want to know how the story unfolds, I finished it, I thought it was okay-ish but I still don't like her (nor his crush btw, the redhead.)
I thought it was really good given the rating - but one of the people here mentioned that it was new when it came out, so he does have a point - but it's normal to find something so popular and yet you don't like it.

That’s totally understandable. MAL users typically don’t like differing opinions. If you hate a popular “good” show you’ll be insulted and if you like a popular “bad” show the same will happen. Toradora just may not be your show, and that’s totally ok. If the show doesn’t resonate with you, that’s fine. We should try to focus on media that we truly enjoy.

I didn't think people liked Ami (didn't see discussions/opinions about Toradora since I didn't like it that much), normally, I don't like characters with similar traits or ones that you know it's going to be the pretty model who's extremely shallow, but I'd say her development was done well, and I liked her relationship with Ruyji, also, they were the only rational ones towards the end.. Mostly 😂

exactly if you don't like it ITS ok to drop it , anime should be an entertainment and if you force yourself to watch it ITS not entertaining

like ITS ok if you try to make an argument about your favorit anime,
and tell to them what make the anime good to courage them to atlest give it another chance,

The prime of active community, especially on MAL, was between 2005 and 2015. If you're looking closely, except the most populars animes of this last years, the most watched and biggest animes communities are for the most about anime before 2016 like FMA, or ToraDora in this case. Even the actual top 1 Frieren just passed the 1M members of community some months ago. I think this is a major reason

Just ignore MAL ratings, they are not important.
Everyone has different tastes.

Personally I don’t enjoy Toradora as compared to many other modern romance LNs such as Villainess Fiancee, Life Reversal, British Stepsister, etc.
