Damn, the background art goes hard asf here. Impressed with the production so far, but a little concerned that we might just be retreading some AoT themes here. The characters themselves have potential. We'll see. I'm cautiously optimistic!

Oh hey, another generic war fantasy.

Very original. At-least they have a higher Nutflix budget for the CGI.

I already don't care about any of the characters, so that's another good start. Generic fight action scene in the beginning didn't help.

EDIT: Oh these are Attack on Titan guys, that's why the visuals look the same generic ones, with default template of "white guy hero" this studio uses with imaginative heroic names such as, "Jack" and "Bob". Hopefully this isn't as dull and boring as the overhyped "The Ancient Magus' Bride".

First episode impression: I think this is the most expensive anime of this season, in part because it has 18 episodes instead of usual 12-13, but the quality is (with some margin of error) top level as well. And while more money doesn't directly translated to better anime, it's still moderately correlated. But I'm wondering if a weekly release is a better plan for this anime since people are gonna need some time to process a grand scale story.

PS: I already ship Jack and Phil.

Hello Edward ElricJack

Visuals and scenery are very nice. Ships of such size are usually in settings where interstellar travel is a thing like Trigun and Star Wars but the rest of the scenes show it's only between Moon and Earth. Plus whatever sufficiently advanced tech that looks like magic on the initial fight scene with the androids.

Jack is a rich kid.

Getting Psycho Pass vibes from Sapienta.

Oh it's Prince ArslanPhil.

We got our pseudo-colony drop

Ah there is Sieg ZeonHailZaft]Moonrise!

Bob Skylum who was in the flashback, presumably he adopted Phil.

So Jack is moon-born?

I hope this doesn't end up being Wit's Aldnoah.Zero.

The story so far is so-so, but the production is pretty good, from which the mechanical designs and the space architecture porn are the best part,
Lazarus should take a lesson or two from this show about 2D and 3D integration.

The Netflix quality seems poor during action scenes. I have tried on four different devices, but the bitrate is so low that every action scene becomes macroblocked and riddled with compression artifacts. Is there any chance this show will come to Blu-ray at some point or become available at a higher bitrate? It takes me out of the experience.

Interesting series.

I like the action.

Not a bad 3D animation.

MC got saved by someone in the past.

Rhys is an exceptional waifu material. I can't believe MC mostly ignores her affection...

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

That was very boring. Like, Metallic Rouge levels of boring. Didn't enjoy the family-friends dynamics. Didn't find the intended funny scenes to be funny. The premise isn't interesting either. Just typical colonial uprising stuff, but maybe there's more to be revealed? So, I can't knock it too much. I still want to at least watch 2-3 more episodes to see if it gets any better. I want to like it, but that first episode didn't hook me the way I wanted it to.

"By the way, Jack, You always play it cool and act so recklessly. Are you upset about being adopted?"

This is not a real conversation. The whole first half of the episode felt like a cringey highschool character intro but that horrible exposition disguised as a conversation with his parents sealed the deal.

So this is Wit Studio's version of Lelouch huh. Let's see how this goes, the second half has me hooked. The half-assed engrish ending wasn't necessary tho 😆 No opening song either? Good grief. That's how you know it's a Netflix show.

The plots are predictable but dang people here is so harsh as usual...just let me enjoy this

It was adapted from novel so I was expecting something more..at least in the next episodes

action and animation was cool as expected from WIT Studio

Characters still all over the place, but that to be expected

OP is the best from what i compared to other aspect. Its "lifting" like those sci-fi scores

Will watch until end...

Boring. 6/10. Dropped. Action-scene baits in episode 1 can't hide the bad writing. None of the chars seemed likeable. Too many introduced at once. Plot/Setting did not seem interesting and the past stuff thing seemed like they might focus too much on that. (Which usually isn't a good thing in anime.)

Lazarus did a way better job in episode 1- focusing on mainly one of the characters. Explaining the setting a bit more. And no weird flashbacks. (Such stuff should be introduced when needed only.) I am too picky nowadays. Staying with max. 2-3 anime a eason and not even wanting to try too hard with others and originally this was not even on my list.

hmm I wonder if it will go with yet another "oh no, poor Moon/Space people suffering by greedy Earth corporation" trope..
I mean having this streamed on Netflix does not add any confidence quite the opposite :(

P.S. Hiromu Arakawa have made character designs very similar to what we have in Silver Spoon :)

Chaotic opening sequence that doesn't tie in with the rest of the episode. Bizarre over dramatic follow up with dozens of characters introduced thrown at the viewers willy-nilly. Cool animation and sci-fi flavored background do not make up for the lack of solid characters. The only character that stands out as memorable is the drunken mom. And they killed her. WTF. I'll give it a few more episodes to settle down but if the producers don't settle down to the job of storytelling I'll dump it like a dead rat.

@Rogue598 It's better to read The Expanse books. There are more characters, and their stories are better.
And so... Remember the Cant!
