| I’ll just say that they’re too different to make a faithful comparison between. I personally enjoyed this anime more than the Netflix series because, as a fan, seeing all my favorite characters just interacting and living life was a treat. I realize that others- even fans- may find this format boring, and so I’ll respect anyone who prefers the Netflix show’s more chaotic and entertaining approach. They’re both takes on the same story, just at different points throughout it. As such (and thanks to the amazing writing of the games themselves), the tone will be completely different depending on where you choose to adapt it. |

| i find the new netflix anime to be better. dante got his wacky woohoo personality in this one and really good action, so that alone makes it better. not to mention the songs, like rollin', last resort and afterlife. bury the light and devil trigger would've been great had they not used lame remixes instead of the original. |

| @BasilZero Sadly since Studio Mir made the Netflix "Devil May Cry" it isn't considered anime since it's Korean and not Japanese. Thereby it won't be added on MAL. Unless the community really pushes for it to be added, the chances don't look great. |

The new DMC production is american, not japanese, korean or chinese, so that's why mal wont add it here. |

| Rewatched the 2007 anime after what feels like 15 years, and I have to say I enjoyed it. As a slice of life Dante show it's peak, getting to see Dante on his downtime when he isn't busy killing Demon Kings or bullying his nephew is nice. Artstyle is excellent, and while animation isn't exactly One Punch Man, it doesn't have to be to make a good show. As for Netflix DMC, it's honestly so bad. Dante is a lame pushover who makes Donte look decent, and Lieutenant Arkham is a Mary Sue who thinks swearing makes you cool(it doesn't). This show shouldn't exist, you're better off watching all the DMC3 cutscenes which would be an infinitely better experience. |

| I swear, they watched every corny AMV from DMC back in the early 2000 xD. like my teenage self back then. I enjoyed the series. Dante felt like Dante again. both the goofy and serious version. I hope they don't kill the mood either a 2nd season, but a clash between Brothers would be awesome. |

Why isn't the Netflix one listed on MAL?
| @aurora_yuuki MAL hosts only Japanese produced Anime and manga, 'most of the time'. That means Korean, Chinese, American and more series aren't on MAL. Though there are some exception. Solo Leveling by Chugong was made in South Korea, hence why its a Manhwa and not a Manga. But its on MAL anyways because the community heavily petitioned for it to be added. It literally took over a year of begging for it to be added. So the answer to why Devil May Cry which is made Netflix isn't on MAL is simply because its American and not Japanese. Thereby it doesn't qualify as anime by MALs definition. |

| Well the new netflix season is coming and i gotta say in the end i think the series was ok, it does have some pretty great action and all but at the same time it got me missing this og series. I mean sure the old one was not to great and it had a more laid back and less action type of style compared to the new one but yea i think i perfer the old, I just think it hit more closer to home when it comes to the games where as the new one seems like it is doing it's own thing. I think the new one also takes stuff from the manga? and some stuff of part 5? idk i'm not to familiar seeing as never read or played 5 yet also seems to be using young dante from dmc 3. I was more of a dmc/dmc2 dante guy than 3 so yea guess thats another reason for me to perfer the og series. I think also the music on the new one could have been more focused on just the score and have some more electronic music instead of music from well known bands. I really don't wanna have limp bizkit as the opening to my devil may cry :-/ |

| It's a poorly written Wattpad fanfic. You may or may not like police procedural plots, or you may or may not find the slow paced plots of the 2007 series boring, but at least it contributes to the lore and gives Dante some development for DMC4. The Netflix series is a paralysis of Adi Shankar's dream. It's literally "Adi Shankar's DMC." |
