Yeah, yeah, Crunchyroll makes retarded business decisions, what a surprise! You shouldn't blame the anime because of that, though: The artstyle is amazing, the colors, the mix of 2D and 3D, the premise, etc Do you REALLY think it deserves just a 5.7? REALLY?

@A-Mux The most unoriginal anime of the year? How many death game anime did we have this year? How many anime dealing with lovecraftian mythos? How many involving Vtubers? No, serious, show me your vault of ultra-original anime here.

How anybody can be so dismissive of ‘Fall Guys the Anime’ with tentacle monsters and some great characters is beyond me. I think they just watch a Gigguk review and rate from that. I don’t think they’ve even seen it themselves. But hey, who gives an actual shot about mal ratings anyway? Just enjoy it and chill in the knowledge you’re in a discerning minority.

You kidding me? The 3D style is simple and nothing extra. I'd expect something better IF they absolutely need to use CGI that is... Moreover the starting scene with store job was useleess so far. Why was it there? There are tons of other ways to introduce the girl as a Vtuber. The anime is a basicaly a bad mix of Mayonaka Punch (unsuccesfull Vtuber), Squid Game and the main girl gives Ryuuko vibes. There is nothing much original except her pun name. Then there some devil senate appears and the 7 alive players are begged to save the oprld from them. This all is pretty niché and incosistent.

Considering the huge amount of shitty farleft translators who deserve to lose their jobs, this deserves a 10 solely for using machine subs. The amount of Japanese original audio that I can't get in my region legitimately because it has no 'licensed' subtitles makes this even more important. This is not AI btw, just bad machine translation. AI does a way better job at translating with context, it just need a bit of quality control.

@Adizcool Machine translations like DeepL are NMTs, which is not exactly 'AI' as they're not from a large generalist model like the multiple LLMs, those have quite good translations, they just take a lot of processing power and time. DeepL and Whisper still can get quite decent translations when using their large models, so I doubt those were used here. And again, even those get decent with a little bit of quality control, way better than some crazy translator who completely changes meanings and makes some series unwatchable.

i see the director got a smurf acc. sorry to burst your bubble, but the animation is sub par and that is me being generous. they prolly spend 90% of the money on the backdrops and had nothing left for the characters. the story is meh at best. the characters are so far okay. this getting a 5.x is already being nice to it.

Not sure why people expect every anime to have demon slayer levels of animation. A good majority of seasonal shows tend to have very poor animation in the first place unless its from a popular Manga. The show does seem more interesting then most seasonal anime though. Id like to keep watching it. Is there any update on if crunchyroll will change the subtitles?

@Concealed9X9 Only this season I counted 5 animes that by the pv and original material tell me to be more of a generic and repetitive work, only 2 stand out but barely, do you really prefer works of this type that you find released year after year instead of anime that are different from the common? The anime market is currently saturated with fantasy/isekai works being released because that is what the majority of the public wants and someone who has watched anime for many years like me is looking for different things, there are thousands of mangas and novels with great stories and that do not need to be generic to attract the public but that until today have not received an adaptation and instead we have this amount of standardized bad works that receive low grades, these animes below (from this season) are the ones that I consider the best option for those who think like me. Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu, Gachiakuta, New Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, Onmyou Kaiten Re:Birth, Karaoke Iko!, Ginga Tokkyuu Milky☆Subway, Osomatsu-san, Yofukashi no Uta among others...

@-Gio- 1. Cygames are in the anime business for a while princess reconnect and uma musume season 2 and ongoing is from them. 2. With the sheer amount crunchyroll license and with how fast they upload i am dumbfounded that people think cr sub everything. 3. How i know this same way as you by accessing the people with knowledge and someone (you have to find him on your own) have access to data for crunchyroll and can know if a show is subbed by who and if its hard subbed or soft subbed. 4. He datamined the episode and cygames was the title for the master data for sub.

From the screenshots being passed around, it looks like the team used ChatGPT or something similar for their translations and every sane person can agree that those subs are completely incomprehensible. Also, you say that AI is better than "farleft" translators who ruin anime, but not only have I never seen a single anime losing audience because of what you claim to be a huge number of such translators, the bigger irony is that if this anime had used normal translators for subs, more people could have given it a chance. | @Adizcool You can call any dumb linear regressive calculation an AI, it's not. LLM's are the closest we have to human intelligence, the others are bad on multiple things. If you ever tried to translate using LLM's you would know very well that this is not it, and as I said, it's even worse than DeepL. Just watched an anime with MTls and a decent amount of quality control by a single person fansubbing, there's no comparison, this was just lazy. Now, a bad faith translator messing things up on purpose? That's way worse. You don't see people abandoning it yet because there's no legal and easy alternative, we just have a dumb and bad monopoly for no reason today, but everything has a limit. |

Every time someone complains about generalised isekai or fantasy, somewhere in the world Frieren and Dungeon Meshi become sad. @RobertBobert To be fair neither Frieren nor Dungeon Meshi are actually Isekai; they're fantasy outings deeply inspired by D&D (Directly or just by being post-Gygax), which is a trait shared with most Isekais, but they don't use the big trope and, for that matter, neither of them use the "Game stats are real conceit" that underscores a lot of the more reprocessed fantasies (Isekai or not). Every culture and era has had its junk food media; the category that was there and then milked harder than an entire dairy farm, usually turning out cheap crap into which little effort or care was put because people would eat it up. Right now in Anime, that does seem to be the "Isekai and/or Fantasy" cohort. And like every other genre or subgenre that's been the money printer, there are doubtless some examples that are truly excellent, it's just that we get enough bad ones that Sturgeon's Law starts to look generous for the category. |

@TevishSzat Please pay attention to what you are quoting. The comment I was replying to contained "isekai OR FANTASY" and my reply contained "isekai OR FANTASY". Hell, even your quote represents it. The problem isn't that isekai is an undiscovered gem. The problem is that isekai has simply become a convenient target for those who don't understand it at all. We have plenty of generic shows in other genres, but isekai gets all the flak for being the one that least suits the tastes of "modern audiences."

Decided to give this show a shot after taking a peek through this post. I didn't get to see what the first episode was like with those awful English subtitles that CR released the episode with, but wow they were pretty bad lol Even if I had watched the episode with those subtitles though, I wouldn't have taken it out on the show itself. I imagine the subtitles were horribly done by CR, or someone else who didn't care, and I don't think that's really the show's fault. Now, putting the subtitles aside, I did not like the first episode. I'm not a fan of the plot that was laid out, I don't like the characters (my god the e-sports guy made me cringe), and I'm not too fond of how the show looks either, whether it's in regular animation or the 3D animation. The 3D animation is honestly not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I did take a peek through this post before watching so I saw that people were complaining about 3D animation (I thought to myself "come on it can't be that bad lol), and yeah it's an interesting choice for sure, but it's definitely not the worse 3D animation I've seen in anime, but I'm still not a fan of it. Actually something funny, the moment I saw it my brain immediately went to like late 2000s or early 2010s Cartoon Network/Nickelodeon. It immediately made me think of those 3D animated shows that were on there around that time. I did look up what those shows looked like while writing this and yeah it's not really that similar at all, but I think it's funny that my brain immediately went to those shows when I saw the animation. This show is like a 5 for me. I'm seriously not interested in seeing where this goes. I'm not interested in the plot or the characters at all, and the thing is I wouldn't have watched this if it weren't for this post. So uh... Good job to whoever made this post. You introduced it to someone who wasn't really interested but at least wanted to give it a shot, and you ended up bringing the score you were trying to save just a little lower because of it.

i don't even care about the subs but the show is still terrible, the story feels like it was written by 60 year old execs based entirely on what they assume "young people" are into and the 3D stuff is incredibly jarring if you like it, that's fine, everyone has different tastes and there are definitely some objectively bad anime that I've considered good, but based on my own experience watching it so far, a 5.7 is higher than I could even imagine giving it unless the remaining episodes are significantly better

@lawlies1234 There's no need summer child, I take pride in being morally correct. Do whatever you want with your life, it will not influence the changes for the better that happens every day in this world, nor the reality that big authoritarian governments are exactly the same whatever their political spectrum may be. And yet again, you're using a word incorrectly, learn what "white whale" means, or are you not a native English speaker as well?
@burakkuakuseru I can smell the sweat and grease on every single one of your comments.
