It's sad, I cried. Right now, I just want this series to end soon.
Yang certainly is one of the best anime characters ever!

Farewell, Miracle Yang!

The shittiest qq moment I've experienced in anime for a long time. I say shittiest cuz i feel like shit right now :( I've got to take a break after this season, I really have too...*sobs* ...I saw this coming though, there were signs of it from the very beginning ( the last scene of the first ED for instance). Its a good thing this wasnt a complete surprise. THat would have been the worst WTF anime moment of all time

Give us a name. That's all we need. Just give us a name and we will take care of him. People like him dont deserve freedom.

I concur. I already know about 2 major deaths that are going to happen...thanks to some stupid guy who edited wikipedia and some guy name nephlyte on youtube posting spoilers on his video summaries. People like these dont deserve to live I say..:(

Unfortunately, I got spoiled by one person here, so I write here with my eyes half-moist and my heart half-heavy. It looked like Yang was going to be saved by the Rozenritter when his ship got attacked. But no. Everyone involved would be on a large ship, and Yang would be a floor away from Julian. :(

Just how are you going to continue on for another 28 episodes!? What more do you say once you've lost that which binds the galaxy?

If you're talking about me, its not my fault. I was merely speculating :P I mean...everybody shouldve guessed it was going to happen sooner or later with all the foreshadowing and stuff

and why would that make anyone feel better? Its because of that we have to listen to someone else's voice in the prequel series :S

For the sake of Reinhard ruling the galaxy sooner.

You know...i'd be realy happy if he was defeated and died heroic death or submited to Reinhard.
It's just the way he died was too pathetic for a great tactician like him...

Or i'm not allowed to have personal opinion?

omfg. I have tears in my eyes. I knew this was going to happen, but so soon?

...Fuck. Fiction or not, it's not fair. Yang doesn't deserve to be dead. And to die all alone. Sure he killed a lot of people in war, but he was a good guy.

I refuse to rate this episode because it is very well done, but I still won't. There's nothing to love about this episode.

Fucking shit. I don't know how I can handle not seeing anymore of him for the next twenty-eight episodes.

This blows.

I don't understand this viewpoint, it's kind of mindboggling. To lose faith in a story or just stop watching once a character dies makes no sense. You're watching a story play out, not an electrocardiogram.

Aargh! I figured out that Julian would outlast Yang a while ago by a careful consideration of the season 3 ED, but I didn't think Yang would go like this! It's so... pathetic. I'd like to say more, but the frustration and grief welling inside me choke in my throat and I can't fashion any appropriate words of mourning.

I have no idea where the last season is going to take this.

With Yang's death a large portion of the plot has essentially just been dropped (Yang vs Reinhard ends with one gun shot from some random fuck =/ )...The focus is more than likely going to shift to the stupid Phezzan/Terraism 3rd party garbage that I personally don't care for...this kinda killed my motivation slightly too, however not as much as that guy's. Plus all the crap I'm hearing about Juilian is keeping me interested and I'm looking forward to the inevitable Mittermeyer/Ruental showdown.

As for the episode...I liked Yang, but never really got attached to him. I was and still am much more of a Reinhard fan, that said I'm not sure how I really feel about this death, it was tragic, yet I really did not like how the Yang/Reinhard feud ending up...ending. And I found that episode 83 was much harder to watch than this one...that was just brutal

Yang!!What a crappy and anti-climatic send off he got. Knowing that the end of the season is only a few episodes away, I had a feeling he'd be dead soon with their situation being basically bleak and only a few such as Julian surviving to try and take up arms against Reinhard but this was just, not proper at all. Granted it follows the already great and well established theme of history and it's unpredictability and how times always goes on but it just doesn't seem right at all. Goodbye third favorite character of mine. You deserved better than that

I can't imagine his character dying any other way. Can you see him picking up a gun and going out in a blaze of fire? Nope, didn't think so. Yang hated war and violence, he's like a witless librarian caught in a battlefield.

Either way, I have yet to see an anime that has the balls to kill off a main character like LotGH did.

Well yes that'd be an inappropriate way to send him off but at least a fight with Reinhard would seem more fitting. I know why he was killed that way, and I can respect the author for doing it but it just doesn't feel right. It's such a pathetic death it robbed me a bit of my sadness that didn't kick in till Julian had seen him

I think its supposed to be that way. For me, the shock factor and the hope that he'd be still breathing when julian reached him delayed the qq moment until Julian actually reached him. It wouldn't have made sense for him to die fighting Reinhard because that's not his style and it doesn't suit his character. Besides, that would mean Reinhard would get the satisfaction of beating him that way, among other things. I think It wouldn't have suited the theme nor the essence of the story. The story is about more than these two people.
As for the death itself, it was quite shitty the way he went, but a lot of great people in history went down in worse ways. Some even had their bodies mutilated and their body parts shown off to the public.

Again, the whole not suiting his character, style, Reinhard not getting is own satisfaction, following the unpredictable path of history and time, I understand this completely, fully and love the concept ( I am a history concentrate with my education studies after all) but again the overall normalness just takes it down a notch. It becomes a "Oh....well that sucks" feeling instead of the tears balling in my eyes as I watch someone like Spike Spiegel go. It could have easily been like that, but it wasn't to be.

Again, I realize what LotGH is doing and why it's done, it just leaves a bitter taste in your mouth that was meant to occur. Just saying it's not what I wanted or envisioned.

And just that was one of the things that made me love it so. It takes balls to pull off something like that and kill off a popular character in such way, showing the fans the finger in a way.
It also shows that this is Yoshiki Tanaka's story and that he doesn't pander to the fanbase, which is always a plus for me.

A more "epic" and emotional ending might have been more desirable in many ways, but somehow, I think that would take away some of LoGH's main themes and also make it more generic.
So I guess I'm glad it ended like this after all.

Agreed, I'm just saying the other part because it robbed me a tad on the emotional side though it's well done. Found it funny how the guy who shot him doesn't even bother to make sure he hit a killing blow as hitting the artery is tad harder than the shot he landed yet he skips out of there all happy about his shot that he didn't even bother to look if it killed him

oh my god :(
Yang was definitely one of my alltime favorite characters in anime and now he had to go in such an unworthy way...
The whole episode I saw Yangs Death lurking behind each corner and when I finally thought I'd at least see him one or two more episodes some random soldier kills him.
I can't say I'm not upset, but, as said, this is something I love in LOGH and generally in anime, if the series doesn't compromise for the sake of pleasing the viewers.
I'll just have to quickly watch the next episode to get over this...
I probably regret this post by now.

I agree with the first post; that was really shitty way to die... for such a great character, it kinda leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I think the old man (Bucock) died a better warrior's death but as someone pointed out earlier in this thread it was probably cliche for Yang to die the same way. It made me sad but not as much when Kircheis died.
You see there's no need to wonder where your god is,
Coz he's right here! ...and he's fresh out of mercy.
