@Koolyaroo honestly their fight was as average I can expect from TMS and I doubt the next ep will be better with the Animation if the 2nd half is anything to go by
@SoulReaper85 TMS just has this one guy on Sakamoto days, Tetsuya Ishikawa, thats responsible for basically every action scene in the series that actually moves. Its so weird cuz this dude is on EVERY EP when they could've had a couple more people so it wouldve been spread out but no, they just rely on this one dude to save every ep :/

And Lo and behold, he was the dude making those Shin v Toramaru cuts... leaving the 2nd half to look lame in comparison (I like this show but it is overall such a sad production man)

This episode’s visuals were focused solely on the battle, but there was some inconsistency in the background—especially the natural scenery of the battlefield.

That’s it. If I were to comment on the logic, the method of recruiting the assassins was far too unrealistic.

@TheColonel76 Gaku really strikes me as neurodivergent coded in some way, though his background could also just make him bordering on something more unfeeling and detached. He either forgot or didn't realize that all his motions are imitated by the other guy, so him eating bread is going to just be weird to everyone else on the island versus Kashima or Slur in person.

The lag part is a handicap, plus I feel like the idea is that if you can't even handle Gaku's attacks through a medium like this, you're not at the level Slur wants to recruit, Toramaru isn't dead, thankfully, so she might be considered on that basis versus, say, others involved in this fight.

Using Gaku as the measuring stick seems unfair, he's practically the Dragon of the group, a vice leader in the vein of Zoro from One Piece to Luffy. But they really don't have any of the other members that stick around later, Slur's group is such that the author really kind of played them pure chaos, only really following the thread of Slur's revolution at best, no real loyalty otherwise.
@holdingnothing I’d say you’re on point for the most part, Gaku is an interesting character to analyze and adding on this VR element makes things even more wild. And yeah Slur’s group is very small from what we’ve seen so I guess Gaku is the one they have to lean on for stuff like this.

@ultramb Shinaya is wearing something like an exosuit
They also made sure to find someone that was flexible and pretty physically fit for the vr stuff
@Trackmaster89 hmm if that's the case, it makes sense.

@ultramb I did see someone theorize that Gaku is pushing Shinaya's body to its limits and he might suffer muscle tears and bones breaking.
@KingBaller06 bet that would happen. if he isn't wearing some sort of an exoskeleton.

@TheColonel76 Hearing Gaku is making me think of Gaku Yoneda from Platinum End, been on a kick recently of what is 95% neurodivergent coded characters, the idea of confirmed representation is so small, mostly reserved to obscure manga, including one I think is unfinished since the author passed away from mesothelioma at 52. With the Light and My Atypical Girl are two that explicitly bring it up, still super stigmatized to really bring up mental health in explicit ways

I don't know how I feel about about the exam proctors being killed left and right... Also is the puppet guy being piloted even human with that kind of strength, though it wouldn't be surprising if he's some kind of cyborg like Kashima. In this story it feels like some random characters will survive nukes while others supposedly professionals gets one-shot.

On the other hand, Sakamoto struggling to free himself from a mere steel web until the last moment felt like such acting including even his mono dialogue. The fights are still cool but the strength and outcomes of these characters often feel very inconsistent.

Owh... So that goggle guy is Slur team puppet... No wonder his eyes is kinda weird... Is he really a normal human?

That silent guy in Shin team, he seems a good guy, he is just a shy silent guy~ Wonder what his ability is, considering he is one of the special recruit.
Toramaru joining Shin~ Toromaru and Mafuyu VS Gaku~ This arc is full of great character and great battle!

Gaku is just too OP with the body control lol. Sakamoto fangirl turns out to be better than she first looked but she's way too crazy about him. Also lol the camping slice of life part the end XD

for a few minutes i was honestly thinking Toramaru was dead, weird backstory but i will still take it with no concerns compared to another much worse one seen in season 2. Plus, i laughed in self-deprecating style when Akira's aunt laughed at people "afraid to enter highways" and also when she couldn't shoot Sakamoto and the other guy after perfectly hitting that target. The remote control killer wasn't a bad concept i guess.

Fuck YEAHHH!!! AHHH... so good. It was so fun. All the fights were so fun, and then Gaku was controlling remotely and fighting like that. Killing left and right. It's so cool. And, now he's after us. Shin has grown a lot, and the fan girl is cute as well. Loving this exam. Although, I always feel bad for people in this show, cuz they die so easily even when they're so strong.

i’m starting to like Kaji, his friendly but convicted shyness archetype is my favorite. His internal monologue was sad to hear lol Shin in the spotlight again this episode and it’s good to see that he follow through with what Sakamoto would’ve wanted and spared the girl he fought. Sakamoto fan club now at 2 members??

I have to give props to Shin for being not only resilent but slowly catching up to Sakamoto. His fighting has improved and it shows with the way he was able to take out that girl. It was also a bit giggling seeing that Kaji is just too shy to talk.

Time for another battle, this time with a robot who was clearly giving his identity too much away.
@rasterman7 I also like how Shin always remembers Sakamoto in order to keep calm and stay strong

The way Toramaru is thinking about Sakamoto is exactly what Shin was thinking about him on the first few episodes. He really has understand Sakamoto more than before.
So, one of the recommended students is Slur's ally? And looks like they're looking for new members..
