| Airing the family's dirty laundry... |
| I didn’t like the cold opening, and I got confused by the characters' design since every one has the pretty much the same hair and/or clothing. But at least we got the plot development we needed. I feel like this series pacing is really slow for a 13 episodes season. It should have 20+ like the apothecaries diaries |

| Strange show. This episode was literally people talking about a murder and people talking about the family history, but I was somewhat invested. I'm still not sure where this is going. I assume they'll solve the mystery by Episode 13, and... maybe have Ichitarou run the shop? The slow pace and the tangents make it feel like there's more to it than that, though. I'll still come back every week and sit down for storytime... |
| Ichitaro literally on his own escape journey that Eikichi at least has an inkling on where he could have gone to see his young brother Matsunosuke in the north, pair that with a murder case on the loose, and the young master's life is more in danger that has everyone scrambling to find his whereabouts. Between Ichitaro and the murdered apothecary who's the master of one of the businesses that Nagasaki-ya also handles shipping matters with. The thing is, like Chogoro's case where murderers are whining on medicine from doctors and killing them when their demands are not met, this time it's Isecho's Jisuke, with the two cases being eerily similar to each other that involves a mummy where its elixir can "restore the dead to life". The family interrogation on Ichitaro about Matsunosuke, his father is adamant that his son carries on the business, as much as the estranged brother is not affiliated with Nagasaki-ya anymore that any form of contact must be severed. The alternative, by asking the tsukumogami like Byobu Nozoki of his family's rich history that involved his parents and their birth child that didn't work out, that his father Tobei had to adopt Matsunosuke from another family of his just to work the business out, which his mother Otae wasn't happy with, until Ichitaro's birth that finally put the wrecked past behind them and leave the mistress's kid out of the picture. Could it be that the man who found the jewel bead on the side, be Matsunosuke? My gut hint says yes... |
