| Well chalk it up to cultural differences or the fact that it's over 40 years old, but I thought Shunsuke's uncle was a total asshole in this one. I got the impression his antics were largely meant to be endearing, insane ending aside, but they never were. It sorta explains Shunsuke's issues with women though. It's a miracle he didn't turn out even worse knowing he had him as a male role model/influence. To say nothing of a mother who wouldn't try to stop her son going out to sea against his will for 6 months, but I'm looking at that rushed, absurd ending with more scrutiny than it was likely written having. I did find it sweet that Danchou showed up to chase after the boat with Eru. Plus Niita's waving goodbye lol. Speaking of Eru, she looked pretty good in the tomboy cosplay too. Lastly, I wasn't expecting a full frontal Shunsuke but we got it here...yeah. What a weird episode. Next time: The invader of the ouendan! |
