Gachiakuta Episode 21 Discussion

THE SCENE WITH THE SUPER NAIL GUN GAVE ME CHILLS HOLY SHIT! I knew this episode was gonna be peak when I heard that some top tier animators were working on it (Vincent, Nakamura, etc) but DAMN this caught me off guard! probably my favorite episode of the series so far ✋😭🤚

I know that the Raiders are bad & they did bad things to innocent people, but can somebody please just explain to me why the Cleaners oppose going to the Sphere through the trash monster?
Is it the possibility that they can die crossing the borders or is it something else?

This is why i hate shounen writing in the end and can't give it a better score even when i want to - no one fucking ever dies, or even at least stays down, worse than that, they get POWERED UP by it. Like, what the fuck do you mean 'the long hair sparkblonde that was shot and half dead is now gonna be the boss'?? She had a cool fight, just let her fucking pass out while she gets care if you don't want to kill her, and move on with the story ffs! The animation and production quality is great but the story and shounen elements so far kinda crapped on it

Did you watch what they did to Amo? Do you realise what they want to do once they reach the sphere?

@Yasminaa Thank you for not answering my question, since the two actions that defined the raiders as evil are worthless. First, arresting someone isn't inherently bad; they're simply arresting them, nothing more. Second, yes, they will probably kill the people above, but the author himself made it clear that this is a theme of oppressed vs. oppressor, meaning (in the author's logic) that this is justified. Therefore, none of this makes them evil, and of course, everything I said comes from the author's perspective and not my personal opinion.

I never intended to answer your question, but since you're begging, I'll say that you already know the answer to your question: they don't want to risk dying crossing the sky, but that seems like a very poor justification since they would inevitably have to cross the sky anyway. The author will probably give some unsatisfactory justification for this contradiction in future episodes.

I'm glad the show returned to it's original pure shit format for this episode. It's been stringing me along for 21 episodes with a fairly intriguing mystery plot, but it's just too much.
It's THE worst type of anime for that very reason. It just uses 5% of its story to move the plot forward, 65% meaningless exposition, and 30% garbage fights.

The worst part is that it's all a waste of time. There's no sense having fights, or explaining them, or having a flashback to establish some kind of back story because it's pointless.

How can I be invested in a character when there's never any REAL consequence to the fights? No one ever dies, or even when fatally injured, they magically insta-recover. There's only so much entertainment in laboriously explaining someone's power system and why they have it whether that's thru tedious exposition or flashback.

This is THE worst kind of writing. I would really like to finish this, but it's stupid. It's a gacha game of an anime. Just hang in there a little while longer.... more will be revealed. 21 episodes in and we know almost nothing more than we did from episode 3. Know nothing about the sphere or it's origins or about the world and why it operates the way it does. Nothing... nothing has progressed.

Such a waste as well, because the artwork is fairly unique, character designs are cool, and animation is decent. But you need a good story, while this one MIGHT be good, we're never gonna find out at this pace.

This strategy of milking out these episodes is just to make money. Do we really need 3 weeks for a single side character battle? If it was something groundbreaking, or super critical to the plot... maybe, but nowadays, it's by default. Everything is drawn out needlessly to pad the run times. Like I said, we know almost nothing more than we did after episode 3. Not really. So i'm done.

It's impressive that even with spectacular animation, this anime still manages to be mediocre.
If we compare Gachiakuta with Toujima Kamen Rider, both being shonen anime, but one modern and the other old, Kamen Rider wins easily despite having inferior animation. This says a lot about Gachiakuta's narrative structure. Perhaps if the author had copied not only the art style but also the narrative complexity of her mentor, this anime would be good.
