Nice Episode. So Kurata joined the student council. That's a little bit different from the '06 Version.

One thing I do have to commend on this Kanon (still haven't watched 2006) is its rather efficient way of developing the girls and Yuuichi himself. Unlike most other anime which would develop the girls by separate story arcs, this series amalgamates all of them together, developing them almost simultaneously, although unnaturally would be a word used for this 2002 Kanon. Nevertheless, it still lives up to its name as adapted from one of the greatest VNs of all time and is comparable to its game counterpart, despite having aged significantly over the years.
The pacing is more or less great, although I would have qualms for the last few episodes, seeing that this only has 13 episodes and Mai so far is the only one with considerable development. This episode consists of the dance party and focusing mostly on Mai, and the ending cliffhanger. We shall see what happened to Sayuri.

better here, because they showed red blood, instead of the censored "black" blood of the 2006.

At this point in the story, the remake outclasses this classic in nearly everything, such as the dance, fight scene, and Mai's breakdown. I still like the pacing in the classic. There were too many SoL scenes in the remake, especially in the beginning. It felt like the story stalled.

Those monsters are a pain in the arse. For a moment, they had me thinking that Sayuri was killed, which was cleared to be just injured in the preview.

It was a moment for Mai but ruined, which almost got her expelled.

Anyway, I'm rooting for Mai at the moment.

I guess falling on their faces so much is why they developed such large chins and untreated mental issues. Is this another government experiment like Higurashi?

Yuuichi's dance with Mai was so adorably wholesome. It's a shame that things took the tragic turn that they did when the monsters attacked the dance. I so want the school to get egg on their face when monsters attack and they can't blame Mai for it anymore, but with Sayuri agreeing to join the Student Council to prevent Mai's expulsion, they still won't know.

I wasn't expecting this cliffhanger! Hang in there Sayuri! There needs to be a solution to all these monster attacks soon!
