Seems every episode brings in a new type of danger. No surprise here.

Yuuki's courage is shown this episode, although idk if she herself even realizes it. The chereography of this anime is kinda interesting, often highlighting the eyes and the cast's emotions. The environment still has a darker look to give that eerie vibe of uncertainity.

“Apologize for your impudent behavior” Oh my God, Yuki’s petty and sadistic side really came out there at the end?? She’s just like me 😭what an episode. Mishiro and the girls all could’ve gone home safely with no issues if they’d just trusted the girl with the most experience like I said last week. Look how easy it was for Kotoha!

Few things to go over this week. First of all, that slow crawl opening scene was amazing. It really seems like candle woods made Yuki completely change how she approaches these games and people, I do think she genuinely cares for Kotoha and barring some twist next week, I’m hoping the two of them get out together alive. Kotoha playing death games to avoid having to go out in society and deal with people is so fucking real too, she deserves to be rich and happy just off that alone.

Also notice the contrast in how Mishiro leads her group, not even talking to them really or valuing their input, vs how Yuki stops to have conversation with Kotoha and learn her motivations. The show’s use of silence, I.e, no ost during the conversations and scenes like the wolf confrontation is so cool. It makes everything feel much more unsettling and tense.

Almost felt a little bad for Mishiro until we saw the backstory of her killing her own sister out of jealousy. The wolf should’ve taken more than an arm. She wanted to be on top so bad, willing to do anything for it, girl had a ton of mental issues. Part of me feels like the other girls who chose to follow her are dead too and Yuki is trolling.. we’ll see next week. Great episode

ABSOLUTE CINEMA

Yuuki is getting her revenge here, simply saying Mishino is still a rookie in this game. And nope, Mishino is not going to back down either judging from the scene showcasing her brief backstory. The rivalry between them both is getting interesting and more tense as the story progresses. Will they settle things down with words or with fists? don't know. The story is unpredictable and I can't wait for the next ep.

The artwork team really put into effort into creating a horror atmosphere at the wolf floor. The wolf's eyes scared me bro.

Also, I want a piggyback ride from Yuuki.

So, while the games are presented in random order to us, in the LN, Candle Wood (game 9) came before this one (game 10). But I think showing 9 *after* 10 will work better for how the anime adaptation.

Go and get those brownie points Yuki! If Shiori aka Kotoha is still alive, all the better that she gets rescued.

On another topic, I do feel bad for Mishiro. Extreme situations can bring out the worst in folks, and going into the game it doesn't seem like she had the most helpful upbringing...

If that was really Yuki and not a distress induced hallucination, I hope she can swallow her pride and apologize.

The tension building is out of this world wtf how the fuck does he do it so fucking well???????????????? Where the fuck was this director before My step sister whatever the fuck (also a good show btw) before???????????

Also I don't mind if it takes 3 - 4 episodes to do present this well a death game scenario, because it's done so masterfully, what a schizo way to present actual real and deranged characters on screen, like this is what EVIL shit feels like, actual malice flowing down your fucking cotton filled body. Also, I am 80% sure those other 3 bitches are dead looooooooool.

The tension between yuki and mishiro is high, and i love it. mishiro is not "on the wrong", she simply has a different perspective from Yuuki. the pretty visuals are very addictive. The portuguese dub (yeah, i am brazillian) is top notch, and the anime is simudub!

Mishiro definitely went through tough times, and that probably explains a lot about her harshness at times.

I can't rate the EPs individually before the end of the game, since each one of them is a construction to the climax of the arc/game, so i gotta wait for the game to end so i can actually rate them.

I am loving it!

So Kotoha was alive and Yuki went back for her, hopefully she doesnt die.

Strange episode with Mishiro mental breakdown, the wolf, Yuki wanting to beat 99 games, and the gloating over Mishiro by Yuki.

So Mishiro just really wants to be on top and if there's anyone else better than her she'll just push them down so she's on top. Well too bad Yuki's on top so you either try to push her down too? and then probably die? or you apologize to live?

Also wonder if we'll see them fighting the wolf next episode? They do have knives.

Kotoha got saved. The other two followers found the stairs as well. All that's left is Yuki who came back and Mishiro with 1 arm. I wonder how many likability points Yuki will gain from this game?

We also got mention of the 9th game? Candle Woods which I'm guessing was on another level compared to the two games we've seen so far.

I know it's a whole new round but I can't help but feel uneasy from the sight of Yuki giving an abandoned player a piggyback ride.

The venue for death games sure is one unfortunate place to form an enemy in. Gotta imagine how much Yuki savored letting all that out though.

"If you're willing to apologize, then it's water under the bridge" Oh how the tables have. Mishiro's has to follow her pride now. And we had a dive into her psyche, that she's basically conditioned to be always at the top. Thought she had a big ego issue, but this is much worse than expected.

I'm pretty worried about the other girls, the next episode may have some wild twist.

What pleasantly surprises me the most is that this series isn't relying on cute girls to carry the plot, it's actually decent and elevated by the strong atmosphere.

This was a great episode they keep getting better and better introducing new things and making me curious on stuff and question what not more. For example I was wondering how imaginative this anime would get with the traps down to wondering if they'd include animals into the traps and they threw a wolf in this episode. Im really curious on how inventive they'll make each game and trap.

Im surprised the candle woods game was mentioned this episode, I havent read the light novel but I've heard it mentioned from somewhere else. I think it was someone I was talking with about the show. But my point is its interesting they mentioned a prior game down to the actual name, I feel like they may be setting up to show that game in the future. If its as bad as they said in the episode I have a feeling im gonna love it. The name alone makes it sound far more interesting then the scrap building game.

The look into Mishiro's past was interesting, She killed her sister? like dude why would you possibly do that unless idk it was illuding to something else maybe. Curious that Yuuki went back for her though I guess Yuuki has some form of a competitive streak to her as well. I wonder if Mishiro will drop her pride and admit defeat.

I will say im surprised there was only one wolf since they hunt in packs typically but I mean obviously its been taken from its actual habitat. Or idk perhaps next episode Mishiro will be stubborn Yuuki will leave her and then the pack will pull up. Honestly that would be quite funny, she lowkey deserves it at this point.

Overall my three expectations right now are how will they keep innovating each game, what kind of characters will show up and will we get to see the candle woods game. This show does genuinely phenomenal job at building tension cause dam my hearts racing each time something remotely tense happens I genuinely feel like im in their with them.

Im absolutely buying the light novel and reading it fully once the anime ends cause man I havent been this entranced by a show this deeply in years.

Also I gotta say it again but the opening slaps so hard

WAYYYYYY too dark. I had to turn up my monitor's brightness to about twice the level I normally use. Some darkness is okay, but when I literally can't distinguish a single thing on screen at normal brightness, you've gone way too far

Fun fact Yukki calls it brownie points in the ln...

@Ahohite-killer In the Manga Kinko loses an arm and a leg,,, it was turned to both legs to fit with kotoha... The changes are perfection,,, Only the princess had the self reflection with the child thingy, giving it to kotoha and Kinko excites me how will they adapt the remainder of the ln,,, hope this gets a complete adaption,,,

Great ep

Green has a interesting idea of living, but obviously very dangerous.

When Yuki says her goal is to be 99 games, we see lights above her. I think she was a test subject or was on a hospital bed being inspected idk.

LMAO, karma a bitch. U really hit in the exact same way, but luckily lost less than Green.

Love how fearless and calculating that Yuki is.

Happy her friends left her.

Good lord, Blonde evil asl. She actually killed her sister. Looks like she has a superior complex.

Lol, this goofy actually thought she would kill herself in peace, nah Yuki still needs her revenge.

Yuki is on demon timing. Good luck to Blonde. I seriously question what Yuki is gonna do to her, if she fails to apologize.

9.5/10

Ohh, so Yuki came to save the green haired girl. Let's just hope she doesn't die later on, like what happened with Kinko.

Mishiro ends up falling to the same mistake the green haired girl commited, that is tripping over the cord that was attached to all the girls. The 2 other girls obviously abandoned her, and now are all friendly towards Yuki, knowing she's the one that knows more about that game.

Once again, this episode was so full of suspense, they use the silence really well, you're always on edge with it, since you can't really predict in what direction they are taking the anime into. Amazing direction, as expected, considering the last 2 episodes.

I honestly wasn't expecting Yuki to come back to Mishiro, to make her beg for forgiveness, in order to be saved. Based on the loose backstory that was told, it seems Mishiro ended up killing her own sister, due to feeling inferior to her, hence why she wants to be the superior one in this kind of games, and maybe the reason she actually plays them. Honestly, she's pure evil, killing her own sister, that actually loved her, and she used that love to torture her for years, and then kill her...
I'm not sure how she wasn't in jail after that, but I mean, by what the green haired girl said this episode, it seems their world is getting a bit out of hand.

Anyways, I'm really curious to see if Mishiro will actually comply to Yuki's request, and if so, if Yuki will actually help her, or that was just to humiliate her, and abandon her there to die.

Edit: Forgot to say it, but the episode felt super short, I thought I was midway through the episode, and I actually already finishing it. I'm glad I continued watching the anime after that 1st episode, that was quite more disturbing, because these last 2 I'm ending up enjoying quite a lot more.
Also, here's one of the interesting screeshots this episode had to offer!

Gotta love how cool but slightly insane Yuuki with her dominating aura, don't blame that wolf at all.

Really held that grudge with that ending, so much for trying to be the kindest you can to get people on your side.

I think I know who are each other on previous panel's images (see https://myanimelist.net/forum/?goto=post&topicid=2249142&id=73749697 ), and the show really foreshadows the characters.

Also, Yuki could've simply saved Mishiro, but she decided to humiliate her for one more time just to prove her point. (She did. Maybe with plot armor, but who knows in this death game?)

The sudden personality change at the end is throwing me off.

It feels very different from the person that wanted to save others in the previous game. Also, it matches too much with the backstory right before. I would have guessed it was a hallucination if others hadn’t already confirmed it was actually her character.
