Someone send help because I’m gonna be sobbing all night I’m going to miss my girls sm 😭😭 No the season wasn’t perfect, has some ups and downs, but it’s always about the cast and their interactions to me and I loved this group of cures. In my limited precure viewing experience they’re right after Hirosky.

The entire final fight was amazing. Toei brought their A game and cooked from Uta breaking free of Darkine’s crystals to the girls transformations, to the fight itself.. you can tell this staff LOVE wink too because they always give her the best scenes in every fight lol.

So in the end, Uta fulfilled her promise and gave Darkine a concert, convincing her light and darkness can and must coexist. She was cute, but I still feel like they wasted her as a villain. Waited too long to get going and I just didn’t care about her at all tbh. Shame. Probably the weakest precure villain I’ve seen thus far.

So I guess they were committed to that Kaito x Uta gimmick until the very end lmao. Idk why they couldn’t just put it to bed and insisted on Kaito giving Uta false hope. What do you mean “if I saw you, I’d want to stay” your childhood boyfriend who you spent most of the season looking for is back and you’re still worried about Uta?? Smh.

Timeskip Uta, Nana and Kokoro are so pretty 😍! I just know Uta became an absolute phenomenon with her idol career. That’s a wrap, folks. We got our traditional passing of the torch and are now onto star detective. Again, this wasn’t the best precure but it was fun and I enjoyed watching it every week. Can’t wait to buy merch in Japan next week!

so sad that it has ended...

final fight with Darkiine was so intense. I'm glad everyone had the chance to shine and contribute something.

That was one of the precure season ending of a precure season. Will be my least liked in my neutral zone.

I guess seeing that Darkine wasn't really solidified mission. This is one way to end.

So, basically the final episode ends with that vague claim about how darkness and light can't exist without the other, and I suspect this isn't the first Pretty Cure series to do this. Was this message the whole point of the series? I don't think it's that simple. In any case, Darqueen actually thought she was the embodiment of/a metaphor for all darkness? That sounds like egomania to me. She even tried to give them the "as long as there is evil" speech. Then after her defeat, she still keeps saying that "[she] is the darkness". Clearly something was wrong with her from the start, but I guess that's another story.

After Idol Pretty Cure's final concert, which turns out to have been the second ending all along (and after meeting Cure Answer from the next series), Purirun and Meroron had to go back to "Kirakiraland" (another, more natural to refer to their world in English), but first they decided to stick around for Uta Sakura's debut as a really for real idol!

Overall, I felt this show took shortcuts, especially with the whole Purirun amnesia thing, not to mention Meroron...having trouble (to put it one way) understanding what it's all about. Meroron even claimed that "Idol Pretty Cure" and "Zukyoon-Kiss" were rivals. What concerns me is this: if this had been, say, Kamen Rider instead of Pretty Cure, would Meroron have fought the others? Would she have somehow dragged Purirun into it? Would the show have dragged it out over several episodes, if not, say, half the series? I can't speak for anyone else, but it would have made for more unnecessary melodrama, that a show like this doesn't need. As far as I know, it's an unspoken rule that Pretty Cures don't fight each other, but with the way Meroron was written, I can only imagine what fhe writers would have liked/wanted to do with her; someone who once thought that her "nee-tama" was all that mattered in the universe...

TL;DR, the show turned out alright in the end, but they messed up in some parts, and at least partially for that reason, it could have turned out very, very differently.

Idol is below average of Precure standard. It's also quite unlucky to have to compete with Princession Orchestra which is in the same genre but better.

Luckily I already looking forward to Detective Precure.

I agree with the coment above, its below average for precure, and this ending was rushed, it should have atleast one more episode....
Welp i can only hope the next one to be better, still it was fun.

I'm not going to deny that this season has its fair share of ups and downs. Nonetheless, I think this was one of the better seasons. Giving us a good mix of slife of life, and the idol theme. True, they could have done more with the theme, but I don't think they were trying to go overboard with it. Overall, a good season.

GOOD RIDDANCE! This was a very frustrating season imo. Now to be fair, this is the second Precure season I have now completed, so I don't have much to compare it to (nor do I have 100% confidence in what I'm saying), but good golly this season felt like a slog...but I wish it didn't turn out that way. Despite my conflicting opinions on Japan's idol culture (and by proxy the theme/motif of this season), I think this season truly did start off with a lot of promise. Hell, when I first started watching, I wanted to buy some Kyun-Kyun merch! The season really dipped in quality around Meroron's introduction—filler left and right, questionable voice actor choices (or I suppose "choice" is a better word), writing decisions that were equally (and sometimes more) questionable; the list goes on.

I will say, the final fight was absolutely incredible! The music, too, though I kind of wish we had a different—preferably new—song for the final fight's finisher and not the same one we've been hearing for almost the entirety of the latter quarter of the season. :/

10/10 episode, best Pretty Cure season like EVER (The Kamen Rider Kuuga of the Pretty Cures Heartcatch can naff off, for all intents and purposes). With the only two grievances (the reason why I don't give it a full 10) coming from the Kaito idiot (which lines of dialogue towards the end I totally skipped over by pressing the forward button) and the totally useless Pink Hair/Red Dress Garbage, which is nowhere to be found in this last episode anyway. And I was right in the first review I made of this show on this site, this Pretty Cure season has teabagged the Super Sentai written by THE DAUGHTER OF ONE OF THE BEST AND MOST INFLUENTIAL TOKUSATSU WRITERS OF ALL TIMES (also a writer of this show in some of its episodes) and broadcasted in conjunction with Kimi To Idol because it has always been consistent with its excellent quality, whereas No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger peaked at the start, got unwatchable at the middle, started to get good again at episode 28-29 and then, from episode 44, it wrecked itself again, like the last two crappy/mediocre episodes I've seen will confirm. Also, IMMENSE THANKS to this show for giving me and the men who watched it so many beautiful waifus (amazing Chokkirine included), particularly my main and most important one of the entirety of the IP Uta Sakura/Cure Idol (who is pretty much untouchable, as part of my own emotional family) and the one that made me start watching again these shows (BIG URRAH FOR PIXIV AND THEIR RULE34 MATERIAL!) when uberipermegashitty Go Princess and the equally terrible Futari Wa and Smile destroyed my interest for an entire year for the Pretty Cures and for animes in general for a month (!), the one with whom I passed both my 40th birthday and new year's eve. Those moments were the best I could ever ask for and are memories that will always stick with me, like it will stick with me her hentai dakimakura and the idea that she will always be together with me in times of need.
10/10 for this immaculate episode (minus Kaito), 6 for the last dying gasps of No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger, 9/10 for this show in general and a status as a favourite of mine amongst immortal titans like Hokuto No Ken 1, the original Dragon Ball anime trilogy, the 80's Saint Seiya and the 90's Sailor Moon.
For those who weren't entertained and repeat the same braindead, stupid babbling the tokusatsu "fans" of my a$$ like to throw around about plot writing characters bla bla bla bla bla bla bla when giving their own "opinions" about shows they didn't like, torture your eyes a là Clockwork Orange with steaming pile of garbage like the beforementioned awful cure seasons or overhyped trash like K-Pop Demon hunters, that's all you deserve.
I can't wait to watch Aikatsu! from the same main writer of Kimi To Idol as soon as I can!

Respect Kpop demon hunters, it’s rightfully hyped. Song, album and film of the year and it has a great message.

Another fun season of the series, but I dunno, like I'm not saying it was bad or anything but for me the more I think about it the more meh it seems, I don't think the girls grew personally that much, there wasn't the one episode when we got to know their real struggle of each of the girls and how they manage to over come it, I specially didn't like Uta, she just deus ex sang her way thru life with that begin said the animation was super solid most if not all of the time, I'm really glad it has been consistent for plenty of seasons already, Kokoro is such a cutie, never got tired of her saying her catch phrase and love how much energy has voice always had, most of the time I don't care for blue Cures but I was also a fan of Nana and Wink's design was my favorite from this season, and then we have the cute companions, I don't like those usually either but Purirun and Meroron were great.

Trio Dreams is a top 3 Precure song / ED for me, alongside both Kirakira☆Precure A La Mode EDs.

The Age of Idols is over. The Time of the Detectives has come. Cure Arcana Shadow is already a mega hit

A decent precure season overall!
I need somebody who can love me at my worst
No, I'm not perfect, but I hope you see my worth
'Cause it's only you, nobody new, I put you first
And for you, girl, I swear I'll do the worst

If you stay forever, let me hold your hand
I can fill those places in your heart no else can
Let me show you love, oh, I don't pretend, yeah
I'll be right here, baby, you know I'll sink or swim

it just never really came together for me, which is a major bummer as an aikatsu fan. i think it was really missing the 'starting from the bottom' feeling that makes idol anime so enjoyable. it kind of feels like they were immediately popular and capable. instead of having the bad guys just become fans of the girls, i think the bad guys should have been a rival idol group, that would have been so cute. they could have been a little rocker style cause you know kids love that sort of thing. some sort of ranking the girls need to climb would have helped too. also i said it before but cure wink was way under utilized. for a show that was 49 episodes long it doesn't feel like anything happened LOL there should have been way more songs as well! overall i think it's a very run of the mill season, i'm only salty because of the wasted potential (vs something like wonderful precure where it was average but i didn't have high expectations...)

@Marinate1016 Just commenting to say you're 100% right.

Onto my thoughts:

Idol Precure was a disappointment to me, personally. I think what really soured it in my eyes was the fact that what was meant to be Idol Precure's big milestone (the 5,000-seat concert) wasn't shown in-series at all. At the risk of sounding dramatic, I just plain think that's unforgivable. I can see the potential appeal of "the concert is in REAL LIFE," but not showing it AT ALL in the actual series itself shoots it in the foot. Both feet.

From a meta perspective, it ages the series terribly. From a narrative perspective, it's like I said before - what was supposed to be a milestone for the characters was removed, therefore we don't get to be there. We don't get to FEEL it. When it comes to writing stories, I'm always thinking about trying to get the audience/reader to "go through it with the characters." By not showing the concert in the anime itself, a disconnect between us and the characters has been created, one where Idol Precure has now made it big but we feel sort of left behind.

I think about the Precure series I enjoyed (and cared about more), and without going into too much detail, the ones I like tap into "going through it with the characters." That means characters not always winning without any struggle, either.

What I mean by that is that I believe one of my biggest issues with Idol Precure (aside from what I mentioned before with the concert) is that it leans too far into the fantasy of becoming an idol. Now I'm not saying it has to be super dark or edgy, it's that it felt like the characters didn't really have to ... work hard. It felt like Tanaka organised and did too much for them, honestly. It actually makes Kazuma look kind of silly in comparison (him getting rejected vs. Idol Precure not having to worry about that at all).

I wished there was more of a focus on how much fans' passion can inspire Precure and vice versa. It looked like it was going to have that as a theme very early on, but then it didn't really.

I really wanted to like this Precure series more, but the finale just didn't feel earned to me. "Darkness and light need each other to coexist" can be a great idea when applied right, but we got no thought process of the characters coming to that conclusion, because they didn't really have to struggle all that much.

I understand what a power fantasy is, it just doesn't feel earned because I didn't feel a sense of progression from the characters. It's like how a few episodes ago, there was that moment where everyone said their goals are exactly the same - but I didn't feel like they'd really grown, they just sort of got those Idol Milestones (concerts, etc) handed to them.

I initially thought each of them were going to have each of their own passions regarding the idol concept (Uta singing, Nana piano, Kokoro dancing, and I thought Purirun would be media/PR and Meroron would be songwriting), and the anime would show them developing these skills, ex. creating their new songs together. If Meroron put her love of poetry into songwriting, there could've been a nice payoff where, when she joins the others, her skills help their music reach new heights. But that's definitely my bias showing, because I love stories that really delve into characters' dreams and how they achieve them by supporting each other.

@Rozu667 don't worry, there are some better Precure seasons than this one. The precure series really went downhill with the years after Hugtto.
