| So I started to watch this series with high hopes, expecting to be one of the best of this season, and now with six episodes through I'm so disappointed. What suprises me the most is that this show has an overall score of 8.21 as of today. This show isn't bad but it surely doesn't deserve more than 7 in my opinion. Personally I don't like to give scores before a series ends, but if I had to give one now it would be 6. And If someone asks why, I can explain it. The Story and Art are perfectly ok, but the characters are the huge flaw of this show. It's not that they're annoying or something, it's just that they are so perfect. The good guys are soooo good and the bad guys are soooo bad. This really pisses me off because it makes the show so fucking obvious and predictable. Seriously those 7 main characters are so nice and sweet, especially Bro, who is the very definition of the word GOOD. I guess even Jesus would be jealous of his kindness. But than we have the bad guys, being that guard an the Doctor who are the most sick villains ever. Do you guys don't agree? |

| Come on...... There is only less than 2000 user vote this and Angel beat got less than 7000 user vote this... Can't say this is overrate ( meaning many people leave it blank instead of scoring it,many people wan't to put low score but they hesitated it .Compare with other Anime's score user number and you can see the reason clearly) |

About characters: for now they're shallow and not really well-developed, but these are the only flaws, imho saying that something is overrated just because of explicit contrast between bad and good guys is... somewhat strange. If we were to compare this show to the rest of this moeshit that airs in a great number every season... I'd rather watch the 'anime with a great story but not-so-great characters' than the later one. I think that 8 is a perfect score for this show. At least for now. |

| Casshern Sins not touch 8 and already finished, and this one still run 6 episode and already have score that high, so yeah this one is overrated =p Gah... score on anime database like this is always shit anyway, just don't trust them. For the animu itself, definitely this one of the best of this season... yeah its have some silly scene and its bother me too, but you can't deny the OST, Visual, acting is stunning. |

Story is something original, but until now there wasn't plenty of story development right? Sure, every character has it's background story (some to be still unfolded I guess), but again what about the rest, what happens in this 6 episodes? The Art is completely average imo, with the exception of the most brutal scenes, and about the music, It's good. My favorite aspect in this series so far. Still comparing this show to the so-called "moeshit" is insulting to the very show itself. Stating that this show is better than moe shows isn't an praise imo... As for the best show of the season, personally I think it's Tatami Galaxy by far. There is a great story/stories with intriguing characters an original art. But the again, everyone has different tastes, so I understand everyone who considers this to be the best one. Peralisc said: peroxid said: Do you guys don't agree? You don't do english, do you? | It's average. The content is a lot different from what you normally see, but they're applying same old hot-blooded shounen attitudes towards it. I was expecting a dank, complex story about prison life for these kids especially in the time period they live in-- I expected it to be harsh. But it just goes for shock value to get you to riled up or sympathetic. Seriously, if I have to listen to another speech about "nakama", I might puke. Best I've seen this series offer was the first three or four minutes when all their faces were covered when they were on the bus. After that, things started going downhill. |

Well basically, this 6 eps only introduction because its only cover 2 from 22 manga volume for now. and what this show deliver is what you want from introduction, but the problem is this is anime, when you already reach 6 episode or so you want the "real" stuff started.. Well with all the probs, I'm still think this is 2nd best after Oofuri Natsu-hen for anime of the season. and just reading l TS post, hell... you ranting about this anime or the character ? |

| I for one don't agree. I think this anime is probably one of the most realistic things I've ever watched. All of this could happen in real life. There's no extremely crazy ass faces, no weird symbols such as sweat drops or stress marks, no lame ass sound effects, and nothing that couldn't happen in for real. It's just amazing. The voices aren't too crazy sounding either. If anything, it's brilliant and seems to be UNDERrated by some people. |

| Hell no this isn't overrated. What are you talking about? Perfect good characters? For one, they're all in JAIL. The first episode they all had a big mouth and one of them beat up all the others, including the little one. The nice guard is a total coward. One bad guy is bad cause he's a pedo, one is bad cause he's after money. And seriously, compare this to the first six episodes of any random anime. I think this show has the potential to become the next Death Note-quality show. |

I could go on to explain why in depth, but I can't be bothered, and know it won't change most peoples opinions... But basically, it comes down to the overload of generic shounen, ecchi and 'moe' shows that continue to come forth each season. Occasionally a series dares to sway from the norm, Rainbow being one of them. The anticipation for a series with a dark atmosphere and 'realistic' story has blinded many individuals due to it's discrepancy amongst the anime scene. In more simpler terms, not moe + srs bzns = omg awesomeness!1!!1 In actuality, however, the series has and repeats the same flaws over and over. The characters are all exceptionally dull, no one standing out from the other... What should be inspiring events, prove nothing more than clichéd corniness- In-fact, the amount of cheesiness the series pervades could possibly be enough to start a dairy business... Wash, rinse, repeat... etc. I can say with confidence that if this were a live-action drama or a western novel, it would not garner the same attention it does in its current medium, for unlike in anime, war stories are all too common place there... And this is plain and simply, an average one at best from what I've seen (one grating on my patience anyways). |

| not moe + srs bzns = omg awesomeness fak yes, so true if we go by that with poor logic, if this kind of shit get 7 it not that bad to give +1 for this show rite Btw I understand all the complaint about the subjective point (story, plot, etc) But anyone can't deny the objective point (graphics, sound, acting) on this series is superb, for me even the story will proven bad later, if I must judge it properly I wil give 7 just from objective point rate. |

(Edit: sorry, that was Spoon's past so it might be true, but the mushroom cloud looks like an A-bomb. There doesn't seem to be any radiation...hmm) I watched till ep 2 and am thinking of dropping it. Come on, yeah the Thread Starter is correct, the villains really suck good time. Ep 2 is the single most horrible ep I've ever seen.. it's like tragedy+ one immensely horrible H freaky scene. God.... It is overrated, but under-appreciated. Look at the reviews we have here, look at so many ppl saying this show is the best this season. And seriously, this series isn't that realistic. It is extremely good to some ends (Go into this place, 1st day you get along with all your cellmates and it may seem even better than being outside?) and extremely bad in some other parts (Get tortured by officers etc.). More likely, this series is playing at impact resulted from elements on both ends of a spectrum. And hey, the 1st ep isn't exactly that dark you know... the mood/atmosphere is only like middle only. And till ep 2 it got slightly darker, but it's more of tragedy than an overall heavy mood. |

| Honestly I'm often hear complaint about the manga on the beginning part, and I'm now understand it, yeah on some part this show is very naive and I'm not like it. And they lack of despairin' BGM to describe the grit too, I think the naivety on some part of the plot can be somewhat ceased if they put some despairing track which can make we feel gloomy and feel their nakama-tachi naivety is useless and we feel sympathy for them. But regardless of some probs, yeah for me this one overrated too but at least its still better than the most of title on this season. And I hope its still improve and became one of title we must remember in our life. |

| Well, I have scored a bit too highly but its mainly because I know whats gonna happen in this series and I'm excited to see a "translated" version of what I read. =P Unfortunately, I'm worried this series won't animate the whole story and stop at some point, which would really suck. I just hope Madhouse animates all 22 volumes because certain background revelations take place much later in the manga. ;) |

| I kind of overrated it for myself. I thought it was going to have the same feeling as the manga, but it came out merely as a "good" show to me. I think it's my fault that I'm not enjoying the series because I'm making it out to be something it isn't. This show is a throwback to shonen series that have little to no appeal to the yaoi fanbase as a seinen show. Sure, this is a seinen show, but lets not fool anyone, deep, deep down this is a shonen show. |

Then again, I can't say that I dislike them. I'm still interested in them. tehnominator said: I was expecting a dank, complex story about prison life for these kids especially in the time period they live in-- I expected it to be harsh. I don't want to see a unique premise go to waste. However, the show still manages to entertain me. After accepting that this is just how it's going to be for now, I watch for the intensity and for the characters to pull out some crazy righteous stunts to get through the toughest situations. I just hope that the anime will take a step above this and have room for cast/plot development. *Waiting on total episode number to be confirmed* fertygo said: And I hope its still improve and became one of title we must remember in our life. -thumbs up- =] Rather than being concerned if this show is overrated at THIS point.. Yes, Maid-sama is indeed overrated, but still I prefer that show at this one (and trust me, I hate moe and more mainstream stuff). But still I at least have some laughs while watching that one. This show is simply shounen show disguised as seinen .It looks like One Piece characters, dropped into a seinen series, and I don't have any problems with One Piece, although the whole nakama talk pisses me off, but still it's two things that don't combine. At least Maid-sama is a straightforward Shounen/Shoujo (parody) show. Metroid said: Also thread's logic is fucking dumb. This is a seinen but it seems like a shonen? So it must be shonen? Everything KyoAni makes is shoujo? I can't really say for sure, since I didn't watch them, but after making a little search of their titles they look to me as shoujo/shounen. And what is the problem with that? Labeling shoujo as "bad melodramatic soapopera" is fucking dumb on the other half. In general saying that a specific genre is bad, is a sign of stupidity... |
