Yeah, I also has find this game more difficult to the others... Specially in the buying/selling players... And to be contrated to teams with great status...

Buying/selling players got more difficult, true. But offering a contract got worse, you can try to reduce the salary a little, just to make sure it's done, but then they still don't accept . >_>

Well, does someone know where to find a tutorial to do tactics and things related to it? My tactics with my saves on Sevilla and Valencia aren't so good :/
Doing tactics are hard as hell on this game. At FM 2010 it wasn't such a pain in the ass.

Certainly FM is a bitch for n00bs.... I was really surprised by the different stuff you gotta consider and all the players and variables and so many other things that got really confused at first and gave it a sexond chance after starting with a more established club.... Definitely if ou pretend to play FM better start with a team you know. For example I started for real with Liga de Ascenso's Leon (Mexican Second-tier League) and well managed to get slowly the knack of the game with each passing game.

After that started to read all the stuff in guides here and there on the webz and started to understand it more and well little by little got used to it and actually managed to get what I wanted... Of course that game isn't going perfectly but if I'm really promoted to the First Tier then I'd probably get my problems solved...

Pr1nc3 is right! It's so hard to get the right balance when it comes to salaries... That's my problem with that file... Luckily my team is awesome so far and I will likely win the Promotion thus TV Revenues and new Kit Incomes and more money from the boardroom for salaries and even maybe some transfers...

For tactics... First of all look up for one that suits your team... and I got a few lots of forms and weird positions and tasks but depends a lot on what you got available and how you wanna play...

For example in this second-tier game I play with the classic 4-4-2 Diamond, aka midfielders stand as on a diamond tho they don't really stay on that position always as everyone develops different functions.... I keep a standard default defense line (Defend Central Defenders and Auto Fullbacks) a Anchor man who defends, two wide midfielders, one on each side, who are on auto too a Complete Forward (tho you need a man who really can be one), and depending on the situation tho my most usual set for the second Forward is Deep-lying man

That's for that file. For teams like say Serie A's Juventus I play with a wild 4-2-4 that switch around when the time is needed... this one works with Auto Fullbacks, Defend Central Defenders, a Defend Anchor Man, a Ball Winning Midfielder, Two Defensive Wingers a Trequartista locked on the opposing Area and a Support Deep-Lying Forward and when it's needed the Trequartista is switched to Support Targetman and the midfielder is transformed into a Support Attacking midfielder.

In a few words, there are lots of forms to make a Tactic, but in my experience, first of all you need a solid defense and in this case keeping a 4men line and maybe a Defensive Midfielder there locked in your side of the pitch is good... Let the others go wild and play for you... Pretty much my formations are based on that Defensive line. Tho if you lack of a DM you can always set a pair Defensive Ball Winning MC to get all your stuff done there... and let the wingers and the strikers be the creator of goals

Finally I got a third formation a 4-3-3, that looks more like a 4-5-1 since works with a single striker that would be required to be good at aerial play, two great wingers that love to go up and down the pitch and a bitchy midfield trio... In this one I keep the same defensive line included the anchor man, then add to MC, one with Box to Box and the other being a support Ball winning MC while the Two Attack Defensive Wingers support the fullbacks and a nice Support Targetman... This one is used in my Wolves game... There lots of possibilities... It's your choice...

Also got a 4-5-1 Asymmetric... 4defensive line anchorman, a wide midfielder, a winger a midfielder, usually ball winning and a attacking midfielder. The Anchor on the middle, the MC in one side and the AMC on the other while the wide midfielder is on the AMC and the winger on the MC side and a Complete forward finishes the formation...

So.... anyone else with Formation and tactics ideas? Oh, I also think touchline commands are pretty important! depends on the way you wanna play or you love to play but I personally love to pass around the ball and wait for the right time to get through the opposing defensive line and score in the best chance possible... aka a short passing play... Of course you need to be a good passing team overall... Lots of options... it's your choice

After a long time playing and trying to find a team, I finished my first season with Deportivo Alavés from Spain on Segunda Division B and got promotion to Liga Adelante. Now I'm trying to sign with every player who became free agent XD

Btw, I created a tactic on this save, and I got pretty good results (I was unbeaten for 20 matches or even more, even on the play-offs XD), although sometimes I changed little details (who weren't saved with the tactic) because of the assistant coach and some teams. And well, I don't know if it will work on someone's save but if someone wants the tactic, just ask me o/

Which's the basic setup of your tactic???

I've kept playing with my Juventus File and I've kept my formation and I've only been forced to play with 3 midfielders when I play against Internzzionale since they're really a hard team and their strength lies on their midfield.... besides Inter everyone else has been easy to defeat....

Even when Udinense played with a weird ultra recovering tactic set up.... I easily tied with them but also could win against them.... they played with a 3-6-1 (yes 6) that's a 3-4-2-1... 3 centre backs, 2 midfielders, 2 wide midfielders, 2 ofensive central midfielders and a centre forward.... Later in the game switch around 5-4-1 aka 5-2-2-1 and then 4-4-2 aka 4-3-1-2...

Well, my tactic is a 4-4-2, but it's kinda different.

Philosophy: Fluid
Starting Strategy: Control
Passing Style: Default
Creative Freedom: More Expressive
Closing Down: Press More
Tackling More: Agressive
Marking Zonal: Marking
Crossing: Default
Roaming: More Roaming

Primary Playmaker: Right Midfielder (Centre)
Primary Target Man: Striker (right)
Target Man Supply: Mixed

Defensive Line, Width and Tempo: Normal
Time Wasting: Rarely
Focus Passing: Down Both Flanks
Counter Attack: Yes
Play Offside: No

Player instructions:
GK
Two Automatic Full Backs
Defend Central Defenders
-
Left Defensive Midfielder Defend
Right Midfielder (Centre) - I change between Central Midfielder -> Support
or Deep Lying Playmaker -> Support
Midfielder (Left) - Wide Midfielder -> Support
Attacking Midfielder (Right) - Winger -> Attack
-
Striker (left) - Complete Forward (I changed between Support and Attack)
Striker (right) - Poacher -> Attack

I used this tactic on my first season, well, that's it ^^

Interesting way to build a formation that ended up working for you. It's interesting but also has some troubles in some basic rules you should follow around when creating a tactic.

Well first of all looks like defensive-wise everyone agrees a 4-line men is the easiest and best used in any team so that's not the problem. The problem lies on the midfield doesn't it?

I used someone like that before, is like my asymetric 5 men midfield with a man less. it's effective, but at the same time brakes one of the rules I've learned to follow in my Juventus file and one I learnt reading some Tutorials for Managers. "Keep a Symetric balance between the left side and the right side." what does that mean? Well if you divided the field in two halves vertically being the kick off and the penalty spots the references you should get the same number of people and being virtually at the same position between each other just like if you were using a mirror in just one side of the pitch.

Of course if you want to ignore the rule you can and if the tactic works like that then that's okay and you should keep on using it.

But of course it has major weaknesses. I don't really know how your team behaves on offence or defence but I feel you attack primarily on the right side and the one that scores most is obviously the poacher or maybe the right centre midfielder and you sometimes attack from your left side. And what happens the most is your left side sitting deep and your right side located up on your opposition field playing happily on the offence. Here comes the tricky part of the analysis...

Maybe when you lose the ball one of the opposition central midfielders goes past behind your MCR and then either pass to the left of the opposition or go past dribbling the DMCL then supply one of the strikers or maybe going to his left midfielder who obviously advances with the ball unopposed for a good distance and then supplies the striker wither with a cross, a low pass to the feet or even supplies the upcoming pair of central midfielders that ran past your central midfielders. But what does this mean? Well you either receive most of the goals from assists generated from the centre of the pitch or sometimes the left side but most of the goals vome from your right side of the pitch, left side of the opposing team... Is that so?

Who knows maybe I'm wrong and my assumptions are plainly wrong... Which were the standings of your team? Which were the final results...??

Later I will show my final results, and sorry to be late on the reply haha, I was busy watching animes and stopped playing in this save for a while, because now I'm playing with another team (right now I'm with Sheffield Wednesday, yesterday I just got promoted and also won League One with the Owls in the first season) XD
Man, to say the truth, yeah, the right side was the one playing on the offence and also the poacher did score some goals (I forgot to say that I used a target man, it was going well, but later it didn't work, so I bought another striker, and I changed to poacher), but mostly of the goals were made by the striker on the left. Though the beginning of the offensive moves have always been on the right side, from what I remember (but sometimes the wide midfield did some crosses to the strikers as well). I did this tactic mostly because of what I had on the team on that time. I had only right winger, and a left midfielder, so I did it after thinking for some time.
And thanks for the hints, later I should do some changes when I return to the save, I guess, because also I think that the game can handle well against my tactic now.
Apparently the key to make tactics is to fit them on the team and players that you got. The pitch dimension is another detail (my teams that I managed never play well on small pitch dimensions >_>) And also, maybe depending on the country, I think. I was reading about playing a save on england for a example, and that a 4-4-2 was one of the most appropriate formations to play at there. Well, I played with the Owls, and I did a 4-4-2 according to the team that I had and got many positive results [though when I played away at small pitches, things were different sometimes XD].

Yup Yup I've following the newest news about Football Manager next release, its 2012 version, in Football Manager's Facebook Official page and some at its site www.footballmanager.com.... Lots of new features for 2012 release... Will make things a bit easier and looks like more fun. I already wanna play ti but I guess i'll have to wait to play it a few months...til next year, meanwhile I still need to end a season with ONE team ahahahah... Been playing 5 different files and I haven't finished playing a whole season in any of them!

I had played it. But already tired for now.
the 3D engine quite good, but still kinda weird movement.

summary its great game, kinda hard to always win, even with awesome team, sometime just lose.

btw DeGea is kinda super, really high attribute. I won Champions league on 1st season with ManUtd.

Yep, though the movements on 3D engine were always kind of weird xD
I was tired of it too.. stopped playing since weeks already. I started with Ajax, then switched to Man Utd.

I agree with you, it's really tough to always win (though I managed to win the Eredivisie being unbeaten at the league with Ajax at the first season o_o). And sometimes this game is just crazy as hell... I get really pissed off with some strikers missing a lot of goals, for a example xD

I agree, I was playing with Man Utd too lately... De Gea was amazing till now. Rooney too :D Anyway, you played the Champions league final against which team? :P

against Milan. Actually I can't believe it I won it, after all deafeat in other trophy. Champions is last one, and I'm not using my strongest squad. Sometimes just like that, this game. I won 1-0, but never win again Champions in next 5 season -_-', but win some other trophy though.

Btw FM now using Steam. I never played with steam before. But I think it's ok.

Hmm...that was nice.

I'm currently managing Internacional in Brazil, and this nation has rather...unique yet complicated league, but luckily my boys managed to adapt it well.

Ah I managed Internacional once before. Interesting setup in Brazil with the national league and state championships. I think the state championships are valued more than the league itself, at least that what it seems to me. Plus I like how the teams who quailfy for Copa Libertadores don't have to play in the Copa do Brasil. Less matches you have to deal with.

ah yeah, that was relieved about that rules. And my team just reach the worldwide reputation here after managing for 5 years!! Wohoo, I'm just awesome!
