Shes adorable, rather psychotic yet has a tragic story. The manga is what really made me love her as much as I do though, it shows a whole different side to her that the anime just doesn't include.

She's adorable, psychotic and I cried when she died! I felt really sorry for her, particularly in the manga. She just wanted to be loved.

I love Mariko for the simple fact that she really just wanted her father to love her. That's what kept her going for all the years she was locked up, was the belief that someday Kurama-san would come get her and that she and he and her mother would live happily as a family. It broke my heart when she reached out to him with tears in her eyes, and I also liked that we saw the loving side of Kurama-san in that scene, which prior to that was really only shown when he helped Nana to live on. Mariko's story was tragic and she was really just a child who didn't know any better, simply because she was never taught. She knew only killing and torture and fear. If she had been shown love through her life, she could have had a happy ending. I would have loved to have her as my own child, to be honest.
