| Saki. Deserves a lot more than 7.6, it's just so good, ended up watching the whole season in one day and reading the manga the next day :x First I wasn't sure whether I should watch it or not because...It's about mahjong and what the hell, how could mahjong be interesting? But then they did such an amazing job with making it entertaining, turning mahjong into some sort of supernatural battle game. The plot was nothing special, yet it's one of those plots that I'd always enjoy no matter how many times I've seen it. I loved the characters. And there're so many, making sure that everyone will find someone he/she will like. (Hell, not just one, all the characters are so good~) The art is amazing, but then again it's just personal preferance. And wow, look at all those amazing voice actors, Kugumiya Rie, Itou Shizuka, is this heaven? The only thing I didn't like about the anime was the silly openings and endings. But still, I enjoyed every minute and I'll probably re-watch it soon :3 |

Anyway, I find that anything that has an average above 7.5 means that it is a good anime Errr...I'll just list some stuff from the anime, so don't read the spoiler if you're going to watch the anime. In short, some of the characters have unique and quite inhuman skills, making the whole thing awesome.Other than that they put all sorts of flashy animations and effects into the mahjong matches. Too lazy to look for pictures from the anime but it's pretty much the same as it is in the manga. That's what I mean--> ![]() And the characters: Saki, the main character, has inhuman luck (and hell, she's the fucken reincarnation of Black Rock Shooter!) Then we got the loli girl, Yuuki, who goes berserk after eating tacos (TACO POWER, HELL YEAH) There's also a girl who can hide her presence (stealth mode), one that can read and manipulate the flow of the game...Well, I don't want to list them all. Still, there's a big difference between, let's say, a 8.6 anime and a 7.6 one. Hell, I find it a much better anime than, for example, Clannad, yet the difference in the score and the size of the fanbase is just so big. Wow I'll have to fix this comment later, does't make much sense but got something else to take care of first :x |

Wow I've actually learnt something today Also, I find that the MAL scoring system is broken, as the scores are more based on how well the anime is known and less on how good the actual anime is! |

| Very underrated anime film Sea Prince and the Fire Child. Highly recommend to any a fan of older animation. It was marketed as the Japanese counterpart of The Little Mermaid, but far surpassed it in what it presented. Story is kind of like a Romeo x Juliet feel. It covers themes such as romance, segregation and making sacrifices to keep peace and balance. I won't lie, the art style is aged, but the color scheme is still top notch. The English dub is solid as well. I'd give it 9.5/10. |

(And Ponyo is a classic from my childhood.) Which brings me to the fact that Ponyo is underrated. i mean, it's pretty well liked and popular, but it's not what you think about when you hear Studio Ghibli. You think of Totoro and Howl's Moving Castle. Maybe the somethingsomething about Princess Nausicaa and Kiki's Delivery Service. |

| It could be just me, but I think that Higurashi no Naku Koro ni/Kai is an underrated series. I personally don't know anyone who has watched the series, read the manga, or played the sound novels (then again, I've never played them either. I want to though!). I thought it was a great series! I never understood why it didn't get the recognition it deserved. Other titles that come to mind would be Welcome to the N.H.K., Serial Experiments: Lain, Shiki, and Ergo Proxy. |

| Ehhh, now that I think about it... I can see how Higurashi is pretty overrated to some people. With 2 main series, and 2 OVAs. Along with the manga, sound novels, live action films, and the upcoming Outbreak movie(?) That's my bad But how is were the other 4 I mentioned overrated? Especially Welcome to the NHK and Serial Experiments Lain? |

I thought it was great and I'm looking forward to "Outbreak" this Spring. I just make this clear... The reason why I believe that these series are underrated is because when I mentioned these series to my friends, or people at school, I get the same reaction which is "What's that? I never heard of it. What's it about?" That's me though I guess everyone has different views on what's under/overrated. |

That's why whats overrated and underrated can get a bit confusing, but this club is for persuading people WHY you think what a certain anime is. Anyway, none of my so-called friends even watch anime or manga. They know only of popular titles like Naruto and Dragon Ball Z, but thats it. Some of them read crappy shoujos, but they're beyond caring for. |

| I think that "Problem Children", "Katanagatari" and "Sasami-san@Ganbaranai" are really underrated. Both of them have really good plots and such, but it just gets overshadowed by the overrated ones. Another I think was "Bakemonogatari", but that's appreciated now, I remember the time that it was so underrated. Then the rest of the series came out, then everyone started watching it, etc. etc. |

I must say that Hokuto no Ken series are really underrated outside Europe. People know it only from the 1986 movie and that horrible live action. Too bad the real action begins somewhere at 20th episode, but many of chinese cartoons have this problem. Souten no Ken, the prequel to the glorious Hokuto no Ken. I bet many people dropped it because of the "3 episode rule", because the first 3 episodes are your typical cliched moeshit. Also, heard that Legend of Galactic Heroes has the same problem, but I'm just downloading first 30 episodes right now, so I'll see for myself. |

| You guys should try C (the soul money bullshit title thingy) - http://myanimelist.net/anime/10163/C Finished it yesterday and whilst it's a bit rushed and lolwut at times, it is not bad. I was highly skeptical it'd be any good but was kinda pleasantly surprised. Needed another few episodes, especially as it was an original screenplay - probably neglected/dropped due to it's premise but worthwhile by the end. |

| X-Tv - Even though as a big fan of the Manga series I have some complaints about the Anime adaption, it's still a beautiful show that deserves some more recognition imho. And the artwork and animation can still be appreciated even by today's standard. Terra he - Some may find the character design weird bc of its age, but I personally find it charming. And the story is intriguing and the ending totally moved me. Wolfs Rain - i mean, seriously, how many Anime are out there that actually got ANIMALS as the main protagonists? Not to mention the unique take on of the quest for paradise and the ambiguous but satisfying ending. I also totally love the references to indian culture and belief. |
