| People are stupid and can't grasp that this is the alternate timeline that was shown in the movie. Also, no the drawings are not worse, they're drawn differently to highlight the fact that this is a different timeline; it's an artistic choice. Also, I was told these drawings are closer to the manga so there's that as well. |

| Except for Kyon looking too young (lol), I'm fine with the new designs. Anyway, I won't blame them for not admitting this is the new and only series of Haruhi they have left, but will still pity them. Keep praying for season three folks. |

If he's alot younger like his appareance indicates, why does it seem like they're at the same school level? Maybe I'm spoiled, but it would seem more natural, even for a different timeline, if they at least kept the art "level" and Kyon's (visual) age. |

| Not a fan of the art myself but I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as people say. ZOMG IT'S NOT TEH SAME, IT'S NOT WHAT I WANT IT TO BE THEREFORE IT SUCKS. Well, it's not really meant to be. Deal with it or drop it, easy. |

| I think the reason why most people hate this show is because of two things: the art style and the change in character. Most of them hate the designs because Kyon looks too much like a kid and Nagato is too moe. The characters act differently as well with Nagato being the most different. People wanted a continuation of the Haruhi franchise with more Haruhi bossing people around, more Kyon and his deadpan comments, and more emotionless Nagato. |

| I guess that the main reason for that is the new Nagato. She has always been a dandere and seeing her as some typical moe is kinda… odd? |

What I am trying to say is that she is now an absolutely different person from what she has always been in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. My mistake was that I used ‘moe’ for clumsy. |

| I don't relly mind the new Nagato..if she had some visual resemblance of how she used to look. Kyon needs his appearance and deadpan comments. In other words, visuals on the same/similar level they've kept throughout Haruhi, and same/similar appearance and behavior of Kyon. Oh, and maybe fixing the too different Asahina. |

Yuki Nagato here is what would be the Yuki from that normal world, so of course she acts differently. Though I do agree that KyoAni should've done this series to make consistency with the art style. But hopefully I can overlook that as time passes.I think the reason why most people hate this show is because of two things: the art style and the change in character. | Because people have high expectations without knowing anything about the manga it was adapted from. More over, they are not Haruhi fans and just want to voice their hate, considering this is much easier to attack than the original franchise. High expectations is a given for a Haruhi-based series, which is even more reason for keeping or even improving the art and so on. This seems to do the opposite. |

| People don't "hate it", they're just dissapointed... and I can understand. The art is questionnable (for example Kyon's younger head doesn't really fit his voice now), Haruhi animation/art was something impressive back when it aired, this shows now is just in the average 2015 animation (even the OP, so many static shots not fitting the catchy song). The characters are not all lost, and one could say that the plotline is different and so Yuki is, but it's only for the worst : ultra-cliché shy girl blushing everytime, acting like a child, they could gave her that "new personnality with feels" without making that. Please, Haruhi story was actually good with girl characters being quite original... not like this new Nagato. Characters like Tsuruya are still as good, but the sarcastic comments which made Kyon so good to hear are nearly nowhere to be seen in ep2 actually. The overall story is actually.. well is there even a story ? Since it's only ep2 I'm still hoping for something big to land into the show, but actually... I mean look at that romance, one could say it's "cute" but it's just déjà-vu and childish.. I guess some people like this like that but why putting that in Haruhi, any other world and characters could have exactly that kind of thing, using this serie's characters and world is a waste. So no hate, but a lot of people started animes with Haruhi or at least have some great memories of it, please understand it can be painful to watch this half-baked cliché romance using Haruhi's world. |

| Because people thought this was the third season. (because autism) Because people think that this ruined the chance of KyoAni ever making a third season. (KyoAni doesn't care about Haruhi, Free is more likely of getting a third season than Haruhi) Because people think it's taking place in the main Haruhi universe. (despite the title, synopsis and the first episode saying otherwise) Because people prefer anime girls without any character over moeblobs obsessed with turkey. (sounds like a penis metaphor) Because people think that KyoAni's Haruhi had actual plot. (top kek) Because somehow a different design makes the whole show bad. (Oh boy, Kyon doesnt look like that bland guy with a long face anymore, he's now a bland guy with a round face, gasp, the horror) Because it lacks Haruhi. (which is somehow a bad thing, apparently) Bottom line is: Disappearance of Nagato Yuki is average. Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi S1 is average. Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi S2 is garbage. Disappearance of Nagato Yuki is already an improvement over Season 2. |

| I don't hate it and I'm all for a different take on a series with a change in characters plot etc (otherwise why else make a spin off?), I started this knowing it'd be different/unrelated and that it's a slice-of-life (which I'm usually fond of). I think the issue is that the overall result is... boring and cliched in not a good way? My main problem is with the characters - they could had be tweaked to be different but still interesting/intriguing in a new way, but instead they're just reduced to very bland characters - still likeable, but bland. I wouldn't have found this interesting even if it wasn't a Haruhi spin-off. But I'm willing to stick by for a few more episodes to see if it grows on me. |

It's not that much about being different from the original, it's about everything that makes a show : characters feel flat (like Kyon bitter comments are watered to the usual normal guy, Yuki became the super cliché already seen 1000 times shy girl, and so on), the art is just ok (while the original serie was on-top back when it aired), and the story/interactions are boring. I mean just look at those "romance" scenes in ep1/2, even in the restaurant in the ep3, it's so archetype and sound like a fanfic wrote by a high school student. It's not about hating, but about being disappointed by such a waste, the canon universe & story was original and interesting, no problem with a "fan" story if it's good too, but here it's just flat and cliché. |

But instead of hating a late-night low-budget animation series done by a much less famed animation studio based on a spin-off derivative work by a different author/studio from the 2010 classic film (and classic series before it), you should fairly enjoy it as it is, or stop watching it. I am fairly enjoying it as it is. (But I still hope that KyoAni makes the third [or second] season of Haruhi, with animators of DoSH like Ishihara/Takemoto/Yamada/Utsumi/Ikeda Shoko and Kazumi/Nishiya/Kadowaki/Kitanohara/Kigami ... now Horiguchi-san, where are you?) |

Yes Kyon is different and nagato is boring. Doesn't change the other character which in my opinion have the time to shine like asakura or tsuruya. Either way I never liked Kyon that much but it does hurt to see Nagato so cliché, but still it's not that bad for some people like me. The art isn't that bad but it's typical for anime and animation is average so there is no complaint. And it's different studio, I don't know why the art would bother you that much, so much anime has different studio for different season, this is just a spin-off calm down. Interaction is subjective, I like some character interaction so it doesn't make it bad. Well if you are disappointed it's because you went withsome expectation. I just thought of it as something else than haruhi and I was fine. In conclusion that type of story just don't fit you and the fact that it's a spin-off of your favorite serie make it even worse for you. This serie isn't bad, but it's nothing to show off either. |

It's a haruhi spin-off. If they wanted to make a story that they though could stand on it's own it would do just that. Not comparing it to the source material would be idiotic. While a spin-off can be tonally or thematically different the standard I'm comparing it to is the QUALITY of the original. This is bad as a romcom. It's boring and bland and the characters aren't interesting in the slightest. Their personality is so mute that you don't feel anything for them unless you compare them to the original. First the author of both aren't the same so of course their quality and content would differ. If there is different author I don't think you need to compare both serie. And seriously comparing anime quality while they have different studio is stupid, all studio has different art and animation. That's your subjective opinion of it being bland and that the character's personality are blank. |
