According to a scan from the latest issue of good! Afternoon magazine, horror manga Ajin will be receiving an animated movie trilogy adaptation.

The series is written by Gamon Sakurai and Tsuina Miura (volume 1 only). It began serialization in Kodansha's good! Afternoon magazine in March 2012. It is currently being published with six volumes released.

Ajin also placed in the final rankings of the 2014 Manga Taisho Award, earning a total of 32 points and receiving 8th place.

Synopsis
"Ajin" are humans that lack the ability to die. First discovered during a conflict in Africa, more and more are turning up in human society. Because they are rare, the government will generously reward anybody who turns in an "ajin" so that they can be used for experimental purposes. In the present day, the series revolves around a high school student who expects to have an ordinary summer break; however, his life is about to change...

Mm, thought this might get an anime adaptation because of an "important announcement" by good Afternoon a few weeks ago. Looking forward to this.

Hm, this sounds like it could be quite interesting, and seems to be pretty popular. The wait for each installment to be available online will be a pain though.

If this is going to be movie formatted that would mean absolutely no censorship! Can't wait :)

That's amazing news. I've been reading this for a while, so I expected something like one cour anime adaptation in the near future, but now a film trilogy sounds exciting enough. Looking forward to this. Now I wonder which studio will take care of this...

Film trilogy? Makes sense because most of the scenes in the manga can't be shown on TV without getting heavily censored.

Hmm so far it really hasn't been that horrific imo? I mean there's blood, but the atmosphere doesn't feel too much like a horror. I guess they could mean horror in a different sense than I'm thinking about, but it's not as horrorific as other horror manga I've read in terms of gore or atmosphere, and I'm not the type to like scary stuff anyways. Still a pretty interesting manga so far though. The main character is really different from most characters I've seen, so it's quite refreshing.

Looking forward to it :)
