THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Well I guess this was slightly cheerier than some of the other moody episodes.

Feels a bit humid this episode though. Is it just the heat or what? And anyways, this builds up more of Nagato's relationship with the others in particular Kyon again. Thought it was alright in terms of friendship but felt different from the start.

I find the imagery and imaginations of this episode to be quite done well though. It's as if the literature style of the show took hold.

Yuki was into library books to the extend that they didn't study at all, and showing a bit of Yuki-chan when receiving her own library card.

After getting the glasses, they are back. Yuki trying to understand the situation and Yuki-chan's memories.

This Means Yuki Nagato will Disappear twice.
firstly to turn back into the melancholic original Yuki.
and secondly for that Yuki to return back to this shows 'normal' Yuki from the start.
I just like how both Yuki's are falling for Kyon! XD

Nagato really loves books.

Nagato is trying to understand the situations and the other Nagato's memories.

I like that Yuki specifically picked up "Hyperion"

The imagery used throughout the episode also reminded me of the scene from The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. The scene right before Asakura stabs Kyon.

Pretty slow episode.

More studying/reading at the library.

Nagato is gradually regaining her memories back.

Even though it felt quite slow, this arc might be over sooner than I thought.

Liked the style they used in this episode. Somehow it worked really well in this situation.

I found it hilarious how Yuki just drifts into the library and Kyon tells her to wait. Seems like Yuki is getting a better understanding of the situation by going through Normal Yuki's memories.

It's sad that Original Yuki's time is coming to a close. Like she said, when that will happen is still up in the air.

She gets her glasses but refused to wear them.

I really like the way that this show has been able to create such an unusual atmosphere over the last few episodes despite the sheer simplicity of everything. In this particular episode, I liked how the static effect was used to emphasis the overlap of the two different personalities, especially in Yuki's dream right at the end there.

Also, is it just me, or was the first book that Nagato got from the library the one from the movie where Kyon found the bookmark from the Nagato of the original timeline?

With all the televsion noise effects, I was half expecting something horror-like to pop out, lol.

Anyway, seems like both of the Nagato's are starting to fuse and coexist. Once the process completes, wonder if Kyon is going to treat her any differently.

Understandably so. I typically enjoy these type of shows, but the series somewhat feels like a drag at times for me. This series is honestly pretty slow and I can easily see how one would find this pretty boring.

I have to say, I'm kind of maybe perhaps starting to like this show better than the Haruhi Suzumiya series (except the movie). There's a certain quiet and relaxing atmosphere in this show and Yuki's character here is a whole lot more interesting.

Also, the music. It's amazing. I want it.

The episode was relaxing and slow-paced, but it feels like the arc is nearing it's ending sooner than I thought personally.

The OST is simply amazing, adding to the relaxing atmosphere of the episode, particularly in the library with Kyon and Nagato.

Nagato really likes her books, wanting to read until closing time was adorable of her. =3

It was. Hyperion is where Kyon found the bookmark in the movie, and it is also the book Yuki lent to Kyon waaaay back in the Melancholy arc.

The new Nagato knows she is gradually remembering the events when she was an ordinary shy girl, which could mean the current Nagato's personality is going to disappear someday.
The most difficult and conflicting problem inside her feelings is, this Nagato now loves Kyon, Asakura and the others already even her facial expression usually doesn't unveil. And now, she has now a worry to disappear herself and her current feelings for the others, especially for Kyon. In other word, the new Nagato wouldn't like to disappear because she is now fallen in love with him not as the previous Nagato but as the new independent personality.

Hmm, not bad, their is actually a story going on kinda enjoyable if you're not in hurry. But this should have been like the 3rd/4th episode, not the n°12.

I have to say, I'm now rather amused by all those people who flipped their shit at the start of the series like "OMG THEY TURNED YUKI INTO A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT CHARACTER THIS SERIES IS TERRIBLE I WANT THE OLD YUKI BACK!!!" Well, funnily enough...

TBH I enjoyed the first half of the show, and this second half is absolutely amazing, with the two clashing Yukis. I can't wait to see how this all pans out.

EDIT: An extra thing I realized just now: the lighter elements creeping back into the show (like Yuki's chibified facial expressions returning) perhaps reflects how Yuki's old personality is creeping back in. Very cleverly done.

You can have at least one part of it anytime. The music playing when they were going to get her glasses on the way to the library the second time was an ochestral version of Claude Debussy's Claire de Lune.

is this still going to be 16 episodes? i have a feeling the episode counter at the progress section was x/16, but switched to x/?. maybe that's just me.

i do think this could end up being a decent two-cour show, with 16 interesting episodes making up for the incredibly dull first 1/3.

I'm really enjoying this arc so far. The portrayal of a split personality is really interesting and turned this generic moe blob of a disgrace to Haruhi into something that I actually enjoy.

Huh, just noticed that. Weird, pretty sure it was confirmed to be 16 episodes back then.
Was there ever a case when a series ended up with less episodes than initially confirmed?

Interesting episode in its development although the narrative does not offer very original ideas, merely represent events and situations that a lover of anime will surely already seen in other animated works. Drawings and animations of good, catchy soundtrack. Surely if the series had begun following this juncture, it would be much more interesting.

This episode was oh so very nostalgic. I now remember the original Yuki I have loved.
That hyperion book tho damn.
As for one who read the manga, this arc went by soooooooo sooooo fast.
While the vacation went ironically longer :/

Still, a great episode.

This is the first time I'm actually starting to enjoy this series. This episode was quite well-done, and the slow pace makes it all the better. I have high hopes for this, but somehow, I feel it'll all return to status quo with nothing much having changed.

Pretty slow episode. The memories this kyon very different of memories of nagato-san/

More studying/reading at the library.

Nagato is gradually regaining her memories back. I see dilemma what nagato will remain at the final/end of the story.

I wonder if the glasses have anything to do with it. If she were to wear her old glasses again, would Yuki-chan return?

Why is Asakura so damn cute in this series? Liked how she's so excited about a sale at the market!

Liked how she picked up "Hyperion". That book was special in the original series and I liked the nod to it.

It's managed to get something worthwhile out of this odd idea about Yuki being shocked into a changed personality; it may have seemed like Yuki became cold and emotionless (and seemed a bit like that in her interaction with Asakura) but despite this comes to the same love for Kyon that the "other" Yuki had which demonstrates the reality of that love. It's arguably better dramatically than just presenting her love for him as a given of the character as the first episode did.

I'm not so convinced by the attempt at dramatic tension in a conflict between the "two Yukis" though as it just seems like the "second" Yuki is the first under strange circumstances and the "two" seem to move closer and closer together as this episode proceeds. There doesn't actually seem to be anything to worry about.

Hah! Its looked like, the new Yuki fell on Kyon's charm too and so fixated about the old memories of the old Yuki, until she realized, there was something wrong on herself. I guess, without Kyon realizing it, their visited to the central library was a nice way to heal back Yuki to her old self. But, was it good to the new one? By knewing how those new Yuki felt that she might be a dissappeared one? Those feeling she felt. She won't be dissappeared! So, how they solved it? Well, it sounds complicated, and felt intriguing, especially with how Yuki mind felt like a real robotic alienation thing. She even said no data, what the hell? XD

Well, the only way to made it fixed, by asking to the goddess Haruhi, Yuki. So, where was she on this whole time? I need her to help Yuki's struggle! XD
