...If there is any level of success and interest in anything having to do with Suzumiya Haruhi, it always leaves open the possibility of new material. Consider the fact that throughout the first two seasons, in the mini-series of Suzumiya-Chan, in the film The Disappearance of, and now in the Nagato series, all of the major character voice actors and actresses have been fully present and participating. They are obviously dedicated to the series, and a tight group.
...It is just possible, somewhere, somewhen, that these multiple references and plugs are not just homage to what has gone past, but... they just miight be a bridge, a prelude to more work to come. We'll see. It might go something like, "Hey, it had its moments, but this series didn't go over all that well, because the fans want more Haruhi and strange events."--"Ok, let's give them what they want."
...For the present, I will enjoy what is in the now, as, it is far better than no new Suzumiya Haruhi at all.
...At the end of the Disappearance of film, a unique set of events is present, one that was warned of as being a unsettling set of circumstances. I refer to the presence of more than one self in a time plane.
...And that was a reference to ONE member being doubled. At the film's end game, we have two Asahinas and two Kyons, both within touching distance of one another. An interesting state of events. Seems like there was a lot of confusion and chaos, there at the end. Could the at times outrageous and hilarious antics of the Haruhi-Chan characters have been a result of that? Is the rather dull and shy Nagato a result of all that mess, brought about by the instability caused by thousands of repetitive trips to the pool during the eternal summer? Is it all a plot of the Overmind, or a mind-game of the espers? Heh. You never know with this series. I, for one, would not underestimate the devious mind of the creator of the series.
...A little symbolism, as it pertains to Kyon's presence in each instance, and this thread is, after all, dedicated to him. In the Disappearance of film, when Suzumiya confronts Kyon after he reveals knowledge he should not have of the pattern drawing, Suzumiyta grabs him, and knocks heads. This is a meeting of the minds in a most physical sense, as two universes come to terms. I also love how this Haruhi believes his tale, where the other did not. Ah, to slide...
...Later, when Kyon wakens, he discovers Suzumiya sleeping by his bedside, wrapped in a sleeping bag, She appears very young. Actually, she is in a chrysalis, and, after a brief struggle, sheds her bindings, and emerges, reborn.
...Glad to see folk still care enough about the series to chat about it, despite whatever disappointments they have. |
