| The voices actors tend to be millions better. I like to think that I'm learning Japanese too :D Hirano Aya does Japanese, so to hear her voice and still understand what's going on requires subs. Subs tend to include culture notes that help me to understand more about the types of references Japanese use. I'm sure I'll be able to think of more later... |
| The voices sound cuter, which in turn fit the characters better. It also is more original; in some dubs they have to change what is said because some japanese jokes don't make sense in english. The voices are starting to match characters in recent dubs though. Maybe in a few years.... |

| I agree about the notes ^^ I've really learned a lot of things I didn't know about Japan and it's culture x) and they are really helpful when watching animes which include a lot of terms (for example when watching mecha). |

| I like subbed best because it sounds more natural to me. I have watched so much anime subbed that watching a dubbed one makes me almost want to hate the anime. Not to mention that I am pretty descent/ok at speaking japanese. (been told that I have great pronunciation when speaking japanese) |

| 1. girls get dubbed with voices that sound 30+ 2. southern accents make my ears bleed. (given to characters that use osaka-dialect) 3. i want dialog to match mouth flaps. 4. every time i hear a dub adding unnecessary inflection (over-acting lines), i want to shoot myself in the face. |

| i always thought that the dubbed voice "acting" wasnt all that great...though there are a few out there that i prefer the dub...most of the time its sub for me =D |

| I think one of the few dubbed animes i've seen was inuyasha... because it was on cartoon network ...There are a few others that i've seen dubbed and i dont know if its just me and my opinion here but i get the feeling that when its dubbed it losing its feeling.. or heart.. I mean ok... also they "softcore" it alot... there are like several different ways they say the word "what" in japanese... and in english it just doesnt get that feel... maybe im just picky feelin here... I just dont get as moved when i watch a dub as i do sub's... if i come across a dub i usually try my hardest to look around for the subbed version >.>.. I guess imo... sub > dub for the heart factor... it draws me in more.. i really can get engrossed into it |
| Subbed are better. Why? A: Japan has better voice actors in general. B: If you're smart you'll pick up some Japanese. C: It's how it was meant to be heard. |

| well first dubbing takes out the essence of the anime plus it makes it crappy cuz the english voices never go rite in the other hand spanish subs are not tht bad but they hardly translate in an accurate way cuz they have to keep the same space and rythm within words subs are the best only cuz of they keep the essence of the anime u can learn the japanese if u really put urself into it plus it just plain kicks ass ;D |

| subs are sooooo much better than dubs... U_U you can understand the characters feelings better and the original voices are just great, almost all of them fit exactly! the dubs are ruining the world of anime and slowly this world... (maybe too dramatic?) ='P |
| Dubs adapt the anime to the culture the language belongs to, that's why some like dubs more. But I prefer subs because they are the original voices of the character which gave them life. Japanese dubbers are closest to the creator of the anime and the characters are identified because of the voices. Subs can be changed if they made the incorrect translation, but in dubbing, the number of syllables will never change so dubbing it with a different language will affect it's rawness. I'm not really saying that Japanese dubbers are the best anime is the Japanese's expertise. Like Disney, I can't imagine watching a Japanese dub of Snow White; the creators are always the better than the those who adapt. |

| Subs FTW i hate Dubs; dubs IMO butcher the anime trying to turn it American also the Japaneses voices are much better, they don't tone down the language or violence and they don't use lame jokes that just get on your moves and the Japaneses version are much more funny when they are so post to be on top of that they don't change terms, for example in Bleach. "Shinigami" means death god or god of death depending how you want to say it but in the dubbed its "soul reaper" where the hell dose soul reaper come from? |

| Dubbed anime can never be as good as subbed because they cant adapt the different dialects in japanese, jokes cant be translated to dubbed at all. They replace japanese culture with the culture from the country dubbing, festivals, holidays, sayings all cant be just translated to a different language you would need captions that explain some of their holidays and customs like fansubbed anime has. Dubbed anime will just edit it out. While they tone down violence usually from manga to japanese anime, dubbed anime then tones done the violence from japanese anime thus making an anime made for 16 year olds and turning it into an anime for 7 year olds. |
