What happened?

This might be my favourite manga but it's so unheard of, I kind of wonder what happened to Koike. I know Heavens Door came out after this but since then he seems to have disappeared.
I guess he probably has another job and did these while he didn't, or during his spell time - there's nothing about the guy online at all.

I can only hope he retires soon and comes back to manga - I want to buy a copy to support him but it was only translated into french.

Japanese language search shows he is still active and drawing art on commission as of last year, but he has not released any new comics in a long time. Maybe it is not profitable work for him.

Koike was a manga award winner chosen by Tezuka himself at the age of 16. Sad that his type of trippy storyline is not appreciated.

Wow, I didn't know that about Tezuka.

I'd be interested to see where I can just follow him to see these commissions he's doing nowadays
