Monogatari Series: Final Season
| Now suddenly this is the top 1 again, isn't that strange? I mean today i started to watch bakemonogatari, and my opinion of the first episode was like "this seems like a good anime" but now seeing this score idk if this is the new masterpiece of the decade or just overrated because of the fix with the number of episodes. |

I dropped bake during the first eps. Then, after a few months, I finished it but I didn't remember anything. Then I rewatched it, watched Nise and so on... And now it's my fave anime series of all time. You should watch it and the other seasons as well. |
| Just because it's top 1 on MAL doesn't mean it's the best, it only means that most of the fans that are still watching it think it's a masterpiece, nothing less, nothing more. Decent sequels usually have higher scores thanks to the most devoted fans, even if they are on a similar level. But hey, I also love Monogatari series, although it's extremely difficult to get used to the style of it, took me forever to complete Bake. Now I'm glad I kept watching, after some time I completely fall in love with the characters, storyline and music/animation :3 |

| Objectively? Not the best anime of all time. As a standalone it needs all the series already aired. This one greatly connects all those dosts scattered and converts it into a very pleasing finale. The whole Monogatari universum has its flaws: The story is sometimes very absent and the dialogues sometimes floods with too much nonsense. Many episodes bring out too much of fan service which might be disturbing. But hey, there isn't anime close to terms of originality: Characters are pretty deep, the plot is unusual and the art style gives it an unique, ubiquitous influence in received perception. Top 10 should be deserved, but Top 1 is steep even in my eyes, even though I love Monogatari and feel Kimi no Na wa overhyped. |

| Monogatari Series and Gintama are my favorites, so yes, for me is better than the 99% of all the animes, and definitely so much better than kimi no na wa. |
| Not even remotely close but this is a sequel boosted beyond belief just like Gintama. Merely that here it somehow struck way harder than any of the prior Monogatari entries which legitimately surprises me. I guess it's because the ending of the main story so people are throwing out 10s more easily as a way to indirectly give a 10 to the whole franchise? Maybe? Idk Either way, as always MAL ratings shouldn't be taken at face value directly. You need to learn how to interpret them. Kimi no Na wa and Steins;Gate are probably the most legit #1 and #2 in practice since they're both first (only) seasons and quite short. FMA:B is pretty long so the 1/5 rule has a noticable effect there but I guess it should probably be considered 3rd at least (maybe before S;G too considering the score gap) It depends on how you look at it, but in general just try to estimate how much of the score is derived from an entry's length and sequel status and you can kinda revert it to where it would have been without those factors Kimi no Na wa is unquestionably the real king on MAL right now though with merely a 0.18% drop rate and no prior entries in the same franchise yet it's still at 9.26 |

| I haven't even seen this series, but based on what I've heard and read, i'd rather see this as #1 than Your Name (which shouldn't even be in top 10). But still, this looks like it's overrated. Original of this franchise is rated far lower than this season (like around 1 point less score), I doubt it got that good. That's just loyal air conditioners giving 10s and also they just updated episode count, so scores by 1/10 hater alts are uncounted. Some people compare it to Gintama, but Gintama's first season is rated above 9 too so its new seasons are at least accurately rated (plus they somewhat improved in quality compared to original season). I give it 3 months and i'm 62% sure this won't be even in top 20. |

| It's not the best at all. Only fans who have gotten that far have actually rated it. Compare 50,000 people's ratings of this show to 400,000 people's ratings of Your Name. If 400,000 people rate Owarimonogatari and it stays at #1, then it's legit. If not, then that's life. |

Even for highly rated and acclaimed shows, the sequels almost always have less viewers. Even if they liked the show, some people just don't watch the rest for whatever reason. | Let me leave some wise words here :P, Nothing is overrated. It's rated as it should be. It's just that you think it deserves lower ratings. and sadly(for you) you can do nothing about it.(Other than wasting your own time and the time of your polar opposites by creating dupe accounts.) One more thing, just like everything ratings change with time as well and ratings aren't universal truths. |
