I have a very weird question. I'm thinking about the gate spell that Touya can use, couldn't he simply just travel back to Japan with that spell or is there some kind of limit to the spell? For example it can't be used in between worlds.

he is dead in the real world. he can't exactly just return to Japan.

Not only that but the Gate spell doesn't cross dimensions.

Actually, the spell can cross dimensions. It's just that earth doesn't have any magic power which makes it impossible to open a gate to earth.

Thats what I thought at first... the spell wouldn't get any magic on earth so it wouldn't open on that side

As others have stated, I also believe that it cannot be used to travel to Japan, as it is a place without magic.
Another reason, is that God probably doesn't want him to return to Japan, as it would contradict the natural laws which God has set for that "universe".
