THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- All these new characters introduced... They're observing others like a game and it feels awkward. I doubt there's any plan to develop any of those new characters. The episode felt very strange with the tea and stuff. Almost got a fantasy vibe out of that. Then, the outburst from that girl lol. A very strange show.

Lots of characters were introduced in this episode and they seem to be watching everyone. They apparently want the world to have perfect happiness and are working for that idol. That was a very weird tea party. Those were some fat faeries. Ritsu has changed his mind.

Weird. I don't know how else to say about this. Although this was nowhere weird compared to that cake party in that Madoka Magic movie.

Does anyone remember what the MC mentioned in the first episode about the mirror and the hidden personalities? Well, here is the answer to why that is mentioned in the first minutes of the first episode

As fairy names go Snapdragon is perhaps the most unique one. Mifue's attitude though really is different when she boils over. To think that was what happened to Mifue's mother though. It was funny how Noruto's actions ended up spoiling the trap and saving Mifue. Looks like the truth of this world will be revealed in the next episode. An interesting episode that introduced the main hostile faction the musicians and also expanded upon Mifue's character and inner darkness. The concept of this world being able to grant any wish was interesting as highlighted by sweetp's backstory. The tea part kinda reminds me of Alice in wonderland.

This was weird... I think I may need to come back and try this episode again when I'm in a better mood so I can give it more of a fair shot. I'm still freshly irritated with the latest Darling in the Franxx and a certain subset of its more vocal viewers, and carrying that over to watching this isn't fair to this show.

So it’s all a simulation... interesting. I assume the rest of the show is going to be their escape from the virtual world. Also, those cutesy girls really piss me off for some reason.

Interesting look into Mifue's history, perhaps we'll eventually get to see the dark pasts of everyone that was dragged into Mobius. Naruko's awakening at the end seemed pretty calm in comparison to most of the others. Tokimeki*Reverie became a rather chilly insert song when used in the tea party context, poor SweetP though, only wanted to eat ramen without being shamed for it Also I'm not entirely sure what people are confused about, those who are frustrated with life in the real world get dragged into Mobius (and trapped there) by μ so she can grant their desires and create a world where everyone is happy. Those who are aware of the existence of Mobius and don't agree with it are known as Rogues. The Ostinato Musicians are a group of people with (currently unknown) ulterior motives, but they're using μ (who just wants people to be happy) like a puppet to suit their own desires.

This episode wasn't as good as the first two. That tea party was really annoying. It feels like the main characters have been running around avoiding each other. I hope they will start cooperating next episode. Why is the number of episodes listed as unknown, is it really not known at this point?

I got the feeling that the whole point of the tea party was to provoke Mifue and get her to break down and give in to the system again. So Sweet-P and the girls who were eating a lot were not exactly going to respond to Mifue's fat shaming. The reason Mifue hates ugly/fat people is probably because she's exactly that herself in real life. There was one exchange between her and Sweet-P that suggested that. The one who was acting weird was the reporter girl because she didn't react to neither the fat shaming nor Mifue going on about her mother.

5/5 But I have to concede that it is dedicated as a comparison to the game after spoiling myself of the whole structure. In other words, this is the best way possible for SweetP to disappear, maybe temporarily. The use of the clocks and music insert is amazing, and the plot itself is demonstrating a much stronger organization than the original game. Looking forward to the next episode.

Sliusarek said: What a waste of an episode. The first two were just awesome and had me excited, this one - terrible. I mean, they literally wasted 25 minutes of screen time. The main character spent all his time thinking and accepting this world and the Sunflower spent all her day on that weird tea-party. It would have been okay to slow down the pace if they tried to show off some characters! Within 25 minutes I've learned the following: the girl that looks like the main villain but isn't her, is just an old man who writes about ramen, the Sunflower hates fat people, the photo-taking girl likes... taking photos and was stupid enough to not notice the monsters. Oh, and the main character (who is supposed to be smart and thoughtful) took his sweet time figuring out that he needs others' help when he realized that the world is not normal an episode ago. He should have accepted it already! I understand that they wanted to send a message about fat people, but it was done very poorly and in a bigoted way. The mother who was not eating enough was not shown as a bad example, while all the obese girls were. Having slightly more weight is as okay as not having any. It's wrong to be ultra-skinny and ultra-obese - yes, but let's not throw chubby people into the fire just because some others decide it's okay to stuff in all the food and forget about self-control. I know a lot of chubby people and they honestly look better than some not-chubby ones. More-so, they self-control themselves better than the "normal" people. I also know one chubby male who now has more weight simply because looking skinny made him look terrible due to the way his body is built and due to his facial features, he just didn't look right without that weight. The Sunflower's outburst with "I hate fat people" was not criticized in any way. Why? Why is it that ultra-skinny people who don't eat enough never get criticized? Why do we never criticize this modelling culture where girls that wear dresses on podiums look sick? Honestly, I've expected a better judgment from a Persona 2 writer... To summarize, the episode's message is wrong and hateful. Having not enough weight and being obese is wrong, yes, but being slightly chubby and being skinny is good. It all depends on each person. Going back to the actual episode, all the food stuffing and the tea-party was just too much. It could have been 5-8 minutes of the episode but not freaking 25! The episode was boring, empty and filthy. We literally have not moved with the story, so I'm just hoping they wasted this episode to show more in the next one. P.S. To clear off all the suspicion, this comment is written by a skinny male who appreciates both skinny and chubby males / females. I know that whenever someone tries to say anything about weight, people toss it off as "well, he's just a fatso!". Dude, DA FUQ. Instead of paying attention to a message that has never been given and that you have been inventing based on prejudices, you should see the series better. -Naruko does not realize anything until the end of the episode, that's why at the tee party she did not see anything, but she manages to wake up when she remembers something from real life, meaning the identity of SweetP - The episode is essential to know the character of Mifue and SweetP About your judgment, there is absolutely nothing, it is a character that for a problem this type of people. The episode does not tell you but SweetP explains it, she has a health problem with food. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypoglycemia In the game she is a person who is hospitalized for her low level of sugar, this combined with her attitude can conclude what is her problem. First of all, I am not "dude". Second of all, be more respectful to other people. I shall not accept your "da fuqs". I'll close my eyes on your disrespect for once (just this once) and will respond. I know not who is Naruko. The anime does a terrible job of making me remember the names. Googling it, she appears to be the photo-taking girl. You really want to tell me that she accepted the tea-party as something normal? There is very little info on how this world works and throwing in something like this is not acceptable. To know the character of Mifue? What is that I know about her after this episode? I don't even remember her name! There is almost no info on her, except that she has a sick mother (shown not in this episode) and that she is a fat-hating person. That is it. SweetP. Yeah, she's a deep character, haha. Probably, some of the laziest villains I've seen. What? Where did she properly explain it? I've seen nothing but food stuffing in this episode. "In the game". Friend, I don't give a damn about what happened in the game. The anime exists in its own universe. You know she has this problem because you've played the game. I didn't. You'd not know it if you just saw the anime. Thus, the anime does a terrible job of explaining these things. As of me making up the fat message, you are wrong. Perhaps, it is different for someone who knows the source material, but you have to understand that this is the impression this episode left on me and most likely other people. There is almost no info on how the universe of this anime works, but we can spend a whole episode on a tea-party. Brilliant. Don't expect me to respond to your messages. You need to be respectful to others to expect people to treat you better than a typical Internet-worm. Lmao, what a joke. Triggered by a character having a distaste for fat people. Oh, boo hoo. A character doesn't like a certain body type. Go back to your tumblr blog and give up with the terrible virtue signaling. If you're offended by this you seriously need to get a spine lol. A character having a distaste for fat people is "I don't like fat people". A character promoting bigoted views on others is this - https://youtu.be/5_VNI2ENlQM?t=14m26s Or, perhaps, you feel similar to the character's "point of view"? :) I think, there is no need to say anything else. Your reaction speaks for itself. The timestamp you poted was still the same thing as a character disliking fat people, lol. The point still stands, you're offended by a single character disliking fat people. Please, explain to me how that fictional character offended and hurt you so much. I don't hate fat people, I'm just replying to you because I find it absolutely hilarious that you're actually offended by a fictional character in an anime disliking fat people. How sheltered your life must be. Uhm, are you serious or just pretending? "Dislike" and "I HATE YOU FAT PEOPLE. AAAAHHH" are quite different, that they are. If you can't see that - I guess, you just don't want to. You seem to be quite interested not in this anime's quality of story-telling, but in me "being offended'. I literally have no idea why it is so important for you to see me offended. I have a tremendous day today and my mood is the best it has been during this week. I am experiencing a lot of fun watching some other anime and cooking lunch while chatting with my friends. This episode left me disgusted for a moment. I shared my thoughts and left it all there. The End. To focus so much on me being potentially hurt, you must have some "sheltered life" and "lack of spine" yourself. A bad anime is a bad anime, nothing more. I'd debate about the "fictional character", but that would take too much of my time... I have explained my disgust towards this week's episode but you clearly seem to be interested not in discussing the good and bad of this anime. Your interest is in finding people that are hurt and offended. Well, you got the wrong one this time, so look someplace else, I guess. Ah, my perception of others doesn't serve me right. How can I take a person seriously if he / she allows themselves to assume that one's life is sheltered because of one comment. Perhaps, you truly are no different from the mentioned character. Or, at least, what is known about her as of now. Must I tell you that I won't follow-up this baseless "discussion"? The quality of story telling has nothing to do with a character hating fat people, are you retarded? You act like some of the best masterpieces don't have bigoted and hateful people in them, lol. Also, I have a pretty good basis for your life being sheltered. You're offended by an anime character's hatefulness towards a body type. That tells me you likely haven't been through much hardship, because that's quite honestly pathetic. Nobody who actually struggles in their life is going to be offended by a fucking anime character's opinion on a body type. "To focus on me being potential hurt, you must have some sheltered life and lack of spine yourself" How does it give me a lack of spine to laugh at somebody being hilariously sad? That doesn't make me sheltered, either, it just means that I find you absoultely hilarious. Most people laugh at people like you. Mod Edit: Modified quote of edited post. |

The good parts about this episode are the fantastic and surreal imagery from the tea party, Mifue's character development and Naruko's unexpected discovery that saves Mifue from SweetP near the end. The bad parts is that this episode still feels like setup. Ritsu, our protagonist, just wanders around, trying to make sense of what's going on and only takes the initiative near the end when he sees Shogo again. It's a bit understandable, though, as there are other characters out there who could use the character development without stealing the spotlight from the protagonist. Those little flaws aside, this was an enjoyable watch and this show is proving to be one of the more enjoyable shows in the season.

This show started off weird, but then it got even weirder, but I'm enjoying it now! It's interesting that that girl was once a fat guy in the real world, I guess you really can become whoever you want in this world!! Also that small look at the end was interesting, are they experiments? hmm~

| I'm still a bit undecided on this show. I'm on the side of cool so far but I feel like it could slip into lameness at any time. I can't say I was a fan of the tea party but it seemed to be effective in showing what this world is about. It also seems to be quite the commentary on our rather superficial lifestyle. |

I'm glad we finally got some answers to the questions we've been given in the first two episodes. It seems like Mobius is really run by the Ostinato Musicians group, even though I still don't know how I should name them - leaders/administrators or just someone who decided to use μ as a puppet to reach their goals. Also, who is their mysterious 8th member? The tea party was just weird, the first half was pretty 'normal', I laughed when everybody introduced themselves: - "Rose" - "Lily" - "Iris" - "SNAPDRAGON" Also the moment Mifue tried being "dreamy cute" was pretty-... cringe. The second half with Mifue's snap ( which was absolutely great ) was just psycho. One big question showed up in my mind: How is possible that Naruko knew SweetP was an old gross man? Did all of them lived their lives in the real world before Mobius and then been "kidnapped" and put into it? That would probably explain why they are in such danger when they "come to realization." Overall good episode, I enjoyed it just like the two before and can't wait for more.

So we have our "Tuners" whose objective is to prevent our heroes from "awakening" I guess to ensure that the Mobius remains undisturbed. Wow, I like how they show the passage of time with the clocks. Funny how Narukonne aka Naruko was just there at the party not aware of what's going on since she didn't awaken until later. Calling it now, she's going to be the best character in this series. marzus said: One big question showed up in my mind: How is possible that Naruko knew SweetP was an old gross man? Well for one, Naruko seems to be a gossip monger who knows just about all the latest gossip on the internet given how much she uses her phone. Also, it might be a bit of a blur, but do you remember that ramen shop that Ritsu and his friends visited in episode 1? Speaking of going back to episode 1, this anime might make us do a bit of backtracking every now and then to remember the stories of each character. I just did a check on Suzuna Kagura (the shy girl with the hero guy), and her scene involved a library book that was read by someone she knows...Hmm... Rose...Lily...Iris...I was expecting to hear Violet next lol. These girls are creeping me out man...OH DAMN THE BURN! Alright, looks like we are taking that persona-esque route where the characters will be facing their "shadow", and I'm loving it! We got Mifue's story, and that wish of hers was quite nerve-wracking. And SweetP is actually a ramen glutton who created a cute version of himself. I can deal with that. I'm a curry glutton. LET ME EAT IN PEACE! So is this like one massive experiment with that facility we saw at the end? More questions, more questions... "People who do not respect themselves will not be respected by others." True statement. Now who would it be pertaining to?

Not exactly. The whole stuff began from about 6 years before the game/anime, but Go Home Club members were transferred into Mobius in no more than 2 years, as I remember what the game says. Plus, their memories have been hided/modified by μ to avoid possible problems. I started to understand the world much better after that conversation, and I'm interested in seeing how this plays out. I wonder how they're going to fight mu and the other musicians in order to escape. I'm still on the fence on this anime. Aesthetically was interesting though, Coraline vibes Music selection in 19:24 was questionable. Why the sudden upbeat cheesy show tune? |
