| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- Volume 1, Chapter 3: The part that stuck most out to me was the story about Little Wednesday. A rational read of this chapter would show that Renton was extremely reckless in what he did, but I really liked how the novel acknowledge that and showed that kind of recklessness was the point. It does a really good job of showing why Renton is the one to take this journey; he has the spirit of a hero rather than just being the son of a hero who was given a magical item. It was that spirit in the anime that made it so special, and its good to see that aspect is recognized by the novel. |
