THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Subs are out.

But damn, the police in this series really needs better members in its workforce if a serial killer manages to kidnap another victim. Seems this is more of an episode racing against time to deal with the problem. Hopefully Narihisago also learned his lesson.

I was thinking that there will be "more" of it with the murdered ... i wanted to be wrong tho, F for the victim.

What a wild kiss at the end.

I'm wondering if there will be a case that require multiple detectives, so they have to assemble a team of serial killers and have them log-in together.

And I'm amazed at how the girl at the end love to find a way to make herself fall into dangerous situation again and again.

I'll stop at finding similarity, because I want to urge anime industry to explore sci-fi world.

Interesting episode.

Burying victims alive and having it recorded live for everyone to see, that's just messed up. The criminal this time ended up being a copycat.

I really liked this episode. the mystery was very intriguing. And the soundtrack was amazing especially that Samurai song. So Narihisago is a serial killer killer. I hope nothing happens to Hondomachi. This show is getting better with every episode. My rating will rise to 8 if it continues being this good.

They referenced GK Chesterton! Start a war to hide one dead body. That one was always my favourite Father Brown story.

I really like how they're exploring Narihisago's character. He's been best boy this season.

Love the OST. Two Miyavi songs!

When I saw the kiss the first thing that came to me was that Kazuto(?) is probably the real grave digger, and he probably drugged her/pushed something down her throat to kidnap her. who knows

I don't think that the guy that kissed the stupid loli is the graver, he was disappeared and he is a victim from the first episode guy. The loli stupid girl was still having something for her brainhole so I assume that its almost 1 month (max 2) since her accident. Knowing that before her, the brainhole guy kidnapped other 2 people that could be alive (they say it in that episode), one of them is the one that the police shot, and the other one is this guy that was missing. In a logical way I think that it's impossible to heal from a drill in the head and to kill 6 people in boxes/underground in less than 1-2 months (Even a worst scenario if it's underground because he would have to dig the hole). The End.

There's still the possibility that this guy is helping the graver for X reason, idk. And yes, I am bored.
And the OST is pretty damn awesome.

It's a great idea to show us that a victim, who's already dead in the real world, can still be saved in a well even if it doesn't mean anything. In the end, the saved person is not even a real human but rather an NPC with implemented behavioral patterns. It might be an incorrect analogy, but one might feel something similar by playing a videogame with knowing that your favorite party member will die once you reach the next scene. While Sakaido didn't know the outcome, a viewer did know it, which is the only thing that matters here. There is some gentle melancholy in this feeling, some bittersweetness, and the show did a really good job of delivering it. I can't say I felt very emotional, because I knew about the victim practically nothing, but I appreciate the concept with all my heart.

And yes, the loli's in trouble again. Keep up the good work, small girl, and you'll quickly become the main antagonist in the comment sections. A shame though, because I kind of like the character: she's cute enough to make a scene better just by existing, she had a nice moment in the second episode, and... well, that's all. I hope the scenarists will not overdo it with her mistakes being a plot device since this way to make things move is a bit too cheap for a good show, and ID:Invaded definitely looks like one to me.

They do not have more than 1 dive-machine it seems. Considering they have no idea how it all works themselves, they might be able to circumvent this small logical drawback.

Yeah well you were already explained this basic trope in Crime genre - kissing to drug the person. It is an experience thing so do not be too distraught you did not catch it earlier.
As for the "Samurai" song, I can explain that as well - Samurais are the "heroes" in romanticized Japanese series. One who fights for the justice, to protect common folk, against greedy lowly lords who cross Bushido and against evil in its many forms. In this sense, Sakaido is a perfect samurai example - he is both a romanticized one and a realistic one, as far as historical accuracy is concerned. When you see samurai elements it means the character is something akin a "superhero" who fights against the evil.

His hole is almost un-drilled, it seems he escaped before he got drilled completely. Just like Hondoumachi. It is a common idea that either that guy is the Gravedigger, or he is not. However, everything implies he is up to no good, and thus he is the Gravedigger.

You know, I'm really glad this series actually has unique well's each time rather than making them all copy paste. That bit before he got to the girl felt like something out of Uncharted lol

Poor Sakaido, so disconnected from reality at this point. While I don't think it will happen, it wouldn't surprise me if he himself commits suicide at the end

That ending kiss though unexpected ship confirmed? For realz it's probably gonna be either the drug hypothesis or just a way to stun her before knocking her out some other way. Either way though this girl can't help but get into trouble

I like how this anime managed to build up hopes before crushing it on my face.

I mean, I was already speculating things (in my head) before the episode ended! While we do not know enough about the MC just yet, I saw his determination to save the girl as some sort of "redemption" of having failed his own daughter.

You know, it could've been the turning point for that character to become a... uh... more positive person.

But nope, she ded.

Also, this episode indirectly made me think of "Re:Zero". Restart, progress, die. Restart, progress, die.

Another excellent episode, I'm "glad" they made the victim die it makes the whole show darker. Also I appreciated seeing one of the policemen hitting the "culprit" out of anger while his comrade tried to hold him down : it showed some real human reaction, showing that everyone can break or has to let it go at some point.

However weird ending, curious for sure

Not much of a stretch since those guys were kept in the same facility.

This looks like the obvious path, but I would prefer if something entirely different comes out of it.

Also making someone swallow a capsule with sedative by kissing is a bit unpractical. Especially if the kiss comes from stranger - the girl would keep her lips closed instinctively.
Some other way would work better.

On the other hand I think that at least theoretically the guy had enough time to be the Gravedigger. The guy from the CSI team mentioned something in the vain of "Your organisation wasn't in the game for 6 months."...or maybe I misunderstood...

Well, if the girl just decided to move in the barrel it would have been obvious that she wasn't buried in the ground and just put somewhere on a concrete floor. (Also how did she die of asphyxia in a barrel that didn't look hermetic at all ?)
It wouldn't have saved her but at least the case could have been easily solved without using all the well thing.

The barrel had duct tape all over it.
Maybe it was properly sealed and also maybe stuck firmly to the floor.
Also there was a hose (or maybe this was the power source for light and the camera) - maybe the killer pumped in slowly carbon dioxide.

I doubt you can properly seal a barrel with a 50kg person inside without using screws that she would easily see inside of the barrel but yeah that makes sense

Good episode
The samurai insert song I feel fit in since it immediately followed the chairman? questioning Narihisago’s determination, while the samurai is almost the very embodiment of determination.
I’ve also seen theorized that the last scene is not a kiss but him pressing his hole against hers. Seems like could be a thing.

Edit: on second thought, from the position of their faces that last bit probably isn’t likely

I don´t think he is a serial killer, he killed only the guy who killed his daughter and that´s what got him into prison, probably.
