 The Toji no Miko special livestream at the Tokyo Game Show 2020 Online event revealed a second promo, additional staff, and theme song performers for the Toji no Miko: Kizamishi Issen no Tomoshibi (Katana Maidens: Tomoshibi) original video anime on Saturday.The first installment of the two-part original video anime will air on October 25 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on AT-X, and will stream within the smartphone application until October 30. Various streaming platforms will then debut the episode beginning October 31. The second episode will run on the same channel and time slot on November 29 and will be available for in-game streaming until December 4. December 5 onward, multiple streaming services will release the episode. The Akabane Katana Chousatai group within the anime, consisting of voice actresses Himika Akaneya, Kaori Ishihara, Hiromi Igarashi, Akane Fujita, Manami Numakura, and Sumire Uesaka, will perform the theme song "blurry shadow." Maki Kawase (Zombieland Saga) is joining the cast as the character Hirona Nitta. Daisuke Niizuma is designing the character, and Yoshinori Shizuma (Zero kara Hajimeru Mahou no Sho) is credited for the original character designs. The original video anime adapts Square Enix's smartphone game of the same title, which was released for iOS and Android platforms in March 2018. The game was ported for PC the following year through the Shift for docomo platform. Studio Gokumi produced the original 24-episode Toji no Miko television anime in Winter 2018. Crunchyroll simulcast the anime with subtitles, while Funimation streamed an English dub. A short anime featuring characters from the smartphone game titled Mini Toji aired in Winter 2019.
