I searched for the name of this series and loads of others show up, but it doesn't state if it's a remake, or if it's a sequel or prequel, could anyone answer this? Thanks

It's a new series from the Vanguard anime franchise.

It is brought by the studio who made Code Geas and is based on character development of characters who play a super intense and strategic card game. You know like Kuroko no basket only with cardgames.

It has new characters and protagonists and has no connection to the old series Vanguard> Vanguard G > Vanguard V which are all available on YouTube, pretty nice of the company to allow this.

Yeah, if you haven't kept up with the numerous past seasons of Vanguard, this would be a good time to jump back in.

Like mentioned already, overDress has no connection to the past series. Brand new characters, brand new decks, and ultimately a brand new plot. Relative to where the TCG is, this is a start of a new format where all 24 clans are condensed into 6 nations with some newly introduced mechanics.
