I was surprised that the novels are still ongoing.

Why? How?

The plot is complete, with the very initial event solved.

Novel readers, without spoiling, but do you think that the new arc is not downgrading the series?

Btw, this series took clear inspiration on the Kyoani Visuals Novels Trilogy: Clannad, Air and Kanon.

If you watched these series, read bellow (more like a review than spoiler):

Kanon and Air finished aftee the main plot is solved, and had not continuation or need of this.

So, if Buta is moving foward, please, is the new plot also inspired in After Story? (after high school)?

Please tell me yes, that would be amazing.

No not really, this show takes inspiration more from Nisiosin's Monogatari Series, there isn't an overarching plot here exactly, it's about Sakuta and all the girls in his life same as Aararagi, also from what I have heard from the LN readers the LN is still going on strong, with the later volumes being some of the best, this show is more so based on it's arcs than an overarching plot.

Ah that is another thing that i didn't got.

Look at the list of similarities in the spoiler tag above, and compare to Monogatari.

In Monogatari there is superpowers (vampires etc), action, lolicon... And just a similar style of sarcastic MC surrounded by girls. It is another energy.

I believe most users who watched Buta, are aware of Monogatari but never watched Clannad/Air/Kanon (because it is from early 2000's).

No it's not about what actions or apparitions it has, if Ao Buta copied all that, it would literally be a copy lol, it's about a bunch of stories about a boy (Aararagi, Sakuta) and the various girls in his life and those stories occur due to a particular problem regarding Apparitions in Monogatari and the adolescence syndrome in Ao Buta that's what the similarities mean, also the points you mentioned about Air, Kanon and Clannad, I think those are there in any romance drama. The only other show which Ao Buta takes inspiration from which I can think of is probably Oregairu.

Good question. The comparisons are a little off though.
I thought the VN were made by Key Studios. I didn’t know that it belong to Kyoto Animation.
Kanon and Air didn’t finish with those events. Only the plot associated to the girl that was chosen in the Anime. Both stories continue. A lot. Just not adapted.
You mentioned the Maeda Jun Trilogy (Technically is a quartet, you forgot Little Busters in the mix), but no, you don’t know who the MC loves from the beginning, because the MC loves anyone. They are VN after all and there are multiple heroines as well. There’s an ending for every girl but you get the point.
Regarding Ao Buta:
They share similarities in premise, not so much as in execution though. And given that the aforementioned series are among the “creators” of such similarities in concept (Drama within relationships) pretty much everything is a copy from them.
That only applies at first glance.
Then we have the comparison to Monogatari.
That one seems fair, or at least more accurate and fitting. Except that one uses supernatural at it’s core while Buta Yarou uses science to justify the phenomenon. Sort of.
Just as much as Araragi, Sakuta deals with a different girl’s issue in every Arc.
Hence it takes the “Episodic within the bigger overarching plot” kind of approach.
It does follow a linear plot line but the events are not intertwined between each other.
Sakuta shares similarities with 8man (Dead-pan face, desensitized, de attached, collected, level-headed, intuitive, etc), it might be on purpose, since the author stated being a fan of both series (Who isn’t a fan of Monigatari or Oregairu?) and most likely to their creators so it could be a homage of sorts.
Regarding the story being completed? Not quite but close.
The movie covers the events from Shouko in Volumes 6-7.
The LN are currently in Volume 12. So Anime wise there’s enough content (If they wanted to, most likely we will get it eventually) to adapt another season or go the movie route.
The events from Volumes 10-11 are also the same Arc. This could be the second movie in the future for example.
Does the story continues after High School? Yes, Sakuta goes to the same college as Mai.
Are they still together? Like After Story?
By that you mean Clannad again? Like Tomoya and Nagisa?
Well, Mai is the main heroine and only love interest so they are never breaking up. Besides the story never ponders in the romantic aspect that much.
Mai and Sakuta have a very healthy relationship and the series focuses more in how Sakuta deals with the task at hand. We know that Mai is there and she participates in almost every event although most of the times she takes a supporting role.
Regarding Buta Yarou will copy Clannad and give a wedding and marriage life, well they have being dating for a couple years now and based on the movie events Mai is only happy with Sakuta and considers him pretty much her soulmate so yes eventually it will happen.
Don’t know if the author will show it though but is heavily implied that they will have an everlasting love.
Is the new current arc downgrading the series?
No? I mean, the series has always been consistently great and all arcs are very well written and developed so the story is never boring.
The author can continue writing it for many years. Don’t know if he wants to. But there hasn’t been a decreased in quality so I don’t think this as a downgrade.

Does anyone know if any of the last arcs after the movie are translated because all I can find are the Japanese’s originals?

Yes there is an after story I actually read all of the spoilers on reddit and the ending sounds really good but the only problem I was having was where to find the translated versions of the LN. Anyone know where to find these? Also I’m pretty sure after the movie it skips to when they are in college.

You won’t be able to find translated (To English at least) versions online because it’s being officially translated and you know how that goes, copyrights and stuff. The official one I think is still in Volume 4?
Regarding your inquiry in your other post, not so much skip as in rather transitioning because they still show Sakuta’s last high school year but yes, after Vol 9 the events happen in College IIRC.

Any chance of S2.
I think the volume currently is 12 and the anime+movie have covered till 7th Volume.
Also, when will those two rascals actually kiss!
(not asking for a spoiler, just showing my displeasure of it not happening until now. They should have definitely done it when one of them died/was about to sacrifice himself for Sako)
