Man, there's a lot whole bunch of stuff I can easily complain about, but meh, at the end I liked the show.

Ma man Yukimaru finally said what she couldnt/didnt feel like, even when she said byebye at Eden.

It's ambiguous whether Fena recovers her memories or not. The point of the ending montage was that even if it wasn't helping her restore her memories then she was making new ones.

soo these eden ass fucks left the ENTIRE fate of the world, no, UNIVERSE in fena's hands bc She Was Born For It😭😭 god-like fena was kinda .Eh but whatever im gonna ignore that and just say that she chose to erase her memories to save her friends lol

felt like we could've ended this better if we had 13 eps. kei who was a big big threat and was one of the cause on why the crew almost split up only had like ?? 5 seconds of screentime at the end there lol. milf pirate lady crews' still alive dont know how they did it but yay!!!! big fat happy ending but tbh im p satisfied. ALSOOOO yukimaru niko smile at the end there who else cried i did

Ehhh this should be 20+ eps not 12. Story suffered. Still gave it 6 for music, visuals etc.

While these last two episodes' shift into heavy mysticism is wholly unwelcome, the journey up to this point was thoroughly entertaining (and well-produced besides).

Definitely a show worth checking out so long as you enjoy Akatsuki no Yona-like stories and aren't overly aggravated by random endings.

The first thing I was confused about is the ending, suddenly given the plot of a holy girl, the world is destroyed, the future, the fate that awaits Fena.

Fena's mother said that someday you will know if you meet her child but later it will be the end of the prince's journey, strange encounter, the history of Fena being controlled by Eden.

But at the last minute of the episode where Fena lost her memory it didn't have any impact, but I could accept it when Yukimaru said "I love you"
Not bad for their travel stories, their trust in each other, and true partners!

I think the ending is nice for me but I believe that it could have been executed better if it wasn't for the sudden plot twist. Overall, I somewhat enjoy this original series

Cheap Evengelion rip-off, but at least Fena and Yukimaru are an item now, so...
A tiny bonus point for 'aishiteiru' at the end.

A lot of mixed feelings for the show. Abel wound up more interesting than Fena or any of the other characters. Most characters I don't even care about a little bit. They could have died and I wouldn't care. Some characters are enjoyable though like those two old men. Fena is just an okay character seems like a good person but making her annoying didn't play well for making her likable because it didnt come off very cute just actually a bit annoying. Most of the crew was totally forgetable. Fena has a nice character design I think. The art of the show and the ost is pretty good. I like the overall feel of the story but near the end too much biblical and legendary stuff got thrown in out of nowhere like everything was thrown in to see if anything sticks. It's just everything was too lopsided where next to nothing happens most of the series then suddenly everything happens. Ending tried to be emotional but it didnt feel emotional because the characters i just couldnt bond to. I feel the good qualities make it i cant give it a 5 or 6 but 7 feels a little high with it's flaws and im usually pretty forgiving of flaws but these stood out to me. Maybe it will get another season and that can be fixed some? At least Yukimaru seemed to finally have some character development he stopped hitting Fena it seems and confessed to her. So he was a male tsundere all along i guess? But it doesnt make sense Fena was told things would have to change or be headed to a bad place yet she's made to forget her memories. If she can't remember anything she cant change anything. So that was just some empty temptation thrown to her. I don't know what to think anymore.

The ending was confusing. I barely understood anything about those maiden stuff and I don't even want to make an effort to understand. But it had a clichéd happy ending, good for them.

Everything was going fine from the start but ended in the most disappointing way. The only good thing about this would be the beautiful animation and music.

Overall 7/10

Damn they had such good potential with the plot and characters but not enough episodes. The ending felt rushed but happy ever after eh.
Kinda wished they played on the Goblin Knights side too. I wanted to see Kai in action.

About halfway through this final episode and... WTF IS THIS SHIT?

And now that I've finished the episode I can say...their love trying to endure through that situation is nice. I thought it was somewhat moving. But man, wtf was the rest of it?

It was out of left field. Didn't really tie in with the rest of the show. Honestly kind of felt like the rest of the show other than Yukimaru was meaningless

I think I had this show at an 8/10 after the first episode, then bumped it to a 9/10 pretty soon thereafter. But I had it back at an 8/10 prior to these last 2 episodes. I say all that to demonstrate just how poor these last 2 episodes were. They were so bad it makes me want to give it a 6/10 overall for the whole season

The ending was completely out of place. It was some weird let's-get-high-and-talk-some-mumbo-jumbo-pseudo-philosophical-b.s.

6/10 it is...

What the fuck was that ending
Why did they dangle the threat of Kei coming for them if it was for nothing?
How the fuck some of the female pirates are still alive? I mean, I'm not mad but... idk that felt a bit cheap showing them out of nowhere at the end.
LMAO Abel got a good ending. Like, I guess I wouldn't be torn about it if the shit he did wasn't as horrible as what he did during the show. Kinda half/half on that one because I mostly get it.
God this should have been more than 12 episodes.

However, it wasn't horrible, I did enjoy a good chunk of the anime, it's mostly the last few episodes when it went full fantasy that it started to be a bit... eh

5/10 I guess

No matter how many Judeo Christian references they put in this thing it is clear that Japanese ppl are behind it. A lot of ppl are confused because in the end the creators are confused as well, I know they don't have to stick strictly to the story of the Bible (duh!) but if you are going to be play it up so much then the themes should ride out to the end.

But they don't fully understand or never had an interest in going full hundred so in the end they fall back on Shinto Buddhist beliefs of cyclical order of the world and reincarnation respectfully along with the notion of a "maiden" a la shrine maidens. If they stuck the landing and held to Judeo Christian beliefs then it would be about sacrifice and death with her somehow ending the continuous rebirth by dying in totality while saving the earth from constant judgement.

I think you can enjoy this anime with no prior historical or religious knowledge but I think it would leave you confused as some ppl on this forum. Which is totally understandable, in the end the creators wanted to have their cake and eat it too but the took away any emotional weight.

Honestly, I loved this show to bits but the last two episodes was such a gigantic let down. It just seemed like such a cheap cop out. If they used the first 12 episodes to set everything up before going the supernatural route in another cour would probably have been much better.

Although I'm glad Yukimaru was finally able to confess his feelings for Fena. One thing to take from this show is Yukimaru's realistic blushing ears: wished they implemented this kind of thing more in anime, but ah well.

I guess the title of Pirate princess was a damn lie. Characters were likeable, animation was great but the story while having a nice end (I guess) could've been much better as they tried to do too many concepts with little development. Feels like they pulled an ep 26 Evangelion end.

I didnot understand anything which happened in last episode. It's started out solid, but since lasting 3 epsiode, it was just going weird in a shitty.

There was the kei storyline which led to nowhere (they abandoned it?), how are the some of the female pirites alive? Why didnot helena lose memory or her hair turned into black?(fena's memory loss was totally unnecessary and didnot serve any purpose to narrative tbh) Reborn helena and abel? So are the goblin knight gone die in future? So is yukimaru gone turn into next abel and some english bastard is waiting to bang fena? What is observer and eden and miko circus exactly and why are they like that? How did lost treasure came into the island? Or where does even the island came from?
Nothing answered, only more question. Entire supernatural thing was BS.

I did love the characters and the setting and art style. Animation was also top notch. Wish they didnot hard insert shitty lores and supernatural bs into it, cound have been lot better.

But Ending was a trainwreck regardless. They expected us to find satisfaction in yukimaru and fena are together for now, but in the same episode they foreshadowed ntr and death.

Overall....whatever, I dont know what to say really

So i got sidetracked from finishing this show, but finally just watched the last two episodes, and… Nani????
For a show about a “pirate princess”, we got very little of what that title was promising 😕 First she was a typical damsel in distress, then she pirate-cosplayed for a bit, then suddenly had some grand cosmic coin toss of destiny handed to her, and washed it down with an amnesia chaser 🤨
As The Simpsons once so eloquently put it,
Homer: “Marge, I'm confused. Is this a happy ending or a sad ending?”
Marge: “It's an ending. That's enough.”
Definitely a gorgeous-looking show, and had it delivered more of what it purported in the title, I would have loved it, but as it was, i think they went for “something different” and lost the threads along the way 😐
Side note, i would totally be down for a sequel focusing on the female pirate crew, they seem like a way more interesting bunch 😁

Although I Loved this series, right down to the last couple of episodes, I have to agree with Adampk's analysis. Did Helena make the wrong choice, which is why she and Abel did not reunite and have a happily-ever-after? Grant you, I'm happy for Fena and Yukimaru, I mean I wouldn't want him to suffer what Abel did, but it just doesn't really make sense why Helena met such a tragic death.

Loved the characters, beautiful visuals and a solid and interesting storyline until the end. I'm fond of twist endings, but this one... smh.

This anime was fucking clickbait even in its title omg it's the first time I see this

Remember this ? yeaaah, it never happenned. The only pirate was the red hair woman. Fena NEVER was a pirate anytime in the story. And her team isn't about pirates they're ninjas assassins anyway.
(They do put the helmets some minutes in episode 1 then never again.)

So many flaws.
The ones which annoyed me the most :

- They never used the submarine (what's the point to have one if you use it like a boat ?).

- They introduced a dangerous ennemy (Kei) and totally forget about him, what's the point to talk and be affraid of him in the first place ? They show him ONE SECOND in the last episode wtf!

- Characters were annoying and don't have identity beside a cliché personality trait sticker you can put on them when it's convenient (supposed genius girl who never made anything useful, monkey twins used as comic reliefs (god the comedy was bad in this anime), dude who like women, big quiet brute with a good heart (well maybe IDK he never did anything impactful except having a calm voice when talking).
They're all NPCs.

No development for any of them them except "Fena good, protect Fena" mentality you don't even know why except because she's a Mary Sue and they must like her for the plot. Shitan does have a thing against her for like one episode before fitting in the ranks with the others like a good doggo.
And he was right when he said she was a witch, she totally is.
Why do trained assassins became attached so easily ? no fucking sense.
You don't see the crew interact that much, the show is full of "timeskip" for travels.

You can't skip all the travels in a travel story, it's stupid! This anime never heard about "it’s not the goal that counts it’s the road" ?!
And let's not talk about this "goal" and the "maidens" lol
And I agree with those saying it's the same vibes form The PN ending.
She sacrifice her memories but she stay with the group so there's zero consequences and in the end she didn't sacrificed anything. Those endings are lame.

So, I have no idea why people praised this... anime so much.
IDK, go read Akatsuki no Yona instead.

Or watch real mystery adventure like Castle in the Sky, The Mysterious Cities of Gold, Future Boy Conan, Nadia Secret of Blue Water or The Secret of Cerulean Sand. At least you're invested into the characters and what they're searching for.

That has got to be one of the worst anime endings I’ve ever seen… that whole apocalypse maiden bullshit just came out of no where and I’m so disappointed that it’s making my blood boil!

Until the last two episodes, this was a solid and sweet fantasy romance but that ending just shit all over that.

This might seem trivial but the title of the anime is just so misleading; Fena; Pirate Princess… she wasn’t a pirate and even though it was revealed that she is a princess, it’s not a feature of the anime big enough to be part of the title!

The last few episodes were a complete detour from the first few and not in a good way. While I like it when a story goes far from its starting point, it needs to be paced in a decent manner, this just wasn't it.

I agree with you about an anime having a big turn in its plot but usually an anime will have little hints here and there that make it so shocking at the end but this was just… awful!

I'm of the opinion that the anime tried to do too much.
I really liked the show and the characters are very likeable, but I wished they would have kept the plot simpler since they really only had 12 episodes and it sort of felt like the whole 'maiden of choosing' thing came out of nowhere.
Also, one thing that never made sense and was never explained was how is Fena part of the Houtman family?
We know that Helena got with the King (Abel's father) but then sent her baby (Fena) off with Franz Houtman where she was raised as part of the Houtman family.
But then, we learn that Cody (the kid) is Franz and that Franz was never even a real person, but more so a personification of Eden sent to guide the maiden of choosing in the right direction... So how did Franz manage to create an entire noble house with loyal servants like Otto and Salman if he was never actually a real person??

As a romance lover, that ending with Fena's memories being removed from her wasn't tragic enough to be good. It was lackluster... ಠಿ_ಠ

I guess Yukimaru and the others are still lucky to have her physical body but not her past memories. (๑♡⌓♡๑)

Btw, it's good to see that the other female pirates are still alive and well (after Abel destroyed their ship in 1-hit) but we didn't get much from them in this story which was boring... there's no pirates battling each other with their ships since the Goblins are too OP. w(°o°)w

The Witches:
So that's why guys who fell in love with them came to ruin because of almost no happy ending... with their past being forgotten... with some advantages... ✧(>o<)ノ✧

Man, that ending with her kind of remembering her past memories were probably good but it wasn't romantic as I'd hoped it would be. 6~7/10.

P.S. #1 I just saw Akebi-chan.
P.S. #2 the only redeeming quality for me here is the ED1 theme song. Saihate by Minori Suzuki.
P.S. #3 Yeah, as the others said already. For me, Yona's story would be more fruitful to watch/read.

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

I have to say that I really enjoyed the show over most of its episodes. It was never outstanding, but always very good and well crafted. But what was that ending? I liked the general idea that was hinted by some small bits throughout the story, but the final outcome felt soo underwhelming. On the one hand, the whole chosen one to choose the fate of humanity came way to fast and felt out of nowhere. On the other hand, Fenas choice did not have any Impact at all imo. Yes, she lost her memory, but does that really matter? In the end she did not change at all and ahe can still travel along her friends, etc. Also why should she be the one that makes this decision? Feels kinda random. I mean she has not seen that much of the world thus far. It was clear to me how she would choose and there were no tension at all. Imo there would have been two ways to make the ending better. On the one hand, strech this chosen virgin arc over more episodes. Let her think and get desperate over the choice she has to make and there should be more consequences. Or just throw that whole plot away and make it smaller. Not deciding the fate of the whole world out of nowhere, but something more relatable like getting back her place as a royal, etc. The show is still solid though, since most of it is really good. But with the right ending it could have been a great show overall. 7/10

This is another original anime with a really good start, but then, in the middle, they put some "god-like" Story to make it really weird. Ange vierge, Darling in the franxx, Akudama drive, and than this. Well, as for this anime, I enjoy it overall. Just kinda disappointed on the couple last episodes, just like the other 3 that I mentioned.

So I am an eternal optimist but this ending….it wasn’t great. I’m not even entirely sure what the point was. They said her journey was about making choices but she even acknowledged that she was just going with the flow.

And her choice seemed to be between a future where the goblins might die and a future where she killed like 2 billion people. Why? How is that a choice? Maybe if this series had been more focused on the evils of humanity it would’ve made a bit more sense but this ending seems to have no relation to the rest of the series. I think toonami is doing a marathon of the entire show and I’ll rewatch it to see if I missed something

Plus, the series did look beautiful so I can look forward to that.

Feels like an amalgamation of anime plots i’ve seen but hodge podged in a way where the final detour hurt to watch. It wasn’t bad, but definitely is keeping the crunchyroll failed potentials strong until the end. If I was four episodes earlier I’d say this was 10/10 top 3 favs. Hell even after the first episode I knew I’d love this series. The chemistry of the seiyuu was absolutely amazing. That said, both as good as the series was— it also left a horrible taste in my mouth. I do appreciate the nodes of history sprinkled in at the end— the formula for a good series was all there (even the reuse of the SAO soundtracks), but the execution/direction was too rushed. I cried, but it wasn’t satisfying in the least. We just proved that Yukimaru loves Fena, but Fena is here for the friends made along the way. And Abel? … Yeah I don’t know how he got to Eden considering he thought we were going Southeast. Some reason Cody lead him the right way even though, he (Abel) barely has any attachment to Fena minus him being the unintentional source of her trauma.

Also seemingly unpopular opinion, but I quite like Fena’s white hair.

Fena's mugetsu form was unexpected but i didn't expected this show to go this route either way I liked all of their characters and this is a decent show.

Good thing it's only 12 episodes, because, look, too bad.

In this episode I thought I was watching Neo from The Matrix, but his name is Fena, and he's a pirate. Could it be that Neo was Noah of the ark?

Yeah, it strarted great but the ending was a huge jumping the shark moment, all that "you must choose to either destroy the world or not" was beyond unnecessary and it gave me Mass Effect 3 ending flashbacks (Also the fact that those 3 pirates managed to survive that huge explosion without any visible scars was even more BS than the amnesia!).

Thankfully the characters and the animation still remain enjoyable to watch (I am so happy they showed Otto and Salman one last time before the end) and prevent the series from falling into the "waste of time" category.
