Kemono Friends
| I've heard a number of people say this show had a "terrible first episode". However, I'd argue it's one of the best ones. It feels like an adventure from the first minute. We get a nice look at the (surprisingly pretty) environment, a few characters that have their roles throughout the whole episode get introduced, and the episode concludes nicely with a Cerulean fight which includes characters using their strengths to defeat it together and progress to the next area. I wish more episodes were like this. Now don't get me wrong, it's really fun watching them build a bridge to get the bus across or hang out in the hot springs, but I wish more of the show was about getting rid of Ceruleans and solving their mystery while getting to know their own strengths and weaknesses and getting little character arcs in the process. In a number of episodes, the show introduced a bunch of characters at once that had like one line of dialogue and then just stood in the background or never appeared again until the last episode, instead of fleshing out the more important ones a bit more. Anybody else felt like that? |
| Started watching this and I never thought it's terrible too. I even thought it's okay for a first episode with introductions. I guess people are nitpicking too much and they want a very suspenseful first episode. |

One which fosters an inquisitive and warm spirit. A little mystery, a little Slice of Life and iyashikei, a little educational trivia valuable for children, families, and all intergenerational audience members interested in such things, a sense of adventure and first time discovery, a rather novel setting in an interactive theme park straddling the line between inviting and homey yet also desolate and eerie. A seemingly abandoned frontier that seems on the cusp of a new beginning. Kemono Friends is many things to many people and can be a friend to you too. In summation - Kemono Friends is love. Kemono Friends is life. |
