Well, the Vueko and Ganja explorers story looks very promising and interesting, sadly the shows is barely watchable when the main trio is on the screen(specially Riko), the show becomes Dora the Explorer when they appear. I really hope the author kills Riko eventually but at least I expect that the main trio screen time gets drastically reduced this season. 8.5/10

Un mejor comienzo imposible, ya quiero ver cómo se desarrolla este arco que al parecer es el más inquietante para muchos, la animación es muy buena nada que decir, el OST es increíble Kevin Penkin es dios y simplemente Riko haciendo popó xD

I mean it's in the new opening song:
Let's exchange pain for pain. We'll turn it into provisions, pieces of fallen petals. Wholly wounded, I imitate, I take shape. Beyond the awakening.
Looks like people have yet to realize that they can take this part literally as it pretty much describes one of the main gimmicks of the new area.

Lmao we got the pooping loli noises. Well it's a weird choice to blend the Golden City backstory in throughout the first bit of this season. There is quite a natural buildup to that backstory being revealed and it is done for the purpose of telling Riko and the gang about the history of the place and such. I wonder how they will weave that bit into the story.

Yeah they have only two moods

You can tell this show is quite special from the start of this season, from music to story and the setting overall. The atmosphere they set for an adventure story is pretty good.

Hope they don't lean too sussy though...

the Penkin factor man, this aussie bastard can't not make good music. "Gravity" hitting as the sages discover the island and climaxing with the sight of the mouth of the Abyss, then abruptly ending to absolute silence HNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGG this show is a tier above anything this season.

What a start! Like I was not expecting much this first episode and sometimes i forget that even though the animation is centered around chibi-like characters, this show is strictly for adults. But man, serious trigger warnings for this episode.

BUT WHAT A START! I am soo soo excited to see what else happens.

So, quick question about that last shot with the group in the past: what was that in the center part of the transport-orb? Was it members of their group that accidentally ascended and became blobs (like Mitty)?

Tbh I initially defended the whole riko peeing herself when she was half dead but now I'm not sure anymore. The story and world building are amazing, but it's clear that the author has made some rather... deliberate choices in his storytelling.

Whatever, still hyped.

There's a large market for this type of content though (lolicons + scat/bodily fluid fetish types).

I'm sure there is, but at first I thought the naysayers were just hating on the show just because.

I mean in a situation like the one in S1 where Riko was writhing in pain so the pee came out I was like whatever, it's realistic. But this one was totally unnecessary and it was just weird. I mean, I've watched a ton of anime and I've never seen a single character (especially girl ones) visually show vomit, go to the bathroom let alone poop of all things.

Mangaka made a really good story but it loses steam because of his fetishes and btw I watch shit like prillya so I don't mind loli content but this is just too obvious and out of place.

It's ridiculous. I don't actually care at all (in a negative sense) since I'm totally unfazed/desensitized by media from a young age from watching a lot of horror and all manner of provocative content long before the foray into anime itself, but even from a number of episodes and scenes in season one (such as numerous comments about Reg's penis and testicles including from adults, focus on dirty soiled clothing and really giving all the variety of fluids center focus, etc.) and the third film, I do get a kick out of seeing how much can be shoehorned into the narrative.

I'm not really a lolicon type (maybe loli-adjacent...), but knowing and hearing from a lot of those folks on MAL and some other forums and their thoughts and wants, I think this series is a great safe and fun outlet for the fetishists at the risk of losing some mainstream appeal.

it's his sense of humour actually

"haha look loli is taking a dump"

papa's rod was another joke too, and there is one with menyia's ass popping out at some point too

This show is really all about torturing children and beautiful OST isnt it?
I am convinced half of the appeal of MiA is the ghibliesque great animation and this amazing OST. I dont see the manga working that well without it, but I guess I will see about that once the season is over.

Also, hats. Character design of MiA? HAT

For real what is up with this authors child fetish. Hanging children naked, raping children, torturing children, showing children pee and poop, having children talk about regs penis..

Anyway, great start to the season.

PS: Why are you saying its been 5 years, the movie aired 2 years ago and only reached us last year.

Hell yeah, the new season. I guess there will be the same scenario as before - calm beginning and then a snowball of misery.
The author definitely has fetish on little kids puking, peeing and pooping. Probably, the rumors about pedo context might be true lol.

Well, five years since the first season aired in 2017 (and it's now 2022). Five years is also a large gap between seasons for a series airing on TV that's considered ongoing. With even some big budget live action shows, as little as two years is considered a hefty pause.

I also think a sizable percentage of the audience for any given series only watches the TV-aired episodes in the seasons of the series and doesn't watch the films. Either they don't even know about them or don't want to bother (the latter because it's either not included on the platform they watch the main part of the series on and don't want to deal with extra searching or paying more for it, or because it's not a series they're into enough to choose to watch what they view as "bonus" content).

yeah and thats why I mentioned the movie from 2 years ago, which gives us 2 1/2 year gaps which is normal.
4 years gaps arent even unnormal for anime, the schedule is just that packed.

I agree that switching from series to movie form and back is a bad choice, but you really should watch the movie before contiuing with the story.

I remember reading this in the manga about 3-4 years ago? Can't really recall exactly when. Time passed so fast, and it's now even animated. Both manga and the anime adaptation are honestly not bad. I like the animation of this adaptation, it is really great! New characters were introduced, and I seem to like the girl with the compass (no longer hers though).

I finished watching movie 3 a few weeks ago and had to get over the death of that poor Loli and commented on how the series should be rebranded as Horror, lol.

Then finally I got to this series... and man... was I right... episode 1 starts out with something similar to horror...

___ ___ ___

Seems like there's going to be a lot of Dark adventure happening.

Especially since all the new ppls have those dark designs with scars, dark eyes, etc etc.

Also, I wonder where did the natives around the "Pit" came from, since this is a island/ volcano thing and they mentioned it was very hard to get to without navigation.

___ ___ ___

Also.... "child impossible" "as she's unable to bear children, she's exiled"... really? the girl looks like a 6 or 7 years old... of course she can't bear children... what is this?

Well, they had her as a sort of guide.

Hmm... I wonder tho... when did they start having the more civilized cities above ground around the Pit? Must have been years later. (especially with them in current timeline having ways to travel between the top layers without getting fully consumed by the curse)

Another thing... the path to 6th floor was already there with the giant sphere?... who build those city like buildings and the sphere?

Cause I thought those evil dudes from movie 3 build those... but they didn't exist yet since technology above ground and below isn't at that level. Above ground was still at the "Huts" level.

Tho... they did technically mention the "golden city"... meaning someone or something had the tech or knowledge to actually travel the entire Pit not only downwards, but also upwards (something like Reg) to spread the word about the "golden city" and also to send the "compass" to the outside world...

___ ___ ___

LOL @ Riko pooping in the sphere capsule tho... LOL. Whoever is next is going to get a stinky surprise.

(tho... how exactly is the sphere capsule going to head back up? as the episode ends with it sitting there in the dirt and no devices to send it back upwards.)

If that or around there is her biological age, then they probably didn't intend the inscription as literally only pertaining to the here and now, but ever and in the future. As in, she's permanently ruined and precluded from future fertility usefulness probably to do with some damage to or aberration involving the uterus. She would be seen as useless goods.

And we got someone taking a dump just before the end. Not pulling any punches is the understatement of the year.

The thing is, the world building is so magnificent that you cannot help but keep watching no matter how much you're put off by all the other stuff.
