compared to a regular anime movie anyway
I really don't want them to cut the content of the holy kingdom arc
at least it looks like madhouse has learned their lesson with s4 doing great

Season 4 doing great? They've cut out massive interactions already so far, or dumbed them down making all the characters look two dimensional, they even used some random mecha angel 3d model for the Cherubim Gatekeepers which look completely different.

The movie is going to be a disaster, even if they somehow manage to pull out a 2 hour anime movie instead of 1h 30m, that/s only 6 episodes of content, for 2 of the more chonky overlord volumes, even the tv series dedicates more episodes per a volume and they cut out about 1/3 of the content on average, so we can expect that the movie is going to be missing about half the content, and just summarizing the key events because the studio only cares about flashy fights.

I think you're super-mega-hyper-exaggerating everything.

YES, they are doing really well for season 4.

They haven't cut out any major/important interaction and trust me I've been re-reading the same parts in the LN while watching the episodes. Minor interactions? Sure but they're minor so not important.
How exactly have they dumbed down any character? They seem just as they are in the LN. They may have done this in the earlier seasons, but nothing close to that in this one.
The Cherubim Gatekeepers point is completely irrelevant since they aren't even moving most of the time so they're not jarring and only appear for a few minutes in just a single episode anyway.
If those are all the supposed negatives, that is nothing.

This is not even talking about the improved art, animation, photography, musical direction, pacing, etc.
I feel like I'm being trolled by you. 1/3 content cut?
For someone who apparently dislikes the overlord adaptations, having them all rated 9/10 is pretty hypocritical.

Also, we don't know anything about the movie's length, nor do we know how they will adapt the 2 volumes.

Even from just the first episode alone, the scene where Ainz talks to Albedo and the scene where he meets Ainzach is super cut, making it so the lengthy discussion of the issues are simply Ainz stating things and then the other characters are like "Ah, yes, then it will be so"

We've missed entire scenes such as the long talk with Hamsuke, the summoning of the Cherubim Gatekeepers, Ainz meeting that adventurer from Rainbow (don't remember his name (and neither did Ainz xD)) and then finally the post-guild scene with the head of the mage's guild. I'm pretty sure if even just cut content got adapted properly episode 1 would go from 22 minutes to 30 minutes even as a low-ball estimate.

I'm pretty sure those interactions would've made it go from 22 minutes to 23-24 minutes.
I don't know how the added lines to Hamsuke, the brief talk with the rainbow dude and the summoning would take more than seconds.
I also think you're exaggerating.

Also to answer the other thing, I think they will either adapt part of the next volume and the movie will add to it, or the movie will be long and they will try to change the order of things.

I would argue that the current arc in the anime is just as good, for me personally anyway. The author has been popping off since volume 9 like crazy.

And yeah the animation quality is pretty much guaranteed to be great simply because it is a movie so it will have the extra polish.

Yeah, that is definitely my fear.

From what I understood Season 4 adapted LN 10, 11, and 14 right? and the movie will do 12 and 13?

I Think the logical thing would have been S4 adapting 10-12 and the movie adapting 13, as cramming 2 volumes in a movie that would basically be the length of 5 episodes would really be disastrous, while if it was 1 volume then both the movie and S4 would have fit perfectly with how many episodes each volume got until now and they wouldn't need to cut much. Ending S4 in the middle of an arc would have also enticed more people to go watch the movie when it comes out. Then you could have left 14 to the next season.

Assuming 2 volumes are around 5 episodes then the movie would have to be 1 hour and 40 minutes to 2 hours to adapt everything in a "comprehensible" way tho.

..

...what are you talking about? each single volume takes 4 to 5 episodes minimum to adapt. that is why each season of the anime is 3 volumes in 13 episodes. So to include 2 volumes in an acceptable way the movie would need to be the length of 8-10 episodes, AKA around 3 hours, and it is almost guaranteed that its length won't be even close to that number.

I wish they would make it a show and not a movie... 1-2h is way too less for a overlord. :(
Makes no sense to me why they make it a movie and not a series.

I believe volume 11 was adapted in 3 episodes during the anime.
If they really wanted to rush vol 12 and 13 into the movie they could somewhat do it in 2 hours of pure runtime which is like 6 anime episodes. I don't think they are going to make a 2 and a half hour anime movie. It might be like 2 hours and 10 minutes at most. Considering Overlord is on a waiting game for the last 2 volumes of the series to come out to wrap up the story and anime, it is a possibility that this movie could be just covering volume 12 and they would announce a sequel movie covering vol 13. I've never seen an anime movie covering more than one light novel volume.

Earliest I see this movie coming out it is in 2024 now. I'd guarantee it to come out in 2024.

I hope it's 2 movies and not 1, considering how vol 13 is considerably longer than vol. 12 and 13 is the second longest series behind 14, which took 6 episodes to adapt in S4. Heck just make these a 10 ep season 5.

@AaronCruse Yes, IT DOES GREAT, and everything you mentioned is completely irrelevant. You are absolutely hilarious with those "massive interactions". Massive for you is literally few irrelevant lines of dialogue few times through the whole season and a bit different look of some background summoned guardians that show only for a moment. What a joke you are.

@krz3myk Why would you even comment when you clearly haven't read the novels, the first episode of S4 was so egregious that I re-read the content and detailed the differences, I ended up with this much just from the first episode, and in end the other episodes were missing/changing as much content if not more. I think the only one with less was the fight with the Warrior King

@AaronCruse to be fair, adding all that extra content that further contextualizes the events of the story is just not feasible with an episodic format

which is why I am hoping this movie is long, as one can read in the initial post of mine

@AaronCruse You think you will post this doc and people will automatically assume that you are right because you posted a doc? Sadly for you I clicked on it and... laughed. If its all you have then thanks for proving my point. As a reader of LN I was correct, they didnt skip anything relevant to the story. Its amusing to read a doc that says "lots of super interesting things were cut out" and you read they skipped hamster armor. Oh no story is incoherent now....

Also I can barely read this nonsense. Its legit faster and easier to read LN material to see the differences than to read this. Instead writing something like "they skipped one dialogue there" you write about every line in this dialogue and you add how important it is with your added context. You are clearly biased and your incoherent doc should be dismissed.

And every time someone says "you haven't read novels" then that person automatically takes L. You cant really prove it, but it tells us that your whole comment is based on your hurt feelings and basically its nonsense.

With 2 volumes, they better be.

It has to be AT LEAST the equivalent of 8 episodes considering how 1 vol = 4 eps in the usual anime seasons. That's a total length of over 2 hours.

I also hope Neia's VA is 'perfect'
