| Having an 8mm video camera back in the 70s was pretty fancy. You didn't have to be rich to own one, but that being said, they weren't cheap, either. My parents and grandparents never had one. The first time my family ever had a video camera of any kind was when they purchased a Hitachi Hi8 camcorder in the early 90s, which I still have today. Although, before that, my mom rented a VHS camcorder to film me as a baby a couple of times. Maruko's "friends" dance routine wasn't exactly the most exciting thing now, was it? :P |

| Filming everyday life is a good idea especially to be watched to reminiscing old memories. But it all turns into a ridiculously humiliating and funny video to watch. From Tomozou spilling the soup, film the daughters sleeping to the boys dancing awkwardly. Hiroshi is a great filmmaker to ask Maruko's friends to smile and move around when recording lmao. I couldn't stop laughing when they use the projector to view the film. |
